Rams to interview Raheem Morris? | Main | Barry will rejoin Bucs if Bradley exits ยป

Conflicting info about the Rams and Morris

Raheem Morris is a hot coaching candidate, no doubt about that.

That's why the Bucs made the 32-year-old Morris their defensive coordinator. It's also why the Denver Broncos interviewed Morris for their head coaching job Monday.

But a report on NFL.com that the Rams had asked and been granted permission to interview Morris for their head coaching job is, at best, premature.

Morris says he's still unaware if such a request has been made by the Rams. He's back in Tampa, working feverishly on filling positions on his defensive staff, starting with a linebackers coach.

Gus Bradley, who does not have a contract for next season, is in Seattle today interviewing for a position with the Seahawks, who are believed to be considering hiring him as defensive coordinator.

How can you fill positions for your staff if you don't know if you'll be here. Isn't that like recruiting college talent when it's been publicized your leaving the college coaching job?
Tough to attract talent with nebulous future.

I think it sounds like Morris has a real good feeling he will be in Tampa next year. I hope he lives up to the hype! I don't expect to be the best Defense in the NFL, but a top 10 would be a nice start for him

Morris is not going anywhere. This is filling the "Rooney Rule" quota. Let's get onto free agency already.

Stephen, any chance we can get Shane Lechler or Nnamdi Asomugha or both from the Raiders?

I agree this is all Rooney Rule, but there is no doubt Morris is creating (or just is) a buzz as a hot coaching candidate in the future. I think there is no doubt Raheem will be a head coach in 2 years ! maybe less. Where? thats the question. Im not a gruden basher, but am tired of it all. This 2009 season is put up or shut up for Jon I believe. If he goes, will the Glazers move Morris up? or will they go after a 'proven' name instead? I think Raheem is the coach everyone wants. Great with players, does the celebrations with his players, ect.
we better be wise. Cower needed a decade of patience to win a superbowl. Shannahan had 14 years with one team.
Our only success so far (so far) is getting a coach as an assistant. The retread is NOT a succesful Bucs Coaching formula, book is out on gruden.

I think affirmative action was the most ignorant law ever made for many reasons, but this Rooney Rule is good for this league. If Tomlin was a result of the Rooney Rule (which is truly hard to believ) than I think Morris has a good chance with his comparison to him. Tomlin, in my opinion, is the best coach in the league. If Morris has the same poise and demeanor as Tomlin, he will win someone over for sure. If not this year, than next year. He has a short record but it is stellar.
