Garcia to start against Seattle

Even if Brian Griese's injured elbow heals over the next several days, it appears Jeff Garcia will quarterback the Bucs for a second consecutive week next Sunday.

Coach Jon Gruden made that much clear during his postgame press conference a little while ago.

Garcia helped lead the Bucs to a 27-3 NFC South decision over the Panthers. He finished 15 of 20 for 173 yards and a touchdown and no interceptions (117.3 QB rating).

Why did McCown have 1 rush for -1 yards?

Garcia has the hot hand. This decision is a no-brainer. Hopefully Griese will mend quickly and be ready if need be.

Stephen,

I usually appreciate your insights....but this one was a no brainer.

John, I'm just passing along what the man said. I agree it was elementary, but you never know around here.

"but you never know around here"...you got that right, Stephen.

05:09 - McCown has 1 rush for -1 yard because he took the kneel-down on the game's final play.

Very happy with my Bucs today and with Garcia leading the team. Much more comfortable with him in there, though Griese is still a great back-up. And, how about the extremely unselfish play by Mr. Graham today? Filled in well at FB when he could've maybe run for 200 had Storer not gone down.

We should all thank Chump Baily for knocking out Greise before this big game.JEFF PLAYED GREAT!

Definitely a no-brainer here. did anyone else notice that the bucs looked like they're ready to win another NFC South Title this year or is it just me?

Oh and another thing, GREAT CALL BY GRUDEN TO SIT GARCIA DOWN UNTIL HE GOT HEALTHY! Jay and all of you other Gruden haters can take that and stick it down your throat!

nice, Shane!

Stephen, you do your job to the surpassing degree! -THANK YOU FROM ALL THE BUC FANS!

What is this February already? Did the Bucs just win the Super Bowl? Please, it is quite early to be gloating, "I told you so"! I just love all this hater stuff, no wait, I mean, I just hate being called a hater! I'm so confused, help me Obi Won you're my only hope!

Still need a pass rush to take this thing to the next level. We're going to mow down Seattle. So that's 5-2, and we should win our final four home games.

Hey, Stephen. This site has some good stuff every day, www.JoeBucsFan.com , Who are these guys?

The Bucs looked great today. Garcia looked like the leader he was last year and of course, Monte's defense played to his teachings with no mistakes. This decision shouldn't even have been thought of. Griese who? Zero turnovers by the QB, it's quite obvious we're not talking about Griese.
Be happy and weary. The Matt Ryan lead Falcons are looking better and better every week. Who was that guy that QB'd before Ryan? Can't remember his name.
Will the curse continue for the sixth straight season?

GREAT WIN BY BUCS GARCIA LOOKED GREAT ...It would be nise if the bucs could swing a deal for roy willaims him and garcia would be great

garcia is one hot dude! i'd snap it to him all night long!

garcia
, i'd love to have him take the snap from me and shove his "manmeat" up my tight end!

If i was gruden i woulda said griese is a game time decision just to throw off seattle. then they dont know who to prepare for.

Josh Johnson, Josh Johnson, Josh Johnson.

Alright, Garcia did a good job - he deserves credit. In fact, there were a couple of seam routes where he hit Gilmore and Stevens in stride that were beautiful.

But as a duely appointed hater (thanks Shane), it's my job to rain on the parade. Garcia is not the long term answer at QB. Looking at the roster, I can't say that McCown or Johnson inspire me enough to say that they should have the reins handed over in the next two seasons. Garcia plays reckless, and while that's great, it means getting hurt, and that leads to instability at the QB position. He's not a franchise guy, and Gruden hasn't shown us that he can groom average to good talent into anything great. To me, that means there will be a parade of castoff QB's over Gruden's tenor, and we'll be having this same discussion every season. Now, if that means a SuperBowl win, I'll gladly eat my words. But I doubt that will happen.

Thats "tenure", Jay.

Stupid spellchecker. That's what I put in the first time. Apparently Microsoft Word thinks Gruden is one hell of an opera singer too.

DR....how bout them cowboys?

Jay, All QBs are subject to injury; even those with better offensive lines, ie. Tom Brady, Tony Romo. I don't think Garcia takes unnecessary risks. He has no choice. If the protection caves, he still has to make something happen. He was a lot more durable last year behind that sieve, than I expected. This year the line seems to be much improved as long as they can keep the penalties down. I was surprised by the overall team performance. I thought they would get thumped.

OH NO!!!! I broke my Romo Doll!!!

HOW `BOUT THEM COWBOYS!HEH HEH HEH ...DR you sure are quiet today!
