Another exciting game. Only 2 games but we are starting to see who will be contributing as time moves on. EG & Dunn looking good. Gaines belongs @ LDE & White @ RDE. Sabby is trying too hard. Some of their vets are looking finished but again it is early. Hilliard is THE MAN! Let's go get Chicago.

Can anyone tell me who the two dousch bags were that were calling that game. By listening to them i would have thought they were going for Atlanta. Can we get some guys who will call the game and root for us. Nice job today Bucs!

Its no excuse for Graham not getting the football 20-25 times a game. We were leading the entire game. The inexperience of Matt Ryan cost the Falcons this game in my opinion. Coach Gruden needs to stop tring to be so cute. RUN THE FOOTBALL PLEASE!
Posted by: archangeladidas | September 14, 2008 at 07:31 PM
WE NEED TO RUN THE BALL ALOT MORE! WE HAVE A GREAT RUNNING ATTACK FINALLY AFTER ALL THESE YEARS! GOOOBUCCCSS!!
Posted by: STIXX | September 14, 2008 at 07:41 PM
Well, Greise didn't win this game, but he didn't lose it. Gruden said Brian was starting for one game. Does this mean McCown starts against da Bears?
To Earnest and Warrick: Good game
To Sabby: What were you thinking?
To Jeff Garcia: If you get one more chance, it will only be one more.
Posted by: Jay | September 14, 2008 at 07:44 PM
Glad the running game bailed the Bucs out. Can someone tell me what Gruden's fascination is with Antonio Bryant? He dropped a couple of passes again today and he appeared to have quit on a route. I just don't see what he's done to merit starting over Hilliard or the others.
Posted by: Don | September 14, 2008 at 07:50 PM
Griese, a win is a win. But the guy is a backup. No pop. I love the human. I dislike the quarterback. Please, we need a guy who will give us the ability to win when down by 3 or 10. Griese is not it. 100 some-odd yards of passing? Not NFL ready especially against the Falcons.
Posted by: montana tom | September 14, 2008 at 07:51 PM
Oh and Ike Hilliard. Thank YOU!
Posted by: Montana Tom | September 14, 2008 at 07:52 PM
Guys and girls; how about a trade with the Raiders? Straight up, Gruden for Lane Kiffin!! Before you start the "what is wrong with this idiot" stuff, think about it! If you are a FOOTBALL Fan you will do your homework and then critisize.
Posted by: BogieDr | September 14, 2008 at 07:53 PM
Screw this. Honey, pack the bags and the baby, we're goin' to San Francisco.
Posted by: Jeff Garcia | September 14, 2008 at 07:54 PM
Why don't the they put Ben Troupe in the game. He has too much talent to not play.....
Posted by: | September 14, 2008 at 07:56 PM
It isn't the announcers' job to root for your favorite team. They are impartial. Cheering is for fans and cheerleaders.

I'm available
Posted by: Daunte Culpepper | September 14, 2008 at 07:57 PM
Then why were the announcer's cheering for Atlanta?
Posted by: Gene Deckerhoff | September 14, 2008 at 07:59 PM
Smash mouth football!
Posted by: Gene Deckerhoff | September 14, 2008 at 08:00 PM
Although a win is a win, this was an ugly, pathetic, red headed siamese twin stepchild of a win. Bucs should have blown out these losers. Instead, we had to suffer through watching nonsense like Piscitelli's illegal forward fumble recovered lateral pass whoseamawhatsit, and Griese should have hit on at least one of those wide open deep routes. This level of play will not beat the Bears.
Posted by: DV | September 14, 2008 at 08:00 PM
The announcers were not cheering for atlanta. You people are just retards.
Posted by: RD | September 14, 2008 at 08:01 PM
Oh yeah? Well YOU people are just RD's!!!!!
Posted by: Retard | September 14, 2008 at 08:03 PM
I Agree with Commenter Laura above, those clowns broadcasting need to hit the road. We need someone to broadcast our local home games that actually has an interest in the bucs and not seem to be rooting for the falcons. This isn't the first time this is happened. This has happened as far back as I can remember way into the creamsicle days.

