Bucs-Cowboys a national telecast
The Bucs-Cowboys game on Sunday will be the FOX network's primary game in the 1 p.m. time slot.
There will be some other regional matchups shown in certain parts of the country, but most fans not in close proximity to teams playing on FOX in the same time slot will see Tampa Bay at Dallas.
That means the Bucs essentially have back-to-back national games coming off last Sunday night's NBC appearance against the Seahawks. Of course, that game was being played opposite the Red Sox-Rays ALCS Game 7 and drew a record-low national audience for a prime-time game.
UPDATE: I now understand that the game will be shown to approximately 60 percent of the country.

Time to garner some Pro Bowl votes. No, not for Dallas. For the "Good Guys" There are a good number of Bucs playing very well in all 3 phases of the game. They only need a little face time to get the news out there.

I hate to say it, but don't nobody want to play the bucs right now! Yet, this is a very difficult challenge for Tampa. They have to contend with the fact that Dallas is crying and the league is listening. Dallas are the sympathetic underachievers. They are America's team who needs a win, and needs a win badly.
And then there's Tampa. There's Tampa, the team that isn't supposed to be atop the division, who even after a throttling of the Panthers, critiques still tote "Carolina", and even "the Saints", as the most likely to secure the NFC south top spot. There's Tampa, not supposed to be getting healthier! There's Tampa, destroying all the story lines that have been written, and rewritten, and are somehow not deserving a win against the preordained Cowboy's championship. Dallas is "the good guys" that are supposed to win out in the end! Tampa has no right to be there! Tampa isn't supposed to find Glory in going for the top seed in the play offs! Tampa is supposed to lay down and do their part to write the story of Dallas' triumph as the "most talented team in the NFL"! Poor Dallas doesn't have their quarterback! Poor Dallas can't get their receivers deep because they keep getting "jammed at the line". Well I just want to find out what Tampa is made of? I don't mind if they lose in a hard fought battle. But will they show up to face their "more deserved" opponents, with all the fierceness and inexorable force that they have shown in recent weeks? Or will they play their "role", and let Dallas win. Will they be predictable on offense again, and will the defense who has played so fluidly and seamlessly striking like a "silent Tidal wave, hitting the beach", all of a sudden start making mistakes, and let up from being "fierce lions"! Will Gruden be ready in all his "alchemy" to "dial up" some really amazing game plan, and send a message to the rest of the league that Tampa fears no one, and no team? Or will he resort to his "I don't trust my team" tactics, and play scared? Victory to TAMPA!

And I thought I was verbose! Most definitely ‘Nuff Said!
Posted by: Valrico Rick | October 23, 2008 at 07:03 PM
well said Vince. Dallas and tony homo are way overrated. DR will have something to say eventually(that is when his team starts winning again).

HA HA, YEAH I DESERVED THAT! I GUESS THAT's WHY THEY CALL ME A FAN! REMEMBER, FAN IS SHORT FOR FANATIC! G UILTY AS CHARGED!
Posted by: Vince | October 23, 2008 at 07:13 PM
Where's DR?
I guess we'll only see his mouth wide open again if Dallas beats Tampa Bay on Sunday, go freakin' Bucs!!!
Posted by: JTHV | October 23, 2008 at 07:32 PM
Go Bucs!! We must be ready to rise above every obscure infraction in the old stick it to the Bucs league rule book. Holdings and first and twentys will be the order of the day for the Bucs plus some calls we may never see again. If they can help the Cowboys they may bring into play the old Bert Emanuel rule that was put in place after the league stuck it to the Bucs in the playoffs a few years ago against the Rams. Look for the commentators which will probably be Troy Aikman and Moose Johnson to do their part and try to convince all of us in TV land how things are on the up and up. We can overcome all of this just like we did in the super bowl year but it will take beating not only Dallas but also the league.

One memory of the Bucs' playing in Dallas was in the play-off game when Doug was QB. Bucs kicked off & the 'Boys' returner was motoring upfield when he got gimpy--pulled hammie or sumpin. He began angling toward the s/l but still headed upfield, & a Tampa Bay gunner came down & clobbered him--we are talking yards inbounds-- & the zebras called a personal foul. I was so mad I almost put my fist thru the TV screen....

