Nate Washington rumors gaining steam

UPDATE, 9:48 p.m.: We've established the Bucs are one of about five teams that are high on Washington. They are sitting in good position to sign him if they want him badly enough. We'll see what unfolds over the next few hours.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Perhaps you've heard Pittsburgh WR Nate Washington's name tossed around in connection with the Bucs.

Well, now we're hearing the rumors are very legitimate. The Bucs have a serious interest in the Steelers' No. 3 receiver who in 2008 finished with 40 receptions for 631 yards. We've also learned Washington's camp is expecting a deal that includes a guaranteed sum in the neighborhood of $7-million to $8-million.

But if the Bucs intend to sign Washington, it seems they'll have competition. The Rams also are believed to be preparing to pursue the 25-year-old from Tiffin University.

This could be just the tip of the iceberg in what could be an active night (and early morning) for the Bucs.

I think this would be a great addition. He is young and has alot of upside. 7 or 8 mil is not alot of guranteed money and sounds like a deal the BUCS would offer. If we can land a guy like him I think it would be nice to sign Clayton to have as a number 3 that could work the middle of the field.

Jimbo

I would like this signing and while there at it they should sign another Steeler in Byron Leftwich to give some good competition to McCown

ty guy

Washington would be a great addition as a no. 2 reciever to pair with Antonio Bryant. I could still see us drafting Darrius Heyward-Bey or Percy Harvin if this happens but I would also see Beanie Wells, Knowshon Moreno, or trading down and picking Lesean McCoy. I'm getting ahead of myself. Lets just see what happens.

Nate Washington and Devry Henderson and I will be a happy HAPPY Bucs fan.. These two could be the future..

DR

If you're asking for Devry Henderson and are a Clayton hater, well, I give up. Henderson may have the worst hands in the league.
Washington would be a nice fit with Bryant with his speed.

cody

Just say no to Henderson.

Erick

Is Washington really that good? I just don't know enough about him, just his name.

OAR

DR-flip, prove to us that Henderson has the worst hands in the NFL. I'm waiting, just like you said with Clayton. Unfortunately, there are no stats kept offically on dropped balls, just the ones you see with your own two eyes(in Claytons case I saw a lot of dropped passes). Do you watch Henderson as much as I watched Clayton(a good 97% of Bucs games, I have watched the last 12 years before than maybe 80%)? Well you might since you are not a Bucs fan.

OAR

Besides Devery(BTW) Henderson has been much more produtive than Clayton. Both drated same year. Clayton had 9tds, 13/yd rec, 2706 yds. While Henderson has 14tds, 21/yd rec, 2209yds. Did I mention that Henderson's numbers are with half as many recptions as Clayton(106 to Claytons 205). Please give up on the love for Clayton.
