Bucs sign DE Chukwurah and LB Wilson
Here's more proof the injuries are piling up for the Bucs.
They signed DE Patrick Chukwurah, who was picked up for the final preseason game earlier this year and promptly released. Chuckwurah appeared in nine games in 2007 and recorded 15 tackles and one sack.
The Bucs also signed linebacker Rod Wilson, who originally was a seventh-round draft choice by the Chicacgo Bears in 2005. In 28 career games, he's recorded 12 tackles and 30 special teams tackles. He was released by the Bears near the end of the preseason.
To make room for those transactions, the Bucs placed safety Jermaine Phillips on injured reserve and released running back Noah Herron.

Chukwurah was pretty good when played last year. Did anyone else hear that Haynesworth will be an unrestricted free agent after the playoffs!! How amazing would it be to get that guy here. He'd be worth every penny that he asked for to solidify that center of the line. Just imagine him next to Hovan. No one would get a yard on us!!

We have the cap room for Haynesworth. Unless he hates the Tampa area or Allen "never makes him an offer" its time to finally open the wallet and get a high priced free agent around here.

Wait a minute now thats the kind of "Tiger Woods" type free agent we were promised last year with all of our cap money. Then we got Jeff Faine and nothing else. I think Hayneworth would be a great addition but the Glasers and Allen have yet to show me they are ready to make a splash of ANY kind in free agency.

To be fair we did actually get a Tiger Woods type free agent in Antonio Bryant. Whether that was through skill or good fortune is up for debate.

Guys there actually has to be "Tiger Woods" type players available. There were none except Faine.
MattH I do agree with Bryannt comment.

Considering the signings the Bucs made & the fact they were in the sweepstakes for both Jared Allen & Brett Favre, they did the best they could under the circumstances. With the cap space being where it is, this year they will be poised again if anybody worth signing pops up. Spending just for the sake of spending is senseless. The future potentials for free agents and current veterans looks positive.

Dudes, I don't see how a Tiger Woods-type player helps that much. I mean, Tiger's great and everything, but as far as I know has never even played high school football. I don't think that even an athlete of his caliber could make the transition without years of training first.
And then, what would he play? DB? WR, maybe? The guy is small.
On the other hand, we'd kick serious butt at those NFL golf tournaments. I just don't know if that's enough to make it worth signing a golf pro, though, even if it were Tiger.

Hmmm ok Leo and OAR so when we were counting on Earnest Graham and an injured Cadillac Williams this year there was no reason to go after Michael Turner?? There is a "Tiger Woods" type for you. And if we had signed him I would bet you the house we win last week and are in the playoffs. In case you missed it Michael Turner is second in the league in rushing, going to the Pro Bowl and was signed by a team in OUR DIVISION.

You all keep forgetting that the "Tiger Woods" types don't want to come here. Because of Gruden all we can get are the players that nobody else wants. It wasn't Gruden/Allen not going after the likes of Favre or whomeever, it was the players not wanting to play for Gruden that sent them somewhere else! As long as Gruden is the coach we will be picking up the scraps! 'Nuff Said!!!

Nick, well in two weeks we will know if Atlanta is even in the playoffs, then you can tell me all about Turner.
All hail Valrico Rick, the football god, has spoken(BTW: I think you and DR are one in the same) and once again shows his true side "loyal to none".

Guys, you all seem to forget, we did have Tiger Woods here on a few occasions this year. I saw him on the side lines. I am sure that is how they will cover their butts when challenged about the "Tiger Woods" type free agents comment.

c'mon, Rick (and all you soft tampa fans)...you and jonny always bring up "injuries" this time of year...take the time to check out the injuries of elite teams like the STEELERS, COLTS, etc. who keep on winning thru injuries and thru the season. Just a really soft coach and even softer fans. Enjoy the end to your season, the next few weeks!

I gotta say im just hoping for a Player like Haynesworth. Maybe even Nnamdi Asomugha to take the pressure off barber and Buchanon. I would always go defense if there is a big name like that. Julius Peppers is also going to be a free agent if the panthers dont re-sign (which they probably will). Who knows maybe we can get the Cardinals to trade Mr. Boldin (from PALM BEACH COUNTY!!!) The only thing that is for certain is that we got money and there are some big names coming into free-agency this year. Hopefully we actually go get them.
