Rams to interview Raheem Morris?
Things are moving pretty quickly in Raheem Morris' world right now.
The Rams have reportedly received permission to talk with Morris about their vacant head-coach position, according to NFL.com. Morris interviewed with the Broncos on Monday and is a candidate for the same post in Denver.
Morris, 32, told the Times earlier today that he was "excited" about the opportunity in Denver, so this development, if true, will only fuel the excitement. It's not clear who is the front runner for the Rams job as the club is talking to numerous candidates.
We'll update you further as we learn more specifics and when and if there will be an interview.

Morris is a popular guy these days. I hope teams are giving him a fair shot and not just completing their obligation to the rooney rule! I hope you are running our defense next year Mr. Morris and are part of pounding that rock on defense!

I hope he sticks around as well. Then if Gruden stinks it up again he can be the head coach here. (If the defense is up to its usual standards)

I just hope the Bucs are looking at possible replacements given that is in such demand and will probably stay that way until he is a head coach somewhere. And, is he really worth all the hype?

Why do I get the feeling that it seems like there are a bunch of people JUMPING SHIP??? This team is our team and if the coaches don't want to be here then let them go and let us get some better ones. I know they are out there. I firmly believe that if we can get some NEW BLOOD in the coaching staff, we could turn the corner.

Carolina, I dont think people are jumping ship. This has been happening to us for a while. We have alot of good coaches that come out of Tampa. Now that Kiffin is gone, I think we should try to hold on to what good coaches and proteges we have left. It sounds like Morris could be that new blood that we need calling the defensive shots and mixing it up a bit.

Man, if anyone thought that an assistant coach who the Bucs felt could replace the legend Monte Kiffin was gonna stay around here very long they'd be hugely mistaken.
He was gone as soon as we named him DC.
Good luck Mo.

Let's don't forget the Rooney Rule people.

'Jumping ship' is just total ignorance. Other people call it things like promotions and raises. Tampa coaches are hot in the NFL.

Is Raheem Morris worth all the hype? well there is not a big body of work, but here is what we know....
Morris left the bucs at the end of the 05 season. We had the No. 1 defense in 05. Morris didnt know that Tomlin was leaving too to be DC of Vikes, or he would have stayed to be promoted, as he was just an assistant to the secondary coach Tomlin.
Morris went to KU as their defensive coordinator and INSTANTLY improved the KU defense. Lets look at the three year progression then regression of KU's D before, during, and the year after Morris was the DC. Points allowed per game, 27.7, 22.7, 30.8. Yards allowed per game- 359,334,400.6. passing yards allowed 2536,2283,3108. Interceptions went up from 05 to 06 from 8 to ten, and sacks more than doubled, from 15 to 35! So its clear Raheem made a difference and improved KU's D, and then KU went backwards after Morris left. Here in Tampa, our 2006 defense suffered from the Loss of Tomlin and D line coach Rod Marinelli. Our D line and secondary were the worst functioning units on a once proud Bucs defense, while our linebackers were fine. Was it a coincidence that our Linebacker coach Joe Barry was still in place and not allowed to leave before his contract was up?
Our Defense slipped out of the top half of the NFL, from No. 1!
When Raheem Morris was brought back in as Secondary coach, that section of the Bucs D became succesful again. Jermaine Philips looked like a good player again with Morris' coaching. Rookie Tanard Jackson excelled too under Raheems guide.
Its Clear Raheem Morris is capable of making a difference on whatever level he coaches at. You dont need to be a DC to jump to HC.
But the ones who do, Lovie Smith, Mike Tomlin out perform the ones who dont, Herman Edwards.
