Do you think we could bench Gruden and Start another coach in his place. He can't coach at all.

Lucia

Well, Well,Well ,wonder if Stupid
Gruden thinks that Griese should still
be the starter instead of Garcia. All
I've read is how great Griese is & he
has a head for football,what a joke.
Maybe today's loss will have Gruden
reconsidering his choice for starter.
If not maybe a few more lost games will. Then maybe the Glaziers will finally get wise & shipp Gruden off.

Ricky

BUCS WIN!

Idiot's

Lucia and Jim are MORONS, what a win by Tampa. This type of win is a great builder for the year....Everyone stepped up, albeit there were way to many mistake...Great game...GO BUCS!!!

Feesh

I'll say it again. All of you haters can leave and go criticize another team. You aren't true Buc fans and we don't want you anymore! Go jump on another bandwagon!

Go Bucs!

eric

the play caling was great against the #1 defense..griese stayed focus tryin to read a zero coverage blitz all day..props to the oline.. the bears took away the run we had to beat them by the pass chalk up a W!!!!!!!!GO BUCS

Leo

The Bucs were challenged and they rose to the occasion. What a resilient bunch! 2-1 and tied for first in the division. The first quarter of the season looks good so far.

Get rid of Dexter Jackson.Too many plays over the middle. Can't griese get the ball to the outside? He was not scaring the defense. Hoping to have Davin Joseph back in the lineup next week. The Bears tried to pick on Zuttah all day but he help up well for a rookie. That's my 2 cents.

shane

I bet griese is going to have some soreness in his arm by the end of tonight. Other than that the Bucs had no run game, joey and aquib out and still found a way to win. What a game and what a win for this team. Go Bucs!!!!

DR

It was a solid win, but ugly. The Bucs cannot play like this against the good teams on their schedule or else they'll be done by half time. It will never make any sense to me when the Bucs have the best run per carry in the league and they throw the ball 67 times. They threw the ball 41 times against the Saints and it cost them the game. It doesn't make sense when the weakness is the passing game.
Luckily the refs missed Truebloods bone headed play in OT or else the Bears would have had great field position. You fans that cried about missed calls in the past, remember this missed call.

Turk

How about that O-line? Griese can run a two minute clock as well as P. Manning imo. We still need a LOT more work in our passing game. It hurts seeing Ronde getting beat. Exciting game but how many of those are we gonna be able to handle?

John P

All I can say is - Wow. After 30 years of seeing teams have miracle comebacks against the Bucs - it's nice to watch one on the winning side.

STIXX

THANKS FOR TRYING TO DOWNPLAY A WIN DR...

eric

u gruden haters are eating a lot of crow right now. this game should silence yall for a few days.. for the real buc fans this win will set the tone for the season. what a confidence booster to go in enemy territory and pull this out.. WINNERS NEVER QUIT....GO BUCS

Felix

I say we bench lucia and jim...anyways, hell of a win, even with the constant blitz pouring in through the left and right we managed to contain them and buy time time for griese to get those crucial 1st downs. I think the offense shined in the no huddle. The bears were huffin and puffin during the no huddle and called a timeout to give themselves a break. Do you honestly think Garcia could run a better no huddle? Griese leaves much room for improvement with 3 interceptions and thats what film study is for. GO BUCS!!!

its nice to have an o-line that allows more than half a second for the qb to go thru some reads. there were soe bad decisions by griese. yes its true but every single qb in the league makes bad decisions sometimes if the end result adds to the w column then the qb did his job. antonio bryant looked like a totally different person today. he was thown the ball and the most amazing thing happened he put his hands up and caught the ball go bucs

Capt.Tim

Great win against a very good Bears team. Should help get some momentum going our way.good to see we can win with the passing game when the Bears strategy was to take away the run

Tom

Gruden and Dexter Jackson should both be run out town!!!!

Voc

Glad to see Clayton step up and make some plays... Still not 100% sold on Griese but that is all we have... Overall I will take the victory

Go Bucs

eric

quote from coach gruden: HI HATERS, HI HATERS...GO BUCS!!

stephen

Great game by the O-line and D-line. We won that game in the trenches. Nice game by griese. he He really turned it around in the last couple drives. If he can fix his passes that sail on him and his boneheaded interceptions this is a 11 win team. Go Bucs

ByeBye dexty jackson. this is the nfl ur gonna get hit

Well we got the win and on the road. I'll take 2-1.

That being said Griese looked bad. I dont care if he knows the offense and makes the right audibles. He cant throw the ball down the field with any accuracy.

Gruden needs to either suck it up and put Garcia back in or officially hand the offense over to McCown.

