And Carolina just won....

So close. The disappointment is in the fact this was a winnable game. Just like the other 2 losses. Being 5-3 at the halfway point is still credible. An extra winning game or 2 added to the second half record should be enough to make the playoffs. Overall a decent record so far.

I'm not a Gruden hater at all, but he screwed up today...BIG TIME!
Our offensive was pathetic, with their depleted secondary and we can't even score 13. This one is on the coach.
Posted by: Arun | October 26, 2008 at 04:12 PM
Lost this game for 2 reasons one is the ridiculous call on cato june when he's being grabbed by the throat for 30 seconds in front of 3 refs but gets flagged on the half assed swing at columbo! Garcia was pathetic in the 2nd half..happy feet and you can't win kicking field goals!
Posted by: Tom B | October 26, 2008 at 04:12 PM
Arun, you are a Gruden hater. Garcia was too busy feeling uncomfortable in the pocket to go downfield. This was week one Garcia again not Gruden play calling
Posted by: Tom B | October 26, 2008 at 04:15 PM
Face reality Tampa Bay. This Bucs team is simply Pitiful!!! They continue to prove that they're the most inconsistent team in the NFL. The so called "west coast" offense that Gruden supposedly masters is incapable of achieving big chucks of yardage when it's needed. The Bucs could have taken 5 or 6 attempts at the endzone, but instead chose to take the 2 and 3 yard dink and dunks. All that does is eat up the clock. When you need a TD, this offensive scheme just doesn't work. We couldn't have asked for a better opportunity in facing a team with a washed up backup QB, but let is slip right through our fingers. Shame on you Gruden!!

I'm not one to comment on officials and blame the game on them, but the series of penalties called on Tampa before the half was one of the most embarrassing things I've seen in a while from NFL officials. They single handedly gave them 7 points on that drive and that was the difference in the game. Both defenses played well and the difference came down to the series of penalties that made me want to turn of the game. Cato June's helmet is almost ripped off his face and he pushes the guy off him and he gets the penalty, are you kidding me. Ridiculous, I know Dallas is America's team but come on, don't just hand them the game when players work all week to try to win a game and it is just handed to the team everyone wants to see win. We will bounce back next week, Go Bucs.
Posted by: DBucs Fan | October 26, 2008 at 04:17 PM
Last post why no penalty on last offensive play on dallas linebacker who took his helmet off after the play? Thats a 15 yd penalty and 1st down instead they call trueblood but no comment from the fair and impartial Moose in the booth! Who also at one point said "we" have to tackle better in reference to Dallas defense.JOKE
Posted by: Tom B | October 26, 2008 at 04:18 PM
I was intimidated as usual. My team is a reflection of me, little guy who is intimidated against the big boys.
Posted by: Jon Guruden | October 26, 2008 at 04:18 PM
wathing the bucs offense is as exititng as watching the grass grow
Posted by: | October 26, 2008 at 04:18 PM
I would love to see how many teams win when they convert their first three scoring attempts as FGs. I bet it is less than 25%. Secondly, our OL gets a lot of love, but quite honestly cannot get tough yards when necessary. We bust a few long runs, but when we need 3 or 4 tough yards, or a even inches, we get stuffed. We will be fine, but this game shows we are not an elite team, not even close. Very dissapointing....no turnovers today?
Posted by: jersey buc | October 26, 2008 at 04:24 PM
the o-line did a great job did it occur to you dallas has a talented d with the reining defensive player of the year?
Posted by: conradbuff | October 26, 2008 at 04:24 PM
Gruden has got to be the worst play caller and coach in the league!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Rick | October 26, 2008 at 04:24 PM
our offense is a joke...plain and simple. too bad the defense couldn't get a touchdown for us this week to win the game....
Posted by: ryan | October 26, 2008 at 04:24 PM
why u guys bashin gruden? he called the plays to win garcia would not take a chance in the endzone and chose dumpoffs
Posted by: conradbuff | October 26, 2008 at 04:26 PM
I agree with Arun. This was all on Gruden. He abandons the run way too soon. Dallas baited the Bucs to throw the ball and Gruden took the bait. Gruden made his team one dimensional so Dallas only had to defend the pass. The strength of our offensive is running the ball so why abandon the run in a close game?
Posted by: Dee | October 26, 2008 at 04:29 PM
Jeff is a reflection of me, he is a little guy who got intimidated, nothing more to say. Trueblood is a girl, and throws tantrums just like me. I love me some me, how bout you toofless?
Posted by: Jon Guruden | October 26, 2008 at 04:31 PM
very confused bucs didnt stop running till there was 4 mins left in last quarter and they were down by 4 if thats too soon to abandon run in your opionion i agree but i believe any team in that situation has to score to win and they needed 70 yards to do so
Posted by: conradbuff | October 26, 2008 at 04:32 PM
The officiating was absolutely pathetic, all four calls at the end of the 2nd quarter were judgment calls that just happened to go the Cowboys way. PATHETIC. Graham was wide open on the last play for an easy 1st down, but Garcia could not see him. I just find it amazing that each judgment call, including the last one on Trueblood (which was a dead ball foul so it would not have changed the outcome), all went against the Bucs.
Posted by: RJ | October 26, 2008 at 04:35 PM
classic case of jerry jones cowboys riding zebras to victory
Posted by: jbl | October 26, 2008 at 04:36 PM
They never challenged that secondary with any throws to the end zone when they got inside the red zone..settling for field goals is death in this league.
Posted by: Duane | October 26, 2008 at 04:37 PM
i agree i dont like games that are decided by refs i dont disagree with any of the calls they were penalties but many games are played were worse penaltys are not called but yes its not really fair when an officials choice decides a game i give sympathy to sd with the non fumble call
Posted by: conradbuff | October 26, 2008 at 04:38 PM
I was just curious has anyone got stats on how inept we are after we call timeout. We sure did not attack Dallas's corners. No touchdowns against a weak Dallas defense is a problem.
Posted by: Al | October 26, 2008 at 04:38 PM
Bucs had nearly 300 yards of offense AGAIN...
it was the RED ZONE/inside the 25 offense that waas terrible... and you can lay that square on the shoulders of Jeff Garcia.
Today's game was a disappointment but alas, we can stop all the "elite football team" talk here in Tampa Bay. Look what we did against the Cowboys who if they had thier Romeo, would've dropped atleast 24 points on the board. Our offense has to be ashamed of themselves. Especially Jeff Garcia, where the hell was his downfield vision? He was too conservative. make the damn play already.
Btw, there's only one "elite team" in this town and it ain't the Bucs. It's the Rays.
The Bolts are trash, the Bucs are good but not great and the Rays are an "elite team".
Atleast we have one.
Go Rays!!!
Posted by: James | October 26, 2008 at 04:39 PM
I agree with Jersey Buc we are not an elite team obviously, sit Garcia, never plants his feet to through a long ball everything dink and dunk. Put Luke in and go as far as the Defense take us

