As you asked: Comment registration

In response to your concerns about inappropriate comments and impersonators on this blog, tampabay.com is now implementing comment registration. In order to leave a comment, you will need to first register for a TypeKey account.

This is a way to authenticate and protect your online identity. Once you've registered, your name appears as a hyperlink to your profile. It is free, and you can share as much or as little personal information as you like. That way, readers will be able to tell which posts are from you and which are not. Many of you have registered for this service already, recognizing its benefits to you.

Once you've registered, your account works on all of tampabay.com's blogs, as well as other typepad blogs. Here's some more information on TypeKey, should you have any questions.

I hope it helps! It's one thing to speak your mind, but it's another to show your...

Philipj

I'm very pleased to have this process, for all the reasons stated.

Jay

Thank god. I hope the FireGruden / BenchBarber guy doesn't register.

Halim

Lets go Bucs!!!

Tony

It's about time, really. Though I will miss some of the random DR, Al Gore, and Jon Gruden lines.

Plus, I was here first so Tony M. gets to go back to being Tony.

King

This is a good thing. Some of these comments were getting out of hand.

Leo In Canada

Thank you for doing this. Great idea. I hope it makes a difference.

IdahoBUCfan

Obviously it didn't work, valricorick is still here. Shouldn't there be an age limit of at least 13, and shouldn't the posters at least be BUC fans?
I am PROUD of MY team, and hope we have Coach Gruden until his retirement, at age 65!!!
Good luck Caddy, thanks Dunn, GO BUCS!

Personally I think that registration will make this blog less fun and interesting. It seems to be the result of a bunch of whiners who only want to hear from people that agree with themselves. I mean we are here to discuss an often violent, rough and complex game where there is a LOT of room for differing views on what is happening. Now as the result of whiners who want cuddly discussion about a non-cuddly game, we are suppressing speech. Before, if the Times felt someone put a threatening or inappropriate post on the blog they took it off. That seemed fine with me. This seems to pander to political correctness and putty boys.

Aaron Law

i am not aaron law. but it keeps signing me in as him. go back to the old way...

Yoshi

Itch i gotta agree, this takes some of the fun out of the comments and it really doesnt make a difference because all those people can just make an account and put the same comments that all these babies were whining about any way. I prefer the old way alot better. Not only that but its just annoying having to sign in every time you leave a comment. I always enjoyed the fact that no matter how stupid the comment or vulgar or whatever, everyone can voice their opininon no matter how stupid it was. I feel like the Times is adopting the rules of the NFL with their no fun policy.

Aaron Law

i am still not aaron law. who is aaron law anyway? i have never seen this aaron law post. damn it i am not aaron law!

DR

Yeah, the no fun blog where only the people who blindly support the bucs and know nothing about football blog.

Aaron Law

Hey dr, it is me aaron, although i guess i am the artist formerly klnown as aaron. This stupid type pad thing keeps sighning me in as aaron law. i have no idea who that is
