Galloway: There's been no blowup
WR Joey Galloway broke his silence after the game, speaking briefly about coach Jon Gruden's decision not to activate him today against Atlanta.
Galloway's role has been steadily diminishing in the Bucs offense. Monday at Carolina he didn't play at all, though he did dress. Sunday's move was a new low for the veteran.
"It's football," he said. "There's nothing to start. There's been no blowup, there's been no confrontation. I'm healthy. I don't have anything else for you."
Galloway said reporters probably knew more about his status on the team than he did, "because you guys ask. But could you guys quit asking because then you make (Gruden) take shots at me."
Asked what he was referring to, Galloway appeared to be making light of comments on Tuesday, when Gruden said the Bucs have "moved on" from Galloway.
"There were some comments in the paper," Galloway said. "It didn't bother me."

of course he's not going to talk bad about Gruden in the media, he's not that kind of person.but anyone can tell his days here are just about done.

Gruden said that the Bucs moved on because apparently Galloway is not the type of player to split snaps. I like Galloway, but that is Gruden saying that Galloway is a prima donna who did not respond well to his diminished role.
Everyone knows there is no loyalty in professional sports. The player performing best plays. Antonio Bryant is one of the best receivers in the game, so Galloway sits.

You look at Galloway's history and he has no problem sitting back picking up pay checks. He's the most overrated WR in NFL history as far as receiving hype and contracts for producing nothing. He'll only retiring after he sucks another teams cash flow. Good riddance.
The Bucs need to sign Bryant to a contract now. He is far better and a bigger threat than Galloway. He can't speak a lick of english, but he CAN play some football.

Galloway is just mad that he isnt as skilled as Bryant.

first of all there is no comparing galloway to bryant, they are two different kinds of receivers.
But we cant complain at the beginning of the year "the bucs are old at receiver, cant rely on joey galloway" and then "why are we not relying on joey galloway"??
Lets not forget Tony Dungy let go Brad Culpepper and Hardy Nickerson after the 99 season, and our D went from #3 to #9 the next year!
Face facts, if we pick up another receiver this offseason, we will be sitting pretty...for whomever our QB will be.
since 2006 when commentators said we were not even close to being able to turn it around, we have developed a solid O line, solidified our safetys and corners. Have 3 young linebackers ready to go when 55 retires, have a fullback and two good running backs, a receiver, and I kicker returner who is solid.
Now we need a serious defensive tackle, QB or Luke, a breakaway running back (maybe 22 smith).

Good heavens the football god is at it again, showering us with his all knowing(opinions) knowledge. DR Galloway in his last 3 years had 23 tds, 3358 yds, 17 yd/avg, so I ask how is that overrated?
I hate to say I agree with you, but "yes" I do on the signing of Bryant, to a multi year deal would be good.

not sure what all the negativity is about, joey's handling this with complete class. i think he knows he's not 100%, and he's smart enough to know that without every ounce of his speed he's not much more than an average wideout. if he spoke out, he'd have to back it up on the field, and i'm not convinced he's physically ready to do that.
i'm sure the hefty pay helps him sleep at night despite the lack of touches, but it bears acknowledgement that joey has been a team guy at all times in tampa and has never taken the bait from the media to contribute to ANY controversy regarding the bucs. he has to go on the radio for an hour a week, and every time it comes up he deftly maneuvers around his lack of involvement and defuses any controversy.
until bryant stays at this level for another 3 or 4 years (assuming we can ink the deal), joey galloway remains the best WR to suit up for the bucs, and his role in 2 division crowns can't be overlooked

Well said, Vince. Galloway is a class act and always has been. It's a shame the two can't be on the field at the same time but Joey is not designed to go over the middle like Bryant. He's certianly no primma donna but his history indicates he's a bit brittle.