1 and 1. Won a division game. Go Bucs! (Go Rays!)
Posted by: hammer | September 14, 2008 at 08:05 PM
what is the story with Michael Bennett ??
Did he even get in the game ??
Posted by: Tim | September 14, 2008 at 08:06 PM
Ok, type San Francisco in the old GPS and hit enter. Everybody buckled up?
Posted by: Jeff Garcia | September 14, 2008 at 08:07 PM
We want Jeff Garcia! Give us Jeff Garcia next week.
Posted by: fritz | September 14, 2008 at 08:10 PM
California here we come, right back where I started from....c'mon girls, sing it with me
Posted by: Jeff Garcia | September 14, 2008 at 08:13 PM
I think Antonio Bryant and Ike Hillard will be your starting receivers next week, as Joey "Mr Glass" Galloway got rolled up on in the 3rd quarter and left early. Don't worry, he won't practice during the week anyway.
I think Buchanon is trying very hard to lose his starting job by watching the QB instead of his responsibilities in man coverage. I also question his tackling skills as well, because twice in two weeks he's taken horrible angles and gone for the ankles.
I think Hovan is doing a great job in the middle, but he's not getting much help from Ruud when it comes to run defense. He's creating pressure but on several occasions there was a gap that was not being played, and a run that would normally be stopped at the line of scrimmage went for 5 or 6 yards.
I think the Bucs should trade Michael Bennett and Jeff Gacia while they can still get something for them. Neither are going to see the field anytime soon.
Lastly, I don't think that Dexter Jackson should not be fielding kickoffs and punt returns, as he has absolutely no field vision whatsoever. His only marketable skill is to run as fast as he can into the collapsing coverage, or try and jet around the outside. Unfortunately, in the regular season, teams don't make those kinds of mistakes. He looks tentative and skittish, and never hits the run at full speed. I hate to say it, but Spurlock did a better job.
Posted by: Jay | September 14, 2008 at 08:13 PM
I think the team rebounded in a positive way. Brain Griese wasn't lights out, but he was very smart with the football and make good decisions when they were available. the defense did a great job not allowing the big play and contained Michael turner very affectively. penalties were the worst part of the game, the bucs need to improve that for next week. Earnest Graham has a great day when used especially the 68 yard touchdown run that sealed the game. Overall great game!

You morons need to realize that announcers for regular season games are being broadcast on national networks, not Tampa tv stations. They are impartial, and never have nor will ever be Tampa based or in favor of the Bucs...if you hate it that much, hit mute and turn on your radio. I swear, I bet most of you have never in your lives ever left the state of Florida.
Posted by: RD | September 14, 2008 at 08:18 PM
Well played game by the Buccaneers. Our defense made Matt Ryan look like a fool, and made Turner seem non-existent. The two early turnovers were key to our victory. In terms of offense, Graham and Dunn played awesome. Griese didn't do anything Garcia could not have done, but I would still start Griese next week. Our special teams were decent. Bidwell and our Coverage teams did awesome, but our returns were not good. Dexter Jackson is afraid to get hit! I think he is a bust. Coach Jon Gruden had a better day playcalling and made a good decision with Griese.
All in all, I thought that we should have slaughtered these Falcons, but a win is a win and a division win is even better.

A win is a win and that can't be discounted. Griese was okay but had another turnover which is his M.O.; Critical turnovers. Sabby made a critical error, let's hope he learned from it. I'm ready for Garcia to come back. 4 ints last year plus his attitude make him a better choice. O-line is adequate run blocking and a mess pass blocking. I'm hoping we improve or this team is .500 at best.