On defense Barber was getting picked on. He's still great in the slot on nickel packages but he's struggling in man coverage. I dont want to use the much over-used 'lost a step' but I'll just say I'm glad we spent our first round pick on Talib and found a gem in Mack.

Voc

Totally agree about Dexter Jackson... Where the HELL is Michael Spurlock... Lets get him back on the team...

Vince

The Great news is that Tampa won, and Griese threw for a week 3 high of 407 yards (as of 5PM EST)! The bad news is the 3 int's almost negates that effort completely. The Bears came in with the 6th highest ranked over all defense, so not a bad outing, but the Bucs defense surrendered 24 points to the 24th ranked Bears offense, which we can blame on the Int's thrown by Griese. I'm left feeling "more lucky than good", yet you've got to start somewhere! It's good when you can have 3 int's and still win, it shows that the Defense can bail you out of trouble, and that being aggressive on offense isn't such a huge risk after all. Imagine when the Tampa defense can start playing with a 17 point lead, thanks to an aggrssive Tampa offense that is able to get the yards without the int's? People will be so afraid of playing Tampa! -GO GRUDEN, GO TAMPA!

Robert Graham

It was a good hard fought win. Glad to see Gains Adams step up and play hard. I think Michael Clayton is ready to play finally, Gruden needs to play him more.Ruud is a beast!!! We are 2-1 with Green Bay coming to town next win. Let's hope we can go 3-1 in the first quarter.

JH

The good news? 1) Very resilient team, and this will easily be a confidence-builder. To beat Chicago in their home opener is huge! 2) Say what you want about him, Jerramy Stevens stepped up as did some of the other receivers (perhaps, with the exception of Maurice Stovall). 3) Marcus Hamilton held his own today until the end of the game. Think about it: the Bucs won without key players in their nickel package! 4) How about Ruud with the interception!

The bad news? 1) special teams almost lost the game (e.g. Chicago's fake punt that almost went for a TD, Michael Clayton's non-call fumble, and Dexter Jackson's running. Perhaps, Bisaccia is doing too much and needs help; 2) Bucs running game suffered a bit but give the Bears credit: they have one heck of a defensive line.

pat

The Bucs should thank the refs for that personal foul call on third down it overtime. both teams pushing eachother, but only chicago gets a penalty. what a joke.

DR

I agree Pat. And in that situation, that call is almost as bad as the Denver call last week. It more than likely changed the outcome of the game.

Voc

All I have to say to Pat is what about the personal foul called against the bucs in the 1st quarter where Alex Brown pushed first... Let's just call it even with the personal foul on the BUCS. If the Bears wanted to win that game they should have STOPPED the BUCS from driving in OT...

Sharon

I've spent most of my adult life in Tampa Bay, but I grew up in Evansville IN and was two years behind Bobby Griese in school, so from an emotional part of view, I really want to see Brian as the QB. I think he's a good one too. He certainly did well in college. But I am really not a Gruden fan and for the most part I watch the Colts. They have a better coach.

Jerramy Stevens FAN!

Jerramy Stevens...KUDOS to you and a job well done! I'm sick of everyone giving him a hard time. He committed that r@pe in 2000 - 8+ years ago? Even if he'd have went to prison, he'd have been released by now. Give the guy a break. He has not committed any violent crimes in Tampa, so let's welcome him with open arms. Bottom line, he'd be out of prison by now.

Nate Dogg

Two things:

1) DROPPED PASSES!! Make the most of the opportunities, Clayton, Smith, and Stovall! This is your flippin chance to do something!

2) Jeremy Trueblood= AJ Pierzenski (catcher for the white sox). Above average player who does whatever it takes to win. All teams that want even a SHOT to go far in a season has to have players like this.

ND

Steve

Said it before, Dexter Jackson was a bad pick for a second rounder. Does that TD against Houston still look good?

Way to pull it it out...
Ronde needs a bounce back game next week against a much better receiving corp and QB.

Alstott is a SAINT

Can we spell P-L-A-Y-O-F-F-S ?!?!?!?!?!? The Tampa Bay Rays who!!! It's Bucs time!!!!!

Nate Dogg

PS: a third thing:

Dexter Jackson...start pulling your worth, man! Start using your noodle!

ND

Steve

I see your point Pat but Tillman came flying in from left field to dive on that pile. Bad play on his part.

