Bucs game won't be blacked out
Bucs team officials said today that there are a few "scattered" seats remaining for Sunday's home opener against the Falcons, but it is close enough to a sellout that the game will not be subject to the league's blackout rule. The game will be televised at 4 p.m. Sunday on Ch. 13.

Thanks for the Free tickets! Glad you did so, so the game won't black out!

Small favors? I'll be at the game so it doesn't matter. Support your team!
Posted by: Steve L | September 11, 2008 at 02:46 PM
How about all those 100,000 on the waiting list or was that just another big fat Glazer lie when they were in negotiations to sell the team and buy the Jets??
Posted by: Ray | September 11, 2008 at 03:09 PM
And you wonder why the Rays don't sell out. Come on people the Ray Jay is in Tampa for crying out loud. You have no excuses now for not attending the game.
Posted by: Stacey | September 11, 2008 at 03:13 PM
That’s right, Ray- it was “another big, fat Glazer” lie. Remember:
Glazer = devil
Gruden = devil
Allen = devil
They’re all evil and out for blood (not to mention to ruin your team)! Run, run for your lives!
Get a life, haters.

I would not pay to go and watch that garbage, especially in the 90 degree plus heat. The bucs will be lucky to win anyway with the offense they have. At least the trop is air conditioned.
Posted by: CP | September 11, 2008 at 03:57 PM
Personally, I would attend more games (both Bucs and Rays) if it were not so difficult to buy tickets. TicketMaster.com absolutely sucks!!! And the security BS is getting worse than at TIA. Then you have people smoking, spilling drinks and food on ya, CONSTANTLY making you get up as they walk back & forth, etc. I'd rather watch the games on my Hi-def bigscreen. And, if they want to start blacking out games, then I'd rather go fishing!
Posted by: ticketmastersucks | September 11, 2008 at 04:01 PM
Hey now people, the Atlanta Falcons are worth paying money to watch! At least they have an exciting, young offense. They play hard and there are no prima donnas on that team. No egos. Roddy White and Michael Jenkins actually run their patterns and if Michael Turner is averaging 9 yards a carry, I can guarantee you, he'll keep getting the rock.
Posted by: DR | September 11, 2008 at 04:11 PM
Michael Turner by far is who I’m most worried about Sunday.
And of course, Ticketf*cker does suck, big time.

Steve L,
I swear Gruden was knocking on my bedroom window last night.... I live on the third floor.
Posted by: DR | September 11, 2008 at 04:21 PM
I used to go to the games, and actually had seen tickets, but every game some drunk would be yelling "F'N kill him", and "I hope the MF never gets up". I found the fans had absolutely no respect for the children around us including my son who was 4 and 5 years old at the time. One guy turned around an apologized after his wife elbowed him in the ribs. He did it abou 4 more times and then turned around and apologized and laughed. We left at half time and his wife had left before us. I think some of you post in these blogs, you know the ones that rip the sports writers all the time, and are all acting like big shots! I think the late Heath Ledger said it best, "Why so Serious?" It's just a game people, nothing more!
Posted by: | September 11, 2008 at 04:22 PM
DR, I thought so too- but it was just my neighbors 6 year old son...
Posted by: Steve L | September 11, 2008 at 04:34 PM
Economy in Tampa is tough and Bucs RAISE TICKET PRICES AGAIN!!! This is the 6th straight year of increased ticket prices and the Bucs may have over-reached. Let's hope they wise up and lower prices (or they will end up with empty seats at Ray Jay. Meanwhile, you can see the TB Rays take on the Red Sox for a measely $14 next week. Sounds like a no-brainer to me.
Posted by: 9equals8.com | September 11, 2008 at 05:06 PM
Ticket price increase didn't go aw well as the team though, especially in the more expsensive sections. I sit in the cheaper seats and everyone renewed.
Watched Bryant Gumble's piece on HBO where an "expert" blamed all these ticket price increases on Stub Hub. Seems the owners got the average selling prices for the tickets that were going out over Stub Hub and thought they were under pricing their product so they jacked up the prices. Brilliant!
Posted by: Duane Davis | September 11, 2008 at 05:16 PM
Raised my ticket from $76 to $100 per game; I decided I'd spend my $100 elsewhere - I got 3 good tickets to see the BoSox, paid for parking and a couple of cokes too. Plus I wont be sweating my balls off with the scummiest creekers from in and around the Bay Area. Better use of th "C" note and I won't burn an entire day in the fake sombraro!