WELL FANS IT WASN'T TOO LONG AGO BACK IN 2002 WHEN EVERYONE WAS IN DISBELIEVE THAT LONELY 0-26 TAMPA BAY BUCCO'S WON THE SUPER BOWL OVER THE HIGHLY FAVORITE
OAKLAND MEAN/BAD RAIDERS. WE GUESS WHAT TAMPA BAY WON. I HOPE THAT TAMPA BAY WILL GO INTO DALLAS ON SUNDAY AND IN FRONT OF ALL THERE FANS WORLD WIDE AND BEAT THEM TO DEATH. AND BE 6-2. I JUST THINK THAT IF TAMPA KEEPS THERE HEAD ON THERE SHOULDERS THEY WILL WIN. I LIVE IN DALLAS, I WILL BE WEARING THE RED NO.28 JERSEY IN FRONT OF ALL THOSE DIE HEART FANS. 63 YRS YOUNG FROM TAMPA. WHO WILL BE VERY PROUD TO SUPPORT MY TEAM ALL THE WAY UP HERE. GO BUCS.

Just take care of the details, play with tenacity, and everything else will take care of itself. Go Bucs!

I'm disappointed that Romo won't be able to throw 5 TDs again against the Bucs. Maybe next year.
I find jobucs name ironic since he is talking smack with no knowledge. Aikman never calls games with Moose, he calls games with Joe Buck.
With the parody in the NFL at its highest, none of the games in any week can be predicted.
As always, I expect Dallas' talent to prevail in any week, but with how they have been playing it is a weak expectation. The only good thing going for the 'Boys is a 5 year old girl can predict what's coming from the Bucs on offense. With all of you dogging Romo, it would be great to see Demarcus Ware blind side Garcia and put him out of his misery. Garcia, it doesn't matter how great you play, you can throw 50 TDs this season, you're not getting your bonus check you rightfully deserve.

anybody know Galloway's status?

Hey who opened the tool box and let DR out? I knew he could not resist having to say something with the mighty Bucs going into Dallas. The Bucs will kill the Cowboys--bet on it!
My only concern is that the refs will make more ridiculous calls -for example all the celebrating penalties-- or non-calls like the obvious hold on Gaines Adams in the Saints game that was not called allowing Brees to throw the long pass for a first which was a critical play at the end of the game.
I think Herr Gooden has it out for the Bucs becuse Glazer got around the NFL rule on not allowing an owner to own a pro franchise other than one in the NFl, by owning M.U.- a soccer club outside the USA. Whatever the reason the Bucs always seem to get the short end of the calls, and it may be really bad in the Cowgirls game.
Posted by: Brian | October 24, 2008 at 08:53 AM
look at this.
we have potential for 5 straight home games..here's how. if we can win the nfc(which right now looks realistic)
with the last 2 regular season games at home. we can then have the first round bye with two more home games. then of course the super bowl is at home.
Posted by: bucsfanmann | October 24, 2008 at 09:27 AM
Three things: BEENABUC sounds like Brad Culpepper "tenacity".
DR, I think you were looking for the word "parity", as in equal. "Parody" means "farce" as in the way the Cowboys pretend to be a legitimate football team.
Looking at the upcoming competition, I like our chances of playing in our own Superbowl.
Posted by: Oldcrank | October 24, 2008 at 09:45 AM
The BUCCANEERS should win this game even if ROMO was playing. Lets hope so cause DR will talk smack if we dont the rest of the season. Of course when we win this weekend DR will say its because ROMO wasnt playing. And we will hear that buullcrap the rest of the saeson....GO BUCS!!
Posted by: STIXX | October 24, 2008 at 09:53 AM
Fourth thing: If the Cowboys don't make the playoffs, Wade is history.
Posted by: Oldcrank | October 24, 2008 at 09:55 AM
Greatest Cowgirls-Bucs memory was when we kicked their arses on Thanksgiving day a few years ago...on NATIONAL TV! What a coincidence....here comes the encore!
Posted by: Kinn Corn Karn | October 24, 2008 at 10:19 AM
we've already won as many games going into week 8 as we won in the whole of that 2006 season when the cowboys whooped us...this is a different team, and this time it's dallas who has the cover-your-eyes-awful QB.
brad, Tampa Bay loves you but 2002 was a long time ago. on Monday, you'll be contemplating retirement and your 3 interceptions as you sit in the tub trying to relieve the pain of getting knocked around by bucs lineman all sunday.
rays win, bucs win, bulls win....oh what the heck, lightning win too! another perfect weekend for the tampa bay area....
Posted by: skp | October 24, 2008 at 10:35 AM
Nothing would make my Sunday more glorious than for us to march into Dallas and give them an ole fashioned walloping!!! Dallas is overhyped by the media and touted as America's team. I got a feeling we will solidly defeat them.
GO BUCS!!!!
Posted by: BIGMIKE | October 24, 2008 at 10:53 AM
I like how you all are already making excuses, already blaming refs for calls that haven't been made. Thats about as retarded as it gets. The Bucs don't have the offense to kill anybody. If they blow anybody out, its because of the defense dominating.
Posted by: DR | October 24, 2008 at 11:04 AM
Hey DR. Grab your playboy mag and flashlight and get back in the closet.
Posted by: Dale | October 24, 2008 at 11:44 AM
Hey DR...
Joe Buck is calling the World Series. He won't be available for the Sunday game at Dallas, because he will be in Philly. So, it will probably be Moose. Now apologize to jobucs.
Posted by: Rob Holiday | October 24, 2008 at 12:08 PM
No, it will be Dick Stockton and Troy Aikman or Kenny Albert with Moose and Goose.
Posted by: mike | October 24, 2008 at 01:31 PM
I disagree with previous comments not wanting to see celebration penalties again. Hell, I hope for four or five of em, all in the endzone after a Garcia led drive for 6.
Posted by: mike | October 24, 2008 at 02:34 PM
Going to Dallas after what this team has been going through and the negative media coverage they have received is going to make this game very competetive and hard hitting. The Bucs should run the ball right up the gut on them most of the day and Bryant should have another decent day as well. Brad is a statue and should have another struggling day but we need to watch out for the 3 step drops and keep an eye on Whitten. Bucs should roll this team. GO BUCS!!
Posted by: Stephen | October 24, 2008 at 04:03 PM
Excuses? Hey DR sounds like you had one yourself talking about Tony "pinkie" Romo not being able to throw 5tds(which would not happen, that was 2 years ago and the team is better on defense this time).
Posted by: oar | October 24, 2008 at 04:17 PM
DR its all right id be pissed too is my teams season was going to heel like your is!HA HA

