Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris' Friday quotes
Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris' Friday quotes, courtesy of the Bucs:
(On Antonio Bryant not practicing today)
"It's never good when you don't practice; that will always be an issue. He's missed a bunch of practices this year. We've got him on the questionable list right now. We've just get him to the game and see if he's going to go."
(On if Bryant has had his knee checked out again)
"Our doctors are in constant communication with him. He has his own doctors, so we all look at it. It's been double-checked. He's gone back in, he's looking at it again, helping it out, seeing what he can do to get better."
(On if Bryant aggravated his original knee injury)
"I don't know if it was an aggravation. I think it was just a fighting issue. He was out here this week, too. I don't have any true doctor terms for you, but I'm sure he'll be trying to play and fighting to play."

(On if there has been talk of Bryant having additional surgery)
"No, no talk about that."
(On who would start if Bryant is out)
"You've got a plethora of guys. It would probably be platoons. You've got B.C. [Brian Clark], who is probably listed as the backup on the depth chart, but you've also got Mo [Stovall], who knows the position. You also have Yamon Figurs, who we got off the street. We also have Sammie Stroughter who goes in there and plays a bunch of X for you when he has a chance at spot duty. He's our starting Zebra but he can come in at X a little bit as far as some spot duty."
(On if Clayton's wrist injury is affecting his ability to catch the ball)
"He had full participation the last couple of days, so I'm pretty fired up about everything. This is his wrist – it's kind of weak but there's nothing on it, no cast, no nothing. He's out there practicing so we'll have to go see."
(On how Josh Freeman looked in practice)
"He looked good, not bad. He had a chance to go out there and get in the huddle, take control and have a chance to talk to some of the veterans in there with him, as far as [Jeff] Faine, getting on the same page with a Faine type of guy. Kellen [Winslow] is always in constant communication with guys. Really positive stuff. Kellen is a…I don't want to call him a mentor or anything like that, but Kellen does have some really good things to say to the young guy. He's talking to him and they communicate well. They always have. That's kind of been a little thing I've seen develop here for awhile. Kellen Winslow's one of those guys who does a lot of extra work on the scout team, so even when Josh was running some of the scout-team things I saw Kellen jump in with him and they talked about routes and progressions and things of that nature. That's a little bit of a nice relationship that we'd like to see get done here for the next couple years. Yesterday you saw those guys out there throwing extra routes and doing extra work. I think that's good."
(On Green Bay CBs Charles Woodson and Al Harris squatting on short passes)
"I don't know if they squat. Usually they're standing right up in your face, just beating you up. You're talking about two excellent corners, and you're talking about one, especially, being a big-time ballhawk. He's been that throughout his career. They are playing some more off coverage. They're doing some different things on defense, but when they're off you know they're going to be very aggressive, they're going to be very confident. That's the type of players they are. That's the type of player you have to be in this league to play corner. They're issues. They're something to deal with."
(On Freeman's command in the huddle)
"That started when he was leading that scout-team offense. I know it's a card, but a lot of the concepts are the same in this league. All those guys do a lot of the really good things. You started to see that with the scout team, you started to see him develop that, now you've got to develop that rapport with the first unit. That's all a part of him being on the same page with Faine and Donald Penn, making the call, talking with his running back. It was actually great today to see a guy make a mistake and have him correct it, him getting a play repeated that was a mistake by somebody else and him having an ability to recognize it was a mistake by the other player and go talk to him."
"No, no talk about that."

Anyone willing to guess a final score on Sunday?
I'm saying 35-3.

Hey John, I expect the Bucs to pull this one out. But not by that much. I think it will be much closer.

Is a plethora more than a bushel?
Posted by: George C. Costanza | November 07, 2009 at 12:24 AM
yeah George, a plethora should be used when talking about pinatas. It's very good to know we have a plethora of recievers, but where are the pinata?
We could have a plethora of zebra pinata, maybe.
Wait, maybe that would be a herd of zebra pinatas?

Great, Radio says... "Brian Clark is probably listed as the backup at X" Probably? Doesn't he know, I mean, afterall, isn't he the guy that puts together the depth chart?
Clark, your Three Amigos reference was lost on anybody 30 or younger and likely forgotten by those older. That movie is 25 years old.

I am a fan of professional football and a follower of the BUCS follies since inception. But it is these quotes of vague, random, vacuous, and often moronic content that make me glad I'm not a sports writer. Bring back John McKay. There was a coach who could deliver a quip.

Brandon: I am 31 years old and even with your superior intellect you managed to pick the movie referred too.
Also, it would be great for us fans to know who will play split end(x) reciever, but it would also be great for Green Bay's Defense. So even if Morris isn't playing dumb, it would be smart to in this instance.
One more thing Brandon, I don't mind if you rag on what I post, please do, but try not to include my name in with a stupid question like that. If you want to claim your smarter than anybody please bring an intellegent argument as to why. Clearly your not too familar with press conferences or why certain information could be used against someone's agenda or game strategy. I don't see a career in politics your future.

Lying to the media is one thing Gruden/Allen did exceptionally well together. I'm not saying they didn't do other things well together, but being sneaky and deceitful to the media was their specialty.
They treated the media reporters like mushrooms: "Feed them sh$t and keep um in the dark"
Any movie buff will know where that line came from.
Bruce Allen's a lawyer and the son of a lawyer/politician so being manipulative and sneaky is probably is one of his attributes.
The big problem with Gru/Allen was being decietful when they dealt with their own players. At least that's what some of their former players and coaches reported.

Lmao
It would be smart to start Clark & Stroughter or Stovall. But PLEASE NO MORE CLAYTON! If you can fire the OC before the season, bench Lefty & JJ, cut Brooks & cut 2 kickers during the season you can DEFINETELY BENCH CLAYTON for not doing his JOB! That is to catch the ball, score TD's and help out the QB and team by moving the chains. 7 Games played and he only has 11 catches 0 TD's and he is a Starter. He does lead the league in 1 category DROPS! Crabtree already has 11 catches & a TD.

28 - 7 GB wins

GB 31
TB 22
I think our new kicker will give us 5 for 5 field goals today and prove that we finally have a franchise FG kicker. Freeman on the other hand will take quite a few games to prove the same to the fans. Good luck BUCS!
