Cutler former teammate says QB is confident leader

Quarterback Jay Cutler has been characterized as immature, a whiner or malcontent because of the manner in which he has reacted to the Broncos attempt to explore trading him.

But Bucs linebacker Niko Koutouvides, who played with Cutler in Denver last season, says that's not the teammate he remembers.

"From the time I've been around him, I was there one year, he's a confident kid, he's a leader. He made the Pro Bowl last year,'' Koutouvides said.

"He just felt he got disrespected and that's the way they handled it. Maybe some people say he could be handling it better than he is. Maybe, maybe not. That's what he has to deal with. He's the one going through the situation.

"How I know him as a teammate, he's a leader, wanting to win, fiesty, a fighter, likes to take a hit and get back up ready to go.''

Koutouvides said nobody from the Bucs organization has asked him for information on Cutler.

Give them whatever it takes to get the deal done! As a long time fan and seasonticket holder, I am not looking foward to this season with our current QB situation. This trade can put the franchise back in contention for the postseason.

Jake you are CORRECT! I do like JJ & McCown but there no Cutler hopefully when i return it will say Cutler is being flown in to Tampa to be introduced to his Buccaneer teammates!

Cutler is out of reach. Every team on the "want Cutler" list has more to offer than the Bucs, and the Broncoes are probably going to take two picks in the first 2 rounds this year because somebody will give it to them. Also I am not convinced that Cutler didn't benefit from a weak AFC West last year, and is attitude gives me pause. There are always 2 side to every story, but I don't like the way he is handling the Broncoes situation. I still think that if the Bucs are going to pay a high price for a franchise quarterback they need to move up and get Stafford. If the kid is happy to go to Detroit, than he will just love being in Tampa!

Valrico Rick, what are you smoking? Whom might those teams be? It's all over the news that if a trade goes down it will likely be a 3 team deal. Quinn likely goes to Denver. If the Bucs pull it off they will be giving the Browns picks/players. There's no magic to this. If the Bucs want him bad enough, it can happen. The Broncos don't want the Lions 1st overall pick.......too much money. What do the Jets have to offer? The Bears? They pick one spot in front of us. Don't make this sound impossible.

I guess this is good news, in the event we get him. I've heard that he didn't get along with some of his teammates and he wasn't a great leader. It's nice to hear that someone disagrees with that. It would have more value coming from a teammate on O, though.
I'm still not big on the move because it will cost an obscene amount. If they're really considering Freeman in the 1st, they should get Cutler. I'll give him that much.

Brandon

Do you morons realize what the cost for Cutler would be? Our defense has been crippled by age and defection and we have done nothing to improve it. We need to re-invest in what made this team great, the defense.

Any of you ding-dongs out there know what would happen when a diabetic that has to have insulin shots DURING games would have to play in the hottest NFL city? Not pretty. Luke McCown has just as much if not more physical ability than Cutler, he needs experience to realize his potential, give it to him, let somebody else take the chance on the cry baby diabetic.
