Buccaneers adding rookie free agents and tryout players
The Buccaneers are in the process of adding some rookie free agents as well as players who will help round out the roster for the weekend's rookie minicamp.
Perhaps the most interesting name is Tennessee CB DeAngelo Willingham, who was signed to a rookie free agent contract according to his agent, Ron Slavin. Willingham, a 5-foot-11, 217-pound press cornerback, had 12 teams pursuing him after he went undrafted, Slavin said. He finished 2008 with 42 tackles, 24 solo, three interceptions and four pass breakups. Some teams have also viewed him as a safety because of his impressive size.
"I was shocked he wasn't drafted," Slavin said.
Among the other players believed to have been offered rookie free agent contracts are Richmond RB Josh Vaughan and Pittsburgh DL Rashaad Duncan.
Those signed to tryout contracts include two USF prospects: TE Cedric Hill and DE Jarriett Buie. Another tryout prospect is former Tampa Bay Tech standout LB Maurice Crum of Notre Dame, who was given the impression he has a legitimate shot at being offered a contract. Because of his local ties, Drum was among the prospects evaluated by the Bucs in a workout featuring players from the region a few weeks ago.

I love it! I know these guys are not 1st round draft picks, but to have 2 more DL coming to camp will be great for the competition! I don't see the point of addidng the TE except for the fact that he can be a target for the QB. I don't know much about the RB, but maybe he will be our next Clifton Smith(LOL). GOOD LUCK AT THIS WEEKENDS CAMP ROOKIES!

I like to see this, because it shows that there's a serious commitment to scouting beyond what it obvious. It's kinda like the Rays farm system - you don't have to spend a lot of money to get really talented professionals. You just have to give them a shot to be great.

"I was shocked he wasn't drafted," Slavin said.
HAHAHAHAHA....I love 'agent speak'.

We will all have to wait and see, it's obvious that they have formed a hell of an opinion about the returning Defenders. As far as Freeman goes i hated the fact that they drafted him but he is here now. I'm still routing for Luke but it's obvious that the mgmt isn't high on any of there current QB's on the roster, because if they where they wouldn't have moved in front of Den and selected one of the biggest boom or bust prospects in the draft in my opinion.

Agreed D Block. If Crum is anything like his father, he's a heck of football player. His father was tough as nails. Let's hope we have really good assistant coaches, because the upper management positions seem to be filled with morons.

That's Miller Not Bad either could be very productive and an upgrade over Hovan or Haye but you don't know until they produce on the field when the games count. As far as Moore goes he played at USC and i'm a Notre Dame fan he looked good vs. us lol

Guys, you all are one of many people in Tampa Bay area who seem to be sold on McCown, because the new regime is not! Why else would they have signed Leftwich and pursued Cutler if they really thought he could get the job done? He can't and will be the backup when the season starts and the following season, out the door when Freeman takes over. There's a reason he's a journey-man QB....

Found a highlight on Biggers and this kid can fly. Picked off a 50 yard pass and literally flew down the field on the return. He jams and turns well with the receiver at the point of attack.
Looks like a sleeper...

Drew I also saw the hightlight on the corner from western mich. He has amazing speed so even if his misses and has great recovery speed. Rah and Jim know what there looking for in defense I'll say it again I'm excited. Go Bucs

I don't like Freeman, he has buster written all over him. Let Luke McCown be QB for Bucs and see what he can do. Leftwich is a solid backup at best. He is a fill in when starting QB goes down due to injury. I like that DT Roy Miller; he looks like he has an upside. Overall, Bucs draft: D-
