Practice squad takes shape

The Bucs hit the practice field on Labor Day with some familiar faces hired to the practice squad.

Running back Clifton Smith, receivers Michael Spurlock and Brian Clark, cornerback Marcus Hamilton, tight end Daniel Fells and defensive tackle Dre Moore were all signed to the practice squad.

All six players were released Saturday when the team trimmed its roster to 53 players.

The Bucs also signed cornerback Brandon Sumrall, who was released by the Minnesota Vikings, and guard Julius Wilson, who was released by the Rams Aug. 30.

Safety Sergey Ivanov will also be on the practice squad as part of the NFL International Practice Squad program and does not count against the eight-man roster.
