Alstott to be honored Sunday
Former Pro Bowl fullback Mike Alstott will be honored at halftime when the Bucs host the Seattle Seahawks in a nationally televised game Sunday night, the team announced in a news release.
The game will begin with a special nighttime flyover prior to kickoff. All fans will receive a Mike Alstott commemorative gate giveaway, and there will be special halftime ceremonies.
Alstott retired in January after 12 seasons with the Bucs. He was a key component in turning the franchise into a perennial contender. He owns club records for most touchdowns scored (71), most rushing touchdowns (58) and most Pro Bowl appearances by an offensive player (6).
In addition to being the face of the franchise on the field, Alstott has been heavily involved with local charities, including the Children's Cancer Center, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, The Joshua and Special Olympics.
In the 2007 offseason, he and his wife Nicole formed the Mike Alstott Family Foundation with the goal of assisting in the uplifting of the minds, hearts and spirits of families and children on their way to realizing their full potential through various events, assistance programs and celebrations.

I'm so excited to have Mike honored on Sunday. I hope everyone stays in their seats at half time to show how much he means to this town.

Hails to Mike. He's earned it.
PS - when Derrick Broks retires, we need to have an entire commemorative season for him. Sorry Alstott fans, but Brooks is Mr. Buccaneer.

Does anyone know if his jersey # is going to be retired at this ceremony? I sure hope so!

I think he should get his number retired oficially. (You know nobody is going to wear that number again). He's simply MR. #1 - B Buccaneer. (Brooks is #1)

Come on guys,
Mike Alstott was insane, ... @$#%ing insane to come back from his spinal injury and play pro ball. Yet his love for the game brought him back. All true fans of football have gotta respect his grit.
I loved watching him play, especially when he returned. Yet, I wouldn't have been able to forgive myself (as a fan, for contributing to his placing himself back on the field) if something horrible happened.
This Sunday I am going to cheer Mike Alstott, his long history with our Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the good health of him and his family.

They need to erect a big bronze statue of Alstott. He was never used appropriately.
I bet if he was in an offense like the Steelers, he would have numbers like Jerome Bettis or pretty close.

Suit him up! That would be a great commemorative game!

How lucky are we to be debating on Mr. Buccaneer: having 2 such incredible players and people to choose from such as Mike Alstott and Derrick Brooks. They are both class acts, wonderful people and we are lucky to have them as part of our community and to have had Mike as part of the Bucs for so long, and Derrick continuing to be a Buc.

It is not an either or concerning Alstott or Brooks. Alstott and later Derrick Brooks when he retires deserve special recognition by the Buccaneer organization and all Buccaneer fans.
I work Monday morning but I will be cheering Alstott Sunday night even though I will not get back home until 2 a.m Monday morning.

A Train Personified the Bucc's smash mouth football. They shluld put together a DVD of his 2 yard runs where he runs over 5 or 6 Defenders. The stadium and even the Defense stood on their feet when we started the ball control. U Tube has some of these run. THANKS MIKE !!!!!!!

I'm on the Retire the Number bandwagon.
I just can't imagine another Buc with No. 40 on his back.

Where's all you clowns who bash Gruden? Is his #9 ranked Offense enough?
What about his Top-5 ranked running game? How's that doing for ya's?
Bums.
Btw DR, ahahahahahahaha... losers!!!

DR/Dumbwig has nothing to say. Gruden and the Bucs are getting the job done.
The Cowboys are reading too many of the press clippings. They are garbage. Wade Phillips is a joke, always has been. Bucs with #9 Ranked offense, great running game...what do you have to say now!!??

Being from Philly and a Buc Fan, it's always gratifying for me to walk out in my Jugger-stott Jersey and get all the hater looks from Eagle fans. Now, I'm getting my #40 framed!