My brother called me to tell me that the Bucs-Seahawks game was the lowest-rated prime-time game ever, which was ironic to me, because I had just thought that day that if the Bucs were to beat Dallas right now, even in their current state, anywhere, anytime, it could be the London game, or a field in the middle of nowhere, the Bucs would get more exposure than they did last Sunday night; unfortunately, not to understate a victory in Dallas, but the media & fans, if the Bucs win, will say "but Dallas didn't have Romo, or Felix Jones, & Dallas wasn't at full-strength," which is why, honestly, I wish the Cowboys & the Bucs were both completely healthy because I believe Tampa, when healthy, can beat any team.
Among my 5 least favorite teams is Dallas, along with the Bears & the rest of the NFC South. I want Tampa Bay to beat Dallas in every phase, not just this Sunday, but every time they play them; I've never been & never will be a Dallas fan, unless Tampa Bay needs Dallas to win, which is rare, but this game will only determine whether the Bucs are good enough to beat a banged-up Dallas team, or not, & I believe they are good enough.
However, circumstances considered, I still believe this is the biggest challenge for the Buccaneers so far this season. Texas Stadium, the media circus with their relentless attention on Dallas, the Cowboys should NOT be underestimated; I expect to see them rise to the many challenges presented to them all week since their loss to the Rams, which is enough motivation--Dallas will be ready to smash the Buccaneers. For those reasons, I know Gruden is excited & will have the Bucs prepared; they know better than to buy all this pre-game stuff, even if Gruden adds to it by blowing some smoke about the Buc's "troubles" & what they'll do in certain formations. I may not like Dallas one bit, but I respect them. Let's hope Tampa's big D shows up in big D; if they do & the offense holds on to the ball, I believe they'll win.

