June, Trueblood fined by NFL
Personal fouls on Cato June and Jeremy Trueblood last week at Dallas will cost more than penalty yardage.
Trueblood was fined $7,500 for throwing his helmet after the Bucs final play and June was fined $5,000 for throwing a punch at Cowboys offensive lineman Marc Columbo.
Both players were penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct for those infractions during the game.
It's the seventh time Trueblood has been fined during his three-year career and at least the second time this season. He was fined $5,000 for punching Bears defensive tackle Adewale Ogunleye during an altercation in overtime but wasn't penalized on the play.

From my vantage point which was hi def on a 50 inch screen June never threw a punch. He simulated a punch which is a far cry from actually throwing a punch. It was the Cowboys though. They probably should have suspended and banished him from the game forever for throwing an almost punch at a Dallas Cowboy. I'm surprised that Barrett Rudd wasn't suspended for life for breaking baby Wittens rib. Why wasn't Columbo fined? He started it. Oh, that;s right he plays for Dallas. I almost forgot. The league will get big D to the super bowl one way or another.

Absolutely unbelievable. June's incident shouldn't even have been a penalty, let alone a fine.

If someone was trying to choke me... I'd punch him too!
June getting penalized is like a man going to jail for defending himself against an attacker.
I say that ref should get penalized for those 3 bogus first down penalties (after Ronde's horse collar) in the last 40 sec of the 2nd quarter that essentially gave the Cowboys the game. Instead the Bucs, and now June, have to pay for his error. tsk, tsk, tsk.
What about that Cowboy player that took his helmet off at the same time Trueblood did?

Pure Crap

the nfl front office is full of crap and the bucs should appeal the fine on june and send tape in showing that june was being choked by that offensive linemen. But then again like everyone else has said Dallas is the league's soap opera(how long will T.O and Roy E. Williams be able to co-exist? is the new story line) and they boost the ratings so I guess they can get away with murder(or attempted).

What did the Queen of Hearts say in Alice in the Looking Glass. Off with their heads!!!
The officiating is terrible. It's starting to parallel the WWF officiating.
Take notice NFL refs, you SUCK and the fans see it and know it!!!
Look at the NBA ref that was betting on the games he officiated.
We need an NFL inquisition, just like the Spanish inquisiton. The right amount of torture and the REF's will confess to anything we want them too.

Not sure who posted the last comment. But whoever you are go get them. Well stated, maybe they are betting on the games or taking payoffs.

Sounds like another conspiracy theory. Call it in and tell the Coast to Coast listeners how the NFL front office is subjecting the officials to mind control experiments. The evidence is out there... What official would be willing in his right mind to make himself look like an @$$ on national television with millions of viewers watching?

the new comish is getting off on his power ?

Yet you can sandwich helmet hit a Tampa Bay WR w/ impunity....& BTW, Galloway got horsecollared by the Boys mid 3rd Q & a flag wasnt thrown.

You know the league handcuffs the team by not being able to criticize the officiating without the penalty of being fined. The fans see it and know it and yes they GAVE the cowboys the touchdown at the end of the half. A game we would have won without the freebie. Heavens forbid that the darlings of the NFL should lose and not make the playoffs. Disgusting.

Need to remember that TV ratings won't be as good for all those TV sponsors and those billion dollar deals with the networks won't be worth a crap if the darlings aren't winning. Bunch of bull-hocky those penalties that got Dallas within range of a short touchdown pass. They obviously were not going to get close any other way!!

EXACTLY, it's not only the NBA, this has got to stop! There SHOULD be some investigation into it. Oh and as far as them not wanting to look bad in front of milions, they'll laugh all the way to the bank...come on!

Mike J. you mean no one was fined on that hit to Ike? That would be b.s. if it is true.
As for the NFL, when Hines Ward is getting fined almost weekly for blocks, I have to fully agree with Troy Polamalu: We're (NFL) all pansies

Yeah....if it wasn't for the refs, the bucs would have easily scored 27 points instead of 9....

