Brooks, Bryant named Players of the Week
Kicker Matt Bryant and linebacker Derrick Brooks were recognized by the league for their emotional performance in Sunday's 30-21 win over Green Bay Sunday.
Bryant was named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Week and Brooks was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Week.
Bryant, who played just one day after the funeral for his 3-month-old son, Tryson, made all three field goal and extra point attempts. Bryant's 23-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter proved to be the game-winner.
Brooks had an interception, forced a fumble that was returned for a touchdown by safety Jermaine Phillips, three passes defensed, five tackles and two tackles for a loss.
"We played well as a team and a defense last week and it's very humbling for me to win this award,'' Brooks said.
"I was just a lot healthier. For the past couple weeks, I had been out there basically giving them what I had and that was less than 100 percent. I was a lot healthier this past week and the opportunity presented itself for me to make more plays and I did. If I'm out there fully healthy, I'm going to make plays.''

Good for both of them, especially Bryant. I cant believe he was even out there. But he did great, as usual.

I wish they would make that commercial again, but update his stats and cast Leeroy Selmon as the bus driver.

Good for both of them. I love the quiet way the Bucs just go out and play. No hoopla here. I kind of hope they continue to stay under the radar.

Derrick Brooks is THE class act of the NFL. There should be a lot more of him and a lot less of the T.O.-type drama queens that only care about themselves.

Brooks is bar none my favorite player and I am excited that he won (kudos to Bryant as well, especially given the situation), but what happened to the voting for Ruud? Brooks wasn't even listed for that honor on NFL.com. Is this a different award?

There's a reason I wear a 55 jersey every game day here in beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Who said there's no hoopla here. I 've got the party hat on, the confetti falling and the old bottle of bubbly in my hand.
He-yah, Whoopee, lets party hardy.
I'm sincerely happy for Matt and Derrick

Derrick Brooks IS Derrick Brooks. what more can I say? he's still one of the best LB in the NFL (please don't debate this subject if you're a bucs fan) and besides he's a true gentleman. Bryant is a great story. Hey we won the game because of him. Congrats and hope we get more awards like a super bowl! lol.
