Cadillac to be inactive Sunday
RB Cadillac Williams is back on the active roster, but he'll almost certainly be inactive against the Vikings on Sunday.
That's the word from coach Jon Gruden, who just conducted the team's final practice of the week at One Buc Place.
"I don't foresee (Williams) being a part of this game," Gruden said. "We'll see how the next 48 hours unfold. We seem to have had some injuries in the backfield. If everything goes as planned, I don't see him being active."
Williams was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform List on Wednesday after spending 14 months rehabbing a severe right knee injury. But Earnest Graham (knee) looked good for the second straight day today and Warrick Dunn (back) appears to be progressing nicely, so there doesn't seem to be a need to rush Williams into action this week.
Williams is okay with that.
"I knew coming in that my chance of playing wasn't too likely," he said. "It's not a big surprise."

Probably a good idea. Give him some more time to practice with the first team.

Wait, what are all the naysayers going to think about this?

Good move. Don't rush him back like Miami did with Ricky Williams last year. You'll recall Ricky was injured on his first play and out for the rest of the season. 1 and done. You need to be in serious football shape to take NFL hits.

Cutting the Michael Bennett make much sense...NOT!

Jon Gruden's Alterego, that's a ridiculous comparison. did you see the play Ricky got hurt on? no amount of conditioning would have stopped that injury from happening.

I don't understand the comment, "we seem to have had some injuries in the backfield..I don't see him playing." Was Williams re-injured in practice? Was someone else injured?

You use Caddy this week, Gruden! You stupid like Iron Sheik. Him too no no what is going on. He drink all my vodka tonight and body slam me tonight. We should be all right for the Caddy to finish with his tune up. Hes a good back, but even in full health has never had the durability to be an every down back. You got to give the man alot of credit though. Just not making the IR list for the rest of this season is an incredible achievement. Hes come a long way and I am sure he still has a way to go before he is 90% of what he was before the injury.
As for the rest of you mental "migget"s on this thread... We still have a great back field without Michael Bennet. Graham had an unbelievable season last year and if you remember he played most of it hurt. Dunn is long term veteran in a position that most guys can't last more then 4 or 5 years. You think that he hasn't gone out and played (well) when he has been hurt in the past? Smith showed us last week that he is the real deal.
I would pit those 3 backs against most any other team in the league who are dealing with their own injuries this late in the season.