KingGator. get a better job and you may be able to support both teams financially. Until then, take your fairweather @$$ over to St. Pete because the far better than the Sombrero and "Crown Jewel of the NFL" doesn't need your type of scum in it's seats... unless of course your boy Elton John is in concert. Fairweathe rpuke!

Idiot comments like the one above make it really tough to see who are true Bucs fans. Yet, it doesn't at the sametime. How ironic.
You people disgust me.

Last time I went to a game, we had to get up out of our seats so many times for a bunch of yahooos at the end of the row = I thought I was at a gym working out! I made them wait one time cuz it was first and goal and the QB was under center. Now I stay at home with the 46 inch LCD and party with my friends. Less money, better view, instant replay+DVR, and more fun!

and you have the nerve to talk smack, you pathetic, bandwagon-jumping 'casual fan'
I've been going since the early 80's when you could get tickets free, been a season ticket holder since 90, and still am.
sold my ticket, and I would have been pissed if there weren't more chumps like yourself out there to buy the left overs.

What do you mean "difficult to buy tickets?" To avoid ticketmaster, I go to the Rays Store in Downtown Tampa to get my tickets. If you want Bucs tickets, go to the ticket office - there are regular season tix still available.
TM might be a rip-off, but it's hardly "inconvenient." You can print your tickets at home or have them left at Will Call. The fees are high, but that's why I go out of my way to avoid them.
Even if you DON'T want to actually GO to the stadium for your tix, you can get them on the street EVERYWHERE for less than face value.
And what security are you talking about? They don't pat you down. They look in your bag (if you have one) and check out your binoculars, but there are no metal detectors or wands or anything at RJS or the Trop. It doesn't sound like you have EVER been to a game.
Personally, I don't think you HAVE a hi-def TV, because you are so stupid, you can't have a job that actually allows you to afford one. What are you getting for a Filet-o-Fish these days?

Actually no, I was 15 in 1998 when I started sitting in section 306 with my dad and his friends... these days I own my dad's friends tickets after they had two kids and decided they couldn't spare the time anymore. I've been going to Bucs games since I was around ten or so. One of the most memorable was the Pack@Bucs in 1995... Husted kicks, it's good!

This is exactly why I am not a Buc fan!!!!They were the laughing stock for 20 years then they win a few games in the playoffs and everyone is a fan, waving there little flags on their cars. I was born across the street from that stadium and will never support them. The bandwagoneers are slowly leaving the scene now that the excitement is fading away. I have been to some games and most of the fans are ignorant loudmouth losers and I know more football than 90% of them. It is time for all the sports teams to take a hike from this fair weather fan town. As much as you hated players like Sapp he was one of the reasons people came to the games, not the vanilla cheeseheads on the field now. And Dumas's like Duemig have really no clue about sports anywhere

I smell about 50 trolls and another 50 fairweather (pun intended) fans.
You all are pure garbage. Go root for the Jets.
Posted by: Jon | September 11, 2008 at 09:52 PM
The Bucs should move to St Pete!
Tampa should be ashamed they cannot even sell out the home opener. And they want the Rays too? Fat chance.
The Rays have turned the corner and are a winning franchise and will stay in St Pete. Now I am laughing hard at the Tampa fans who like to bash St Pete.
Posted by: Steve | September 11, 2008 at 10:40 PM
So Chris, you're not a Buc fan because of other "Buc Fans"? I think you've found the ignorant bunch of tools that represent a small amount of Bucs fans... the true Tampa fan pwns.

After one loss, there sure are alot of Buc haters here. At least we know who the true fans are.

Is it wrong for fans to get tired of the ridiculouseness that is coming from the Bucs, and im not talking about the player.I know that every sunday they go and play thier heart out, but i just can't give a free pass any more to coach Gruden. After the super bowl win i waited with excitement for the next season, all the while watching key player leave. The Years after the super bowl have been dissapointing, you can all me what you want, say im a fair weather fan, but i think the proof is in the pudding, if they say this is a " what have you done for me now league" then lets look at Grudens record. It doesn't look impressive and no one can argue that. I think it's time for a change in the coach, Raheem Morris, or better yet Monte Kiffin. Grudens record as a coach and a person dictates that he should be fired. Maybe Dungy didn't getthe Bucs to the super bowl, but at least he was consistent, the team was good, and he was a person the players liked and respected, a man of class that "top free agents" wanted to play for. All of the elite free agents the Bucs targeted signed with other teams, coincedence, i don't thnk so.the word is out on Gruden he is not a coach you can trust, the Bucs are not an organization you can trust.I am a Bucs fan, have been one for a while but i won't sit here and say that this is a good team when it isn't just for the sake of avoiding being called a fair weather fan. I will watch the game sunday and hope for a win but expect a loss, because honestly right now the Bucs don't look that good.

