Brooks, Dunn missing from practice

No surprise here, but LB Derrick Brooks is not participating in today's afternoon practice at One Buc Place.

Brooks suffered a a hamstring strain in Sunday's game at New Orleans and remains a question mark for this weekend's home opener against the Falcons.

Strangely, RB Warrick Dunn was not seen practicing, either, though we don't have any information as to why. WR Joey Galloway was missing, too, but he has been given Wednesdays off since last season in an effort to rest his legs.

We'll update you more as the afternoon progresses. Coach Jon Gruden will be available to the media in a couple hours.

That's great, Dunn doesn't even have to practice. Bennet's gotta love that.
I bet he(Bennet) can't wait to get out of here. It's unbelievable to me, with the TC and PS Bennet had, that he wasn't even active. This is unforgivable, IMO. Lost alot of respect for Gruden over this.

Gruden lost my respect long before this. Try the Joe Jurevicious release, the Lynch release. The Rice release, not that fact that he got released but how it all went down. The way he treated Mike Alstott. Even what he did when he left Oakland. Gannon was hot about that for years. Even Art Valero had a parting shot at Gruden when he left, basically calling him two-faced. Respect for Gruden is long gone.

I know it is a numbers game, however, we need to have Graham, Dunn & Bennett active on game days. We HAVE to grind other teams defenses down with our RUNNING game, not our passing game. Let them put 8 in the box, then we pass.....

Jay

If Galloway puts in another performance like he did last week, he'll have more than just Wednesdays off.

CW

I agree...why are we giving Galloway time off from practice? He took off the entire training camp and obviously it has affected the timing on some plays. He needs to get back to practice. Rest his legs...from one game???!! Maybe his @ss is too old!

Jimminy Chrismas...talk about the walking wounded. I feel like I'm reading about the PBS Documentary on War.

Dave - please explain your rationale about Bennet. He averaged 4.51 ypc in pre season with a good portion against 2nd and 3rd stringers. Dunn had 6.0 ypc and Graham 9.1 ypc. It appears that the right 2 backs were on the field. You put way to much stock in pre season stats. Did Gruden steal your girlfriend?

If Brooks and Dunn were missing, who played country music for the team?

As for Bennett, I think they will end up trading him soon. He's a pretty good back, but I agree with NCBucFan, he's got two better backs in front of him on the depth chart. I'd say keep him for a bit in case of an early catastrophic injury, but start shopping him.

JJ

Galloway also rested his legs when he gave up on that route last week. I'm sure all of the Gruden lovers will start to pipe in but when you run 10 plays for 91 yards and stop running the ball then your a bad coach!

bobbyd

JJ, I'd say when you run 10 plays for 91 yards and stop running the ball, you coached a bad game. Clearly Gruden did something right. He was able to get E.G. to run 10 times for 91 yards.

TELL YOU WHAT I PLAY RECIEVER THIS WK THEY CAN PAY ME 70K FOR THE GAME AND I WILL PLAY BETTER THAN GALLOWAY.....

Gil

Stephen,
Can you tell us who started in place of Brooks on the weak side?

john

Joey Galloway kicksass garcia was horrible sunday joey had a couple of nice plays to.Dont forget garcia missed him on a cross route that would have went all the way.Thats not joeys fault.

Dave

hey ncbucfan - you must be a complete fool. check the number of carries. how many carries did Dunn have in PS? 5?
dunn is ...waste of time..idiots!!!

jackpc

Run, run and more run. Use all 3 HB and 2 FB. Use double TE formations. Tire the DL and dink and dunk. I can wait 30 plays a series to score. Games are won in the fourth quarter and the more tired the D is, the more they are going to give up big plays.

I read this headline and thought, "They Must Be Out Do'in The Boot Scoot'n Boogie!"

I hope the white tiger mulls the coach for the way he handled the Garcia affair.
