Lions sign Nece

It didn't take Ryan Nece long to find a new home.

The Bucs' linebacker signed with the Detroit Lions, less than a day after being released by Tampa Bay.

Nece won't need many introductions. Long-time Bucs defensive line coach Rod Marinelli is the Lions head coach. His son-in-law, Joe Barry, was Tampa Bay's linebackers coach and is the Lions' defensive coordinator.

Former Bucs Brian Kelly, Dwight Smith, Dewayne White, Kalvin Pearson and Chartric Darby are on the Lions' roster.

Bucs North! Should've seen that coming...

JS

the detroit lioneers... they're never going to win with former bucs players...

This just in Detroit signs John Lynch, Simeon Rice, Greg Spires, trades for Warren Sapp, Booger McFarland, and Dexter Jackson(the safety), and coaxes Shelton Quarles out of retirement. Seriously that's only two starting players(brooks and barber are the only ones missing) away from the old Buccaneers Superbowl defense.

Quentin

As one Lions fan put it, it's the Tampa Too.

bobbyd

It's kind of creepy, no?

Jay

Don't worry. Dwight Smith is in Minnesota blowing coverages and missing tackles too.

Tex Mex

Its kind of like DR, always going after everyone's sloppy seconds.

HeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaw! Here Donkey, Here Donkey!

Michael

Jay, as the article says, Dwight Smith is in Detroit. He left the Vikings to join the Lions.

The Spleenless One

Doh! I didn't realize that.

I'm glad we've got the Lions on the docket this year. Maybe we can show that the Kiffin 2 has evolved a bit now that we have a couple of cover corners. Watch the coverages change this year! Go Bucs!!!