Mike

A win is a win....You are a fan or your not...SHUT UP HATERS

Jay

I'm worried about Ronde Barber. I love the guy as much as any die hard Buc fan out there, but on three separate plays, he got torched. I don't know if it's a height issue, but I'm concerned that he's been giving up the big plays this year in man to man. I realize that the defense tends to cheat TJax or Flip up to the line on play action to cover the run - which has been very effective 90% of the time. It's just those 10% big plays where Barber doesn't look his best. Still - he's one of the best open field tacklers, zone defenders, and overall cover CB that this league has ever seen. It just hurts to watch him lose a step.

Julio

I thought Clayton played well. Stovall not so much. Too many drops. But Mark Clayton is back to his rookie form, which is nice to see.

The Bucs have been victims of bad calls, phantom penalties and ticky-tack officials time and again. For something to bounce their way for a change is just a sign that maybe this year they're going to be a little luckier. I'll take it.

A win is still a win. Defense gave up too many big plays .... even Rhonde had a bad game.

Heard all the pluses and negatives on Griese. Dont know the stats of the bears defense but i think they are one of the top 'D's in the league esp this year. Griese threw two bad passes .... one that cost us a touchdown. Who's to say that Garcia would have done any better. Griese completed way more than enough to win a gutsy game.

Go BUCS !

Alfonso

I agree Jay. Barber has lost a step (perhaps two). Father Time is not on his side, not in a young man's league. He's a sacred cow though, so your point will be ignored like the proverbial multi-ton elephant in the room.

John Klopfer

I was wrong about Antonio Bryant...the boy has game. I was wrong about letting go of Ike (because of his age). I was wrong about Mo Stovall...he does not need to be in the starting line-up. I wasn't wrong when I said the Bucs would beat d'Bears.

Domenic Rizziagno

Jeff Garcia is a bum! We'd have LOST if Garcia was at the helm. Gruden is a GENIUS for installing Griese as the starter, as demonstrated by today's win, the BIGGEST Bucs win since the Oakland Super Bowl victory. Jeff Garcia WHO?!?! Trade him, cut him, ask him to stay home, whatever. Does anyone else feel like we'll be watching ourselves at RJS in this year's Super Bowl?!!!

Dale

I know, I know. It was Coach Dungy's team that won today. Great game. I survived a heart attack. Too bad we wasted a second round draft pick this year though. Go bucs.

Brian

Nice win for our Bucs because we fought hard and NEVER gave up--that is what you want to see. Specifics: Defense overall very good. The line played awesome in the first half, started to tire in 2d when the O' could not stay on the field. The time of possession which is a huge stat in early hot games, was far against us. Love Ronde but starting to worry about his coverage--the NFL is brutal, when they sense any weakness they go right after it--gotta watch that.

Offense: really miss Davin up front on our run blocking. On that early pitch to Graham, if Penn makes his block, it is at least a 20 yard run. Penn blocks Ok for the pass, but does not get out to his man on the run--Davin is great at that! Griese is way too inconsistent---terrible on any pass over 30 yards--and that will kill the running game. Why has Gruden, the O' genius, QB guru, not traded for or drafted a young QB to groom in all these years? Using other teams 2d or 3rd cast offs is not way to build for a solid QB situation. I said we should have used our 2d round pick on Brian Brohm--which brings me to...

Special teams: Kick coverage was poor--if Devin Hester was in the game, we may have easily given up a TD. Good to see Bryant kicking well. Dexter Jackson--ugh! Never understood that pick--drafted way to high--others were available (see Brohm comment above) That kid seems to be afraid of being hit by NFL players. He "slips" every time he touches the ball. On the first kick-off, if he stays up, he had room around the left to run at least 20 more yards. On the punt he caught while running-where he "slipped" again, if he catches it on the run and keeps going it was wide open in front of him. it looks like the kid does not put his feet down, or plant them when he runs--bizarre!!!!

BuccanBobby

Hey DRibble,
This is the NFL, there are no style points, there is no fairness....it's binary....somebody wins and somebody loses! The how and the why is left for idiots like you to cast your "DRivel" upon the print media. You reference the "missed call" on Trueblood...how many "missed calls" are there in a game...5---12---20? This is a column for Buc fans, take your DRooling to another team. Get over it... try celebrating the victory, they overcame a great run stopping defense and their own self-inflicted mistakes.
BuccanBobby

ben bolt fan

This is the kind of road win you have to come up with. Stats are for losers, except the ints. But 67 passes is CRAZY for a road game. Nine wins will win this division again, so this could be the one they needed to win. Remember this team was 2-4 in the last six games and both wins were against Atl. GREAT WIN. I am so glad it is hockey season and the bolts are going to be fun.

Johnny

Jeremy Stevens fan, you must not have a daughter, sister, girlfriend, or any female friends.
He is a DIRT BAG>>>