DR- I know FOX network normally keep Troy and Moose seperated but this is big for the Boys and the league may have to use both to convince everyone the crap that's going to be called on the Bucs is legitimate. My personal favorite from Moose is " They will call that penalty everytime". I guess he doesn't realize we understand how it all works. Other times when there are questionable penaltys he will talk about when he played for the Cowboys. Who gives a crap? It's just distraction to take us away from the bad call. We will get acall our way early to offset the shafting that will occur late in the game to secure a Dallas victory. Then Troy Boy and Moose can refer back to the break our Bucs got in the first half.
Posted by: jobucs | October 24, 2008 at 06:33 PM
DR who let you out of the closet? I bet it was Jay or Rick Valrico. In case you haven't realized yet DR the bus have a top 10 offense and a top 10 defense can your boys claim that...didn't think so. And here's another interesting stat for you the bucs are 5-2 and are on a two game winning streak, the cowboys aren't doing all that well going 1-3 for the past month with that only win coming from an ugly victory over the struggling Bengals and coming off a complete thumping by the rams(THE RAMS!!!!)
Posted by: shane | October 24, 2008 at 11:49 PM
I love reading DR's ignorant rhetoric (more like nursery rhymes.) Your hatred for Gruden rivals that of the Jews hatred for Hitler. Well, at least they had reason, you on the other hand, I think are just showing p@nis evny! But that's ok, Gruden will be gunning for his franchise best win (over Dungy,) while he tries to win another division (which he already holds the record for in Tampa - over Dungy.) I realize the fact that his presence dillutes the chances of Dallas ever winning anything again in our Conference (now that our team is rebuilt to his liking,) but hey, that's the way it goes when you root for a pedestrian team with thugs like TO and PACMAN stalking the sidelines! GO BUCS and go away DR!!!
Posted by: Kurt | October 25, 2008 at 09:13 AM
Kurt, you get dumber and dumber every day. You're getting close to being nonexisitent. Wow, Gruden has records for Tampa. Gruden would have never won a division championship in the NFC Central. He has benefited from severe injuries in his division. Since 2002, every team in the South has gone to a NFC Championship game except who? Who exactly is Gruden holding down with his playoff record since 2002? Ahhh, nobody. Dallas' defense is terrible right now which is great for this match up. The two worst defenses the Bucs have faced, they couldn't do anything against them.
I just hope Garrett can get the bucs into man to man coverage if the line can block. Barber can't guard anybody man to man and never has. Not to take anything away from him because he can probably be considered one of the best zone coverage CBs. He just can't be left on an island.
Its funny too. You guys should be talking trash while you have the chance. The Cowboys are in a similar spot the Giants were last year.

Brad Johnson - 5 interceptions.
Earnest Graham - 2 TDs and 120 yards.

I guess being right makes one dumber eh DR? I love the way you just throw hypotheticals out there like they are fact or something. The NFC Central? How is that relevant in any way shape or form; who cares and considering that we've beaten two teams in that division already this year you really look like a moron for making that statement. Nothing new. Your discourse makes no sense at all really, just senseless grasping of inanimate objects. Since 2002 eh? Oh, you mean the year we won the Superbowl, oh yeah right; that's brilliant. We still won the division twice since then and we have a great shot again this year. Keep trying DR, one day you'll be able to go outside and play with the big boys. It behooves me how stupid you really are. Oh well, the world needs ditch diggers too. Enjoy the thorough @ss kicking that our Bucs are going to put on your Cowgirls tomorrow. Make sure you and Brandon bring me my pizza early before the game. I know it's a long bike ride, so get up early. I'm just saying...
Posted by: Kurt | October 25, 2008 at 11:26 AM
DR, If I remember correctly Garcia did beat Romo. When he was with the Eagles they spanked the Cowboys in December. T.O came in his Santa Claus hat for the post-game interview and his big lips were pouting and had to admit, "Uhhh, Jeff's a gritty guy and I'm not surprised he won, I played with him in San Francisco."
I have that game on DVD.
Posted by: The LastWalshPick | October 25, 2008 at 01:37 PM
"The Cowboys are in a similar spot as were the Giants last year." Yeah, except the Giants weren't in self-destruct mode like the Cowboys are. Didn't you say Wade Phillips was a better coach than Gruden last year DR? Fumbling, bumbling idiot; the both of you.
Posted by: Joe | October 25, 2008 at 02:54 PM
Kurt, again ignores the facts. Gruden has won two division championships and what did he do with them? He put out embarrassing offensive performances.
You can't understand a simple statement. Dungy had to compete against 4 other teams when he was the coach of the Bucs and they were competitve teams year in and year out. Gruden has benefited from competing in a weak division, from injuries and changes, I mean, c'mon, he had to play against Vinny Testaverde, David Carr, Byron Leftwich, Chris Redman in 4 division games. Kiffen slept all week preparing for those clowns.
If you are a Bucs fan, you should really refer to this team as kiffen's team. Kiffen is the only reason this team has had any success in the past 10 years. Someone brought up a stat about being undefeated when the Bucs commit no turnovers. Well, dah. Kiffen's defense frequently puts the offense in good field position, even scores points for the weak offense. Kiffen's defense frequently makes huge stops to compensate for the weak offense. If Kiffen's defense was just average this year, the Bucs would be 2-5. Not many teams can overcome 7 turnovers in 2 games like Kiffen's team. You could hire any offensive coordinator off the street and they would be 5-2 this year with Kiffens's defense. The loss to Denver and New Orleans is strictly on the offensive's shoulders.
