Jon Gruden to appear at Marcum football camps

There is one surefire way to enhance the status of a football camp.

Produce a big-name speaker.

In that regard, Tim Marcum has succeeded.

Chucky The Storm coach, who is trying to stay busy with the future of the Arena Football League in limbo, will host a series of camps in June. At one of the sessions, former Bucs coach Jon Gruden, who recently was named as a host of Monday Night Football, is expected to take part.

“That’s a big deal,” Marcum said.

The non-contact camps will focus on skills, fundamentals and techniques inside the St. Pete Times Forum.

“It should be fun,” Marcum said. “I’m looking forward to it. Where else can you get instruction inside with air-conditioning?”

Gruden, who led the Bucs to a Super Bowl title but was fired in January, will be the camp’s guest speaker June 7, Marcum said. He will give insight on how to become a successful athlete.

You gotta find a better picture of Gruden. You have to have a database of 6 years of photos and THIS is the one? I mean if it was a pic of Al Davis, I'd understand....

Vince

Marcum must not read the Times. If he did, no way he asks for Gruden's help. What does Gruden know about football?

OAR

Vince, come on man. I guarantee he knows way more than us posters(or should I say posers).

OAR

Krutch, and some think the Times staff didn't dog him. You know they only put up the pictures a mother would love.

Erick

Yeah, the picture sucks, but so does he as a coach. He knows a ton about football but he doesn't know the first thing about dealing with people in a upright manner.

BucFandango

Actually, I thought that was one of Chucky's better shots. I think that's as good as it gets. Man, I bet he was the worst kid on the planet. That is a face that could burn down a complete neighborhood. Not even a mother could love that face. "Hell no, I ain't that baby's daddy!" BTW, is anybody's dog or cat missing?

DR

Is this foreshadowing?
Introducing the coach of the Tampa Bay...Storm...Joooooooooon Grrruuuuuudeeeeeeeennnnnn!
Just a thought and "just saying..."

Is Jon Gruden the greatest coach. No. Did he get fair treatment by the media, not a chance. Case in point, the picture. The propaganda machine moves on, but only some of us believe in the stuff that goes on in the local media. Whether he is a coach time will tell. He will get another shot some where else, and I am sure the comments will continue.

DR

Just think about what your saying. The Times is biased about Gruden and his firing because they printed a picture like this, but six years ago it was okay because this is the lovable "Chucky" that won a super bowl. You probably bought a Chucky shirt that had a picture just like the one on here. It's not the Times that is hating, but you haters yourselves.

BucFandango

DR, I thought you pretty much hated Gruden and wanted him fired. It sounds like maybe you don't feel that way now. I like to take pokes at Chuckles but I'm still one of his biggest fans, and I'd trade him for Raheem in a heartbeat. As far as the pic goes, that's him through and through. The suits he wore on the Draft coverage didn't fit him near as well as that sweaty T and the mean ugly scowl. I don't feel the Times took a shot at him today. It is what it is. When your rich and famous or infamous, you have to take your licks like everybody else. The smart ones shrug it off and laugh their way to the Bank. Have you seen Chucky's house? Not too shabby...

Itch

The vast press conspiracy strikes again!

If you were to take a 1,000 photos of Gruden at various points in his everyday job coaching the bucs, you would have seen some sort of scowl, stress, anger or yelling at least 70% of the time. That is not a bad thing, Gruden was passionate about his job. But the picture is pretty characteristic of the Jon Gruden we either love or hate.

STIXX

That is the scowl that everyone in the NFL is used to. I dont think that was a "putdown" thats just the face we all were used to seeing.

Times Editor

As the person who wrote this item, blame me for the pic ... In our archives, it was simply the first one I found ...

Well said, Erick, well said.

Xs and Os he knows - human relations, well maybe he needs to give Dr. Phil a call?

After reading this article, I rented all of the Childs Play movies. The picture in this article was taken from Childs Play 2. Does posting it on this site violate copyright laws?