Folks, it's going to be a looooong season. (Ironically, that means the Bucs won't be playing in January.)
Simply put, the Bucs don't have enough playmakers on offense, especially with the Glass Tiger on the sidelines ... again.
To make matters worse, with all of the penalties, the Bucs are shaping up as one of the most undisciplined teams in the NFL.
In closing, I have a questions for any cunning linguists out there: is "Sabby" Italian for "doofus"?
Ciao!
Posted by: The Godfather | September 14, 2008 at 08:34 PM
I love Ike. I love Ernie G. I love Warrick...the secondary giveth and the secondary taketh away.
The penalties were ridiculous, fire the refs. An illegal forward pass is not a fumble, CRIPES!
Posted by: melissa | September 14, 2008 at 08:41 PM
Sabby is as Sabby does. Griese's fumble was Penns' fault, he got beat. Garcia is bad, with happy feet, Griese stand tall in the pocket much better. And he dont run to Garlic Fest instead of practice like Gaycia.
Posted by: Juan | September 14, 2008 at 08:44 PM
what are you talking about?
Posted by: melissa is confused | September 14, 2008 at 08:45 PM
Sabby is short for Sabatino. But yes, he is, as you say, a doofus.
Posted by: Carlito Brigante | September 14, 2008 at 08:48 PM
Put me in coach, I'm ready to play! No really!
Posted by: Glass Joe the White Tiger | September 14, 2008 at 08:51 PM
I think Galloway and Garcia should be traded or cut.
Posted by: DR | September 14, 2008 at 08:52 PM
I agree with most of you that said we need to run more. Grahm only got a handfull of carries last week and almost broke 100 yards. This week he only got 16 and did break 100. We have two good backs and what is suppose to be a physical offensive line that we've spent a lot of high first round draft picks on. So lets do what we drafted them for running the ball. Gruden is trying to be too cute with things. Run the ball down their throats to set up the play action pass. And then Galloway and our other recievers will get that extra help they need to get open. Besides if we get into a rythm running the ball now when our best lineman comes back then things will only get better. Last but not least it will keep the deffense off the field and keep them fresh so we can rush the passer and maybe force them into more mistakes. This is getting long so I'm going to end it here. I've got a lot more to say but a win is a win and I'm not complaining. (Start Garcia next week)
Posted by: bucs fan 4 life | September 14, 2008 at 08:53 PM
Garcia might start next week, but it wont be for the Bucs! Bank it! He's as good as gone, just like he was when he put Garlic Festival ahead of football on his priority list.
Posted by: DR | September 14, 2008 at 09:04 PM
Does anyone know when the next Garlic Festival is?
Posted by: Garcia | September 14, 2008 at 09:07 PM
Doesnt look like Garcia will be starting anytime soon which is a total shame. Saw on ESPN that the bucs talked with 49ers about a possible trade for garcia but 49ers were not interested. So seems like we have seen the last of Garcia for whatever reason. Does anyone know why the sudden change of heart with Gruden on Garcia? Garcia was his boy last year as he was always boasting about him. I think we are finished with griese as qb. He will not make things happen as Garcia did last year.
Posted by: Wayne | September 14, 2008 at 09:27 PM
THE POWERS THAT BE HAD THE ENTIRE OFF SEASON, PRESEASON & ONE GAME UNDER THEIR BELT TO GET IT RIGHT, AND IT WAS STILL ALL THEY COULD DO TO OUT SCORE A ROOKIE QB. GRUDEN SHOULD RETIRE TO THE PORTA POTTIE FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON. LET SOMEONE ELSE CAPTAIN THE SHIP. WOULD MR.GM PLEASE PUT CAPTAIN BLIGH IN A LONG BOAT AND CAST HIM ADRIFT.

Posted by: Bruce Allen | September 14, 2008 at 09:52 PM
im still confused about the fumble/illeagle foward pass/late hit play. first off once the ball changes possesion doesnt the qb become any other defender on the feild 2nd once qb breaks line of scrimmage isnt he fair game with a live ball macks hit was a bit cheap but as far as i could tell definetly legal. This part im not positive about but also isnt an illegal foward pass down and play dead once ball hits ground as far as i know this is true terrible officiating all game calling tick-tac fouls on every punt holding on every run more than 10 yards for both teams sometimes you have to let them play like every other game i watched this sunday
Posted by: jj | September 14, 2008 at 10:12 PM
griese was not a big improvement but he got the job done.....i will say it again he was an improvement....good job griese,eg and gang....GO BUCS

I have been a fan since 1976, and it does bother me to be way up here in Idaho, reading all the criticizm of our coach and our team! Go BUCS!
We need to appreciate the team we CHEER for! Go BUCS!!!! 10-6

I just have a couple of questions. And this really isn't just from today's game. Does anyone know what that knucklehead of a "fan" is with the face paint and the rhino horn on a hard-hat is supposed to be? I mean, really? That has absolutely nothing to do with a Buccaneer. AND, might I add, where in world was this guy back during the orange-and-white days with the 14 straight losing seasons? Tampa Stadium was always the "home away from home" for the visiting teams. I've loved the Bucs since I was a kid but I can't stand Buc "fans".
Posted by: Wes | September 14, 2008 at 11:15 PM
Hey Wes, you're all talk, the "guy" in the hard hat is in the stadium supporting the bucs and has been for some years now. Good for him, a dedicated fan. You, all talk, blah blah, orange and white. There are alot of us who were fans back then, and still are, hard hat may be one too. You sound kind of envious. Find a girl, or maybe DR will go out with you if you can break him away from his Romo doll.

way too many penalties for the bucs. and griese needs to go back to the bench.