I love the people who think just because they have been going to games for so long that makes them a superfan or something. Some people cannot afford to be season ticket holders, that doesn't make them any less of a fan. Other people do not live in the area, but they still support the team. For all you jerk offs that believe that you are the best bucs fan because you have had your season tickets since the 80's or 90's. Nobody cares. Self centered a-holes.
Posted by: bucsd | September 12, 2008 at 10:07 AM
The Bucs got what they deserved. 67% non renewel of seats. I think the word "GREED" comes to mind. I had 4 season tickets for 15 years, helped pay for the "Crown Jewel" and what do I get? A $1,200 increase in my seats!
Thanks for nothing, you bunch of "Snake Oil Salesman", all my Buc money is now at the TROP!

Ive been a BUCFAN since 1976 and they`re my team no matter what. If you say your a BUCFAN since 1996, where ya been? Lose or win my BUCS are my favorite with or without all the drama. I want to see them wear the orangesicle uniforms for at least one game this year. Thats a true BUCFAN...........
Posted by: STIXX | September 12, 2008 at 01:42 PM
Smart man, Dave. Been to few Rays games this year, and may soon actually become a 'real fan' of the Rays, instead of just a 'casual' fan :)
I also 'sold' my ticket, actually to one of the guys I go with so he could take his daughter.
But honestly, I would have tried to sell it anyway.
Watching the game at home with my son, in the pool, free parking, .50 cent hotdogs and w/ a case of beer that cost $18 instead of a $12 beer, is so much better....

You're not real Bucs fans and those of us who are don't give a sh!t what you think really! Go sit at home on your fat @sses and watch the game with your ugly wives while we dance and sing in the shanty town endzone with some scantily clad babes watching our beloved Bucs pummel the Falcons! Can you say...Losers???

It is very insightful to compare the posts on this papers Bucs and Lightning Blogs.
Lightning fans appear to be passionate, educated, knowledgable and capable of intelligent discourse.
Buc fans seem mostly to be poorly educated scatalogical High School sophmores with raging testosterone, and very little social skills.
Interesting.

Kurt's in the house keeping it real. I'll be there too (of course) - see you in the end zone, K.
And all those fans of the Trop do realize the Rays are jockeying for a new stadium where likely these very same complaints will eventually be lodged...

you can still get groups of tix in 4s and 5s, upper and lower deck. i want to know how they declared it a "sellout."
Posted by: mcd | September 13, 2008 at 12:40 PM
Rich, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I was dismayed about the way they let Dungy go. The Super Bowl was fantastic, but we have gone from being known as a quality & character organization to being Gruden's favorite felons. And Gruden's offensive genius somehow falls short of the troublesome Shula/Steckel production we used to see. How many losing seasons now? And how many more, if not for the spotty NFC South teams? Add that to the word around the league -- that Gruden will say anything and mean nothing -- and it just does not look good for the short-term future. I finally gave up my tickets -- after commuting from Daytona, I moved to Jax and no longer have the free time to make the weekly drive. But I was OK with giving them up in light of (1) the ridiculous ticket prices and (2) Gruden's extension. Love the Bucs, have since the creamsicle days, but can't wait to see Gruden gone.
On a different note, maybe someone can explain to me why not buying tickets or loving Gruden means -- at least to the non-spellchecking 20ish kids on the board -- you are a "hater"? Seems to me there are a lot of ways to cheer for and support your team. I think the Sept. 13/7:24 am fan is on to something.
Posted by: Mike | September 14, 2008 at 08:05 PM
ok buc fans don't get to excited, because let's face it, the Falcons big win came at the hands of "Detroit" that was not so special. Atlanta might have been exposed, there rookie QB learned a vauable lesson, and looked exactly like a rookie.
