Hilliard hospitalized with concussion

Coach Jon Gruden confirms what seemed likely: WR Ike Hilliard suffered a concussion when he absorbed a violent hit from Seahawks LB Leroy Hill in the second quarter.

Gruden said Hilliard would remain in the hospital for the night but is ultimately expected to be fine.

Hilliard appeared to lose consciousness immediately after the hit, according to teammates.

"You could see he was going out on the way down," QB Jeff Garcia said. "You never want to see that."

Said Gruden: "Obviously, we're very concerned about him, but all the preliminary reports are he's going to be okay."

Tonight was a great night for Tampa Bay's teams, but it makes it even better as all of us are relieved to know that Ike will be better.

I wish Ike and the Hilliard family nothing but the best!

Jay

Typo on the Gruden quote, dude.

This was just like Boldin's hit. I think a massive fine and a suspension is in line. The fact that the warnings from the league were already sent publicly to Eric Smith should justify an even larger penalty in my opinion. Refs need to call that foul!!! A team shouldn't benefit from a dirty and obviously illegal play. Hill is a piece of crap, watching him walk over Hilliard when he was unconscious and slightly bumping his hand really pissed me off!!!
When an illegal play causes serious harm, the player should be ejected.

All I konw is that hill should get a big fine for that helmet to helmet hit!
Other than that great game...GO BUCS

After Hilliard was injured I notice other players hitting our guy with their helmet. Is this not illegal and if it is why do the ref's not call it and fine the player that is doing that, a fine and maybe ejection from the game would be in order.