You guys are all idiots. A player throws a punch and he shouldn't get a penalty. Yeah, thats not a biased statement, especially after the fact that the same thing happened to the Bears against the Bucs but you guys liked that call even though it was BS. You guys supported Trueblood for instigating that call even though Trueblood deserved a penalty.
Ignore the fact that Gruden can't call a game. Tampa wasn't going to score 27 points if the game lasted 36 quarters.

We might sound like homers here, but that was ridiculous. I was screaming at my tv after the June call. Don't know about you, but I think I'd try to defend myself against a guy that outweighs me by 80 pounds (who actually started it). This is getting out of hand all around the league....maybe not in Dallas though. They should change the name to the No Emotion League.

Anyone know why DR wastes our time on here?
Posted by: Erick | November 01, 2008 at 01:20 PM
unfortunately, rules are rules. Everybody knows when you "defend" or some would say "retaliate" you always get caught.Doesnt matter who started it.As a player you have to keep your head, especially when youre standing in the middle of the field with every ref in plain view. Please stop blaming the refs for losing. Had we played like we are capable of we would have dominated. The refs didnt stop us from converting several 3rd and shorts, the Dallas defense did. They played inspired football on defense. Oh and DR- we averaged a field goal a quarter in that game so if we played 36 quarters we would have had a 108 points...lol...but Dallas would have had 120...sometimes you gotta laugh at things or this game would make you crazy. Bucs for life!!!

What I would like to know is where does the money for the fines go? I would hope it goes into a fund for football disabilities for the players or something. If it just goes into the pockets of the NFL, it might explain why players and teams are being fined so much...like the NFL needs more money...haha

June did not throw a punch. He stopped halfway into it. I repeat there was no punch thrown. None, Zip, Nadda. No punch should equal no penalty and no fine. He thought better about it and stopped. Next time he should knock the hell out of Columbo and get his moneys worth. That's the message the league sends when they protect the media darlings.
Posted by: jobucs | November 01, 2008 at 03:05 PM
calls were driving me nuts as well, we lost all momentum...but 4 penalties in less than 2 minutes before the half(on more than half the plays in the sequence) should make you consider the lack of poise our team has at crunch time. Cato says proudly he won't be "punked" and would do it again? Even though it may have cost us the game? Trueblood is clueless. Does it all the time. Chicago game we were lucky he wasn't called on similar after the play nonsense, which could have cost us that game. Where is the accountability? No discipline, and if you don't think the rest of the league sees this you aren't paying attention. They are baiting us. This needs to change or it will kill us down the stretch. Team first boys.

Call it equally across the league and I have no problem. They don't!!! Watch other games. It all depends on the team, their standings, where their playing and popularity. We do not have a home field advantage like other teams do for some reason. If we did I wouldn't say a word. If you get a few calls because your the home team then be fair about it. A lot of times high profile teams come to Ray J and get the benefit of almost every call. Watch the pre game show on Fox tomorrow and see how many times the Bucs or other small market teams are mentioned. Very little, But listen to how many times the media darlings are mentioned. Over and over and over. The Cowboys were not called for one offensive holding penalty. I didn't know any team was that good. We will however get back on the winning track in a big way tomorrow though. Not many will notice however because the darlings of the nfl will be playing each other. Watch that game and see how the league lets them play. I'm talking about Giants- Cowboys. It will be evenly called because of the profile of both teams. If anything the boys might get abreak or two to tighten the division up. Remember there is one way to control the outcome of every football game played and it is simply to let one offensive line hold and call holding on the other team.

the umpires and refs have been absolutely horrible against both the bucs and rays!
Posted by: Mark | November 01, 2008 at 06:49 PM
it could be worse, we could be Pittsburgh and hines Ward.
Poor guy throws devastating blocks, and even though there are no flags thrown, he gets fined.
The NFL is becoming a joke.
The NHL is headed that way.
Thank the MMA for some good ol fashioned violence!!

ps- some of you need to get off of Trueblood.
EVERY dominant offensive line needs a guy or two like Trueblood.

These fines were a joke! It was clear to anyone who watched that game, the Refs were in the pocket for the Cowboys! They tried again this week against the Giants, but it did not work because the Giants scored points, which meant the refs could not affect the game like they did against the Bucs...
