Video: Current Bucs can learn from the 1979 squad
The 2009 Bucs can learn from the 1979 squad, which will be honored at Sunday's game against the Packers, Times sports columnist Gary Shelton says in this video clip from "The Lineup,'' 6-6:30 p.m. weeknights on Bright House Sports Network.

That is the most frustrating part of this "rebuilding process". There does NOT appear to be any improvement. I understand the necessity for patience but the Bucs need to throw us a bone.

Gary Shelton is the man! As clever a sports writer (or any other kind of writer) you'll find.
One nitpick: In 1979, Doug Williams wasn't a rookie. He was drafted in 1978.

I feel your pain Leo and the thing that hurts the most is not the losses, it's the fact that we aren't even competitive right now. The game is basically over if the other team gets ahead, which is usually their first possession. I remember one of Radio's quotes was that the team needed to start better and that they needed to finish better. No sh@t coach. What does that leave half-time? I don't even know why the team even leaves the field for halftime, they certainly are not coming up with any brilliant coaching strategys the whole world doesn't know already.

"Shelton is the man!" Are you kidding me BroBuc? When Gruden was here and the team was losing, he was pretty quick to badmouth the whole regime, although cleverly at times. As soon as the team would start winning again, Shelton would completely change his toon and it would be skys the limit for the team. After that crap I lost all respect for the man. So no Shelton ain't the man. Shelton ate a man, that's about it.

Gary's next headline could be: "Buccaneer's can't find a win, I can't find my neck."

Sounds like clark kent gets kinda bitter when the bucs are losing too.

Dspkable, you have no idea. I'm going to be bitter until the team is at least competitive. I've always been a Bucs fan and always will, win or lose. But it's not that exciting to follow if the team can't at least put up a fight. You play the game to win. You want your team to win. If you don't care if your team wins, why bother to even watch the games? Why bother to read these blogs? Shelton just gets under my skin, I will admit though, he is better than anyone at the trib., I'll give him that.

"Shelton just gets under my skin, I will admit though, he is better than anyone at the trib., I'll give him that."
You got that right. I noticed the same things you did about Shelton. He's not incredibly insightful and his opinion isn't consistant week to week. I miss Hubert Mizell. He was "the man."

They play like they have been learning from the 76' Bucs.

As mentioned in the video, the Bucs had learned with experience how to over-come adversity when the consideration of losses and young professional talent is expressed. This something that even asd a young fan that is thought that the team has to no-longer witness anymore as the growth of the team is considered. Although Tampa is still a rather young team the in NFL the expectation of a backward spiral does not have to be brought into play to condition the team for better playing options and marketing venues that my arise as of now. 23 years later, the Tampa franchise is still struggling to make a name for them selves amongst the National Football League.

Ugh, "mood ring of honor", the Bee Gees - Shelton is about as insightful as my 8 year old daughter, and she's far funnier.

Everyone is a critic... behind a computer screen.
Clark Kent, you wouldnt have the guts to call Raheem Morris, a Man (something you are not) a derogatory name to his face, but you will behind an LCD screen.
When did we lose sight of .."if you dont have something good to say...."