that game was paid off the drive before halftime. The refs gave dallas every yard exet one
Posted by: john | October 26, 2008 at 04:41 PM
it would be interesting to see what luke mcnown can do but id say theres a 5% chance of him playing gruden would put greise back in first and if garcia and griese get hurt he probably hands the team to josh johnson just to see what hes got
Posted by: conradbuff | October 26, 2008 at 04:43 PM
You guys blaming the refs are idiots.
EVERY freaking penalty the refs called on the Bucs was legit.
Ronde committed that horse-collar penalty. No doubt about it.
Buchanon hit Roy Williams early on that 5 yard PI call.
Aqib Talib illegaly pushed TO toward the sideline after 5 yards for the Illagl contact penalty.
And Cato June took a freaking swing at that offensive lineman. Remember the Bears game, it's always the guy who retaliates. Blame June.
Quit freaking whining you bunch of sissy's and grow a pair.
Posted by: James | October 26, 2008 at 04:45 PM
Bad execution / play calling on offense combined with bad officiating and we we still had a chance to win the game right through the last play. Just one of those games that every team in the NFL has had or will have. Time to dust off the bad performance and get ready for KC next week. I can't believe how fickle most of you are. Win and everything is great and lose and the world is over. GO BUCS!!
Posted by: Mark | October 26, 2008 at 04:48 PM
I would love to see the Bucs get rid of J.Trueblood.He is always getting penaltities for our team due to his temper. The helment throwing was uncalled for. I hope they hit him in the pocket bigtime. That behavior is not good for our children. My son played football from t-ball until 12th grade and acted better then him.I would never ask him for his autograph. For the rest of the team GO BUCS!
Posted by: Denise | October 26, 2008 at 04:53 PM
I'd like to know what the Bucs record is when they face a former QB. It cant be good.
Posted by: James | October 26, 2008 at 04:53 PM
no superbowl this year
Posted by: reality | October 26, 2008 at 04:53 PM
The Bucs rushed 18 times against the Cowbows. The last couple of wins they had rushed 30+. Garcia threw the ball 44 times. I like Garcia but it was obvious he was having problems making decisions in the passing game. A committment to the run could've helped Garcia in th passing game. If you're going to lose, why not lose doing what you do best?

