Cadillac to return to practice Wednesday
Cadillac Williams will practice with the Bucs Wednesday for the first time since suffering a torn patellar tendon in his right knee 13 months ago.
Williams is on the Physically Unable to Perform list. He will have up to three weeks to prepare to play before the team has to decide whether to activate him or place him on Injured Reserve.
"All indications are that the Cadillac is ready to come out of the garage and take some runs,'' coach Jon Gruden said Monday during his radio show.
"I think this guy has a chance to be ready to go quickly. Boy, he could give us a lift.''
Running back Warrick Dunn is questionable for Sunday's game at Dallas with a pinched nerve in neck, Gruden said.

I am no Gruden lover, but there is one stat that might indicate he is a better coach than most Gruden haters think.
Gruden is 19-0 when the Bucs do not turn the ball over.
That would indicate that if we don't cough it up, Gruden's plan works.
I cannot believe I said that!

Greg, I feel dirty just reading that. I'm going to go cry in the shower.

Hardhat0038,
Thank you! I read this blog and can't believe what some people think.I wonder how much Jerry Jones would pay to have Gruden coaching his whiners right now? Of course coach Owens would be the first to go.

Yeah, Gruden takes care of business. What would he do, pay Owens to sit out the rest of the season? Thats really a manly way of dealing with issues. Pay a guy so you don't have to deal with him. Basically, Gruden admitted that Keyshawn had a legit argument against him and paid him to stay out of his hair.

Dr, how are you STILL talking crap about Gruden? You are really diggin now dude. Just let it go, you are wrong! You have enough problems with your Cowboys!

I recall DR saying last year that the Bucs would not do anything this year and that Gruden would get fired. How is that looking now?

People, we all know what is going to happen here. Everyone is going to talk crap about Cadillac until he starts ballin then they'll jump back on his bandwagon just like they did for Jeff Garcia this year and just like they did for Jon Gruden in the 2002 season and probably when he wins another superbowl(maybe this year). So im not even worried about it.

The season isn't over yet so beware crowning Gruden as coach of the year. Really, Kiffen's team is winning games for the Bucs. The defense made huge stops against the bears and packers after 7 turnovers. They put the lock down on the Panthers. There has been little to no pressure on the Bucs offense. The offense failed to get it done against the weak Saints defense and even worse, couldn't do anything against the horrible Denver defense. The defense limited the Broncos to 16 points. They did the job and the offense lost the game.
If the offense was better, especially the play calling, the Bucs could be 7-0. It will be interesting to see how Gruden's love affair with Caddy plays out.

bucs need to keep caddy on the roster period

I agree Jeff, they need him. Other than Dunn, I am sorry Earnest is a good back but he is not a threat to break when he touches the ball...

Warrick Dunn is playing the role that should be expected from Caddy next year and beyond when he is fully recovered.
He was not an every down back in college and we should not expect him to be one in the NFL.
There is no substitue for repetitions in football and they are getting Caddy 3 weeks of practice now as early prep work for next season.
And by next year, he will be less hesitant hitting the holes because he will be running behind a much better OLine than when he was hurt.
He will play an important role in the future and remember, his shoes and gloves are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame for his performance at the start of his career, so he does have first round talent that will mesh well with Graham.

When Caddy was drafted and set records as a rookie everyone said oh yeah what a great pick. Now a few years down the road trade him? Are you serious? Caddy was running decently with absolutely no O-Line. I played on the opposite side line of this guy in high school. Trust me this guy is for real. Now with one of the best lines the BUCS have ever had, look out. This team will and could use Caddy in 3-4 weeks. Don't rush him; we can use him down the stretch. Oh and by the way all you Caddy haters, he will shut you up before the season is over. Go Caddy Go. 4 Backs with 1,000 yard seasons behind them or in front of them. The Bucs are going to be nasty the rest of the season. Now Gruden is getting away from just passing and getting all his backs some work. This is how Gruden will do it the rest of the season. Run First pass when appropriate and make sound plays on Offense and don't turn the ball over. D is always good so I will make a prediction like I made at the beginning of the season. 13-3. with the schedule the rest of the way they could do it. The BUCS are for real and I think the media is beginning to see it too. GO BUCS and Oh YEAH FIRE the CANNONS!!

ahhhh Voc, got a question for you, who leads the leahue in 40+ yard run plays?
Answer: Earnest Graham
Follow up question: Why does he not get the ball as much as he should?
Thats a rhetorical question.
Posted by: DR | October 22, 2008 at 02:02 PM
Shhh DR, we're not long on facts here.
Posted by: aj | October 22, 2008 at 02:51 PM
DR,
When Earnest touches the ball are you saying to yourself is he breaking on this run??? Be real when you answer that question. Earnest is a grinder and that is that. There is nothing wrong with that... He is not a threat each time he touches the ball..

cadillac could be one of the best rbs in the league with the line the bucs have now. last year EG averaged 4.0 yards per carry. now this year 5.6! mostly because of the great blocking. now cadillac is way faster, more elusive and fights harder than EG for his yards. if the bucs line keep it up when caddy comes back he could average between 5.5 and 6 yards a carry. watch n see.

TJ, you're basing that on the performance of a guy a year and a half ago who didn't have major reconstructive surgery on his knee. I might not argue with you if we were to compare old Caddy to current EG, but we don't have that luxury. Current Caddy and current EG - the winner is clearly not Caddy. Sorry man, I'm not trying to be a Caddy hater, it's just that he's not the same guy as back then.
