OT Miller offered contract by Bucs

Former Bears offensive tackle Fred Miller worked out for the the Bucs this morning in Tampa and is weighing a contract offer.

Miller, who was released by the Bears in Feb., also has been offered a one-year deal for $830,000, the veteran minimum, to return to Chicago.

"He had a great meeting with ( Bucs coach Jon) Gruden but we are not going to do anything until we hear from Chicago,'' Miller's agent, Harold Lewis, told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Also today, the Bears released defensive back Ricky Manning Jr., who also might draw some interest.

I have personally never heard of Fred Miller. I was just wondering if he is a quality tackle, and if he is better than Penn.

He is not as good as Penn...trust me. Penn is a stud. Chicago wouldn't let him go if he had the same upside as Penn. VegasSports com

He's from the Bears, I live in Chicag and have seen plenty of games. He was a good player in his prime, just not anymore. Need proof, go check out the Bears offensive stats from last season.

He isn't better than Anthony Davis. Stay away.

I haven't looked at his age but I'm guessing older than 35 because the Bucs have contacted him. Stay away from this guy, did you watch any Bears film last year? He's gigantic, but slow... out of shape... we cut Petitgout because of steriods and injury problems. This guy is an injury waiting to happen, too old...Stay with Penn

He was darn good in his time. But then, so was my mullet hair style.

Maybe a couple of years ago when Tampa went on the run and won the Super Bowl. They did pickup an Offensive Lineman who played college for University of Florida! Remember that Maybe Miller coulf revized his career here. Go Bucs

Fred was an absolute monster for years with the Titans, and even before! Don't know if he has anything left, though...

Hey Stephen,

Curious about Rick's note in the paper today regarding Ricky Manning, Jr. as a returner. Can you tell me how many times he has returned a kick in his NFL career? Here's a hint: ZERO.

Fred Miller and CB Ricky Manning Jr. would be a great addition to the Bucs.