Have any of you ever heard of an "Audible", you know, the options given to Garcia, this was his loss. Go home haters.
Posted by: Tony | October 26, 2008 at 04:54 PM
And why did Cato June take a freaking swing at that offensive lineman?
Because The freaking lineman had him by the face mask/neck.
Cheap calls all day.
Posted by: CTJ | October 26, 2008 at 04:57 PM
the best nfl o-linemen play mean and nasty and emotional which is what trueblood is and does if you want pansies playin o-line lookup kenyatta walker
Posted by: conradbuff | October 26, 2008 at 04:57 PM
Our offense is HORRIBLE...Gruden's play calling is very PREDICTABLE...NFL refs are BIASED...and that is why we cannot win against big boys unless we change the way we play offense and/or change our play caller (cant do anything about biased refs).
Posted by: ujwal | October 26, 2008 at 04:59 PM
Why--oh why--did garcia never try a rollout--especially on the last drive. I thought one of his strengths was his mobility---where was that today?
Also, the Dallas D' was hard charging straight up the field because apparently the Bucs do not have a screen or draw in their playbook to slow down a pass rush --which every other NFl team seems to have???
Why abandon the run in the 2d half--we were getting 4+ yards a run. That is chain moving winning football Gruden??
However, the biggest bulls__ _ _ was those penalty calls at the end of the half. I said it last week--look it up--we will lose if the refs make bad caklls and hand the Cowboys the game. The refs gave them their only touchdown. Give me a freakin break--how can the refs not call at least both Columbo and June for offsetting when Columbo has June's throat in his and and he is knocking his hand away--pathetic!!
Posted by: Brian | October 26, 2008 at 04:59 PM
Another loss on Gruden. With a depleted, sorry excuse for a secondary, you can't throw two yard passes where the defensive backfield have help from everyone else and their grandma. Yet again the Bucs fail to take advantage of a subpar defense, but then again, what else is new. If the offense would be anything close to as good as the defense, there would have been Superbowls a plenty. As it stands with Gruden, we're at a standstill.

I called it last week that it would go this way. We always have to beat the refs. Americas team. Think about it.
Posted by: jobucs | October 26, 2008 at 05:04 PM
Its amazing how fast they fall off the wagon when things get a little tough. 1st of all Dallas's defensive line played better than expected and did not allow alot of time for plays to develope. Secondly, the refs penalty calls at the end of the half gave the Cowboys points and thats demoralizing when you have to play the refs as well. Lastly, there were not alot of teams that were going to go into Dallas and just pound them as that is a tough place to play. We are still 5 and 3 and as long we keep ahead of divisional wins we will be alright. Even after all the crap we still had a chance to win the game. The Cowboys played alot of zone and our offensive line did a poor job at point of contact and got manhandled. This was a total team loss and the fumble on special teams didnt help either. Cant win them all and this is still a great start to the 1st half of the season. Blame Gruden, Garcia, or whoever. But both teams get paid to play. Now if we dont crush the Chiefs next week it might be time to worry. GO BUCS!!

Wow - blaming the refs? For what.. a blatant horse collar? A weak LB throwing a punch? You lost to a team missing their top 3 CBs, a starting safety, their pro bowl QB and TE. But it's the ref's fault? Those are excuses LOSERS make.

Refs in this game were a joke but you have to score points in spite of the refs. Three drives that go into the Dallas red zone that get converted to field goals does not help you win this game should have been 21-13 or even 17-13 bucs over dallas.
Posted by: shane | October 26, 2008 at 05:10 PM
I can't believe what I'm reading on here from most of you people. This was all about officiating, nothing more. Same thing week after week with Dallas only this time they just happened to get lucky with a convenient W next to their name. They can not win without the officials in their back pocket and anyone with a brain knows this. If this is what it takes for them to win their games, then more power to Jerry Jones and his officials.
