Note to Readers: Commenting on Posts
We apologize for any trouble you may have experienced attempting to comment on posts earlier today.
Please note that registration for The Buzz is optional. You may (1) comment anonymously or you may (2) create an account (known as a "TypeKey") and comment each time with a unique user name.
Whether you choose to comment anonymously or create an account, the first step is the same - click on the "Comments" link at the bottom of any post.
If you would like to create an account, the next step is to click on the "Sign In" link under the heading "Post a Comment" and follow the instructions.
As one of the final steps of registration, you will be asked to confirm your email address by responding to an email entitled “Activate Your TypeKey Account” from typekey@typekey.com.
If you choose to comment anonymously, you do not need to register.
We look forward to reading your comments on the important political issues facing Floridians.

I created a Typekey account using the name "zenator", but each time I post my comment is anonymous. How can I fix this problem?

In contrast, when I do not use a typekey account, but sign in under the name zenator look what happens

Having anonymous posts does not appeal to me at all. I can not relate to the personality or train of thought with one anonymous post after another.
Part of what made this Blog appealing was that the personalities could develop and we began to feel like we knew each other in a way. We could speculate about who each other might actually be in real life. I would wonder if I were rubbing shoulders with David or Irish Wiskey or Terminator or Moderate or Republican mushroom at our local events or office. Or maybe they were actually elected officials or their staff or the reporters. Who knew? But we could get to know each other and enjoy the creative whit and wisdom with some vitriol for spice.
It was really like a mysterious coffee house or a free wheeling debate with no holds barred at Clyde's all with the mask of a pen name.
Now, it's not really worth much time I'm sorry to say. I think it will just be mush!

I agree with 1catalyst. I strongly oppose the anonymous posts.
In addition to the coffee shop feature, from time to time, the buzz blog offered a forum for insiders on opposite sides to communicate directly in a safe forum. Typically, such bloggers would establish a consistent identity, establish their bona fides by referencing inside baseball information and then engage in some very interesting communications. Soon that will disappear

this has been quite a pain in the ass

This new format on the buzz blog has improved nothing; but rather inhibited the normal debate often enjoyed by many of the bloggers.
It's hard to read, easy to manipulate and definitely not as engaging.
gopn1

the previous post was made by the FALSE gopn1, NOT the authentic blabbering gopn1 that most bloggers have decided to hate.
the REAL gopn1 likes this new format and applauds the ability to post anonymously, now that Gallagher is in real trouble.
Posted by: gopn1 | July 29, 2006 at 02:19 AM
You really are a freak FALSE gopn1 what don't you take on CV's identity, or are you CV?
Adam how can you stop the person that posted at 2:29 AM that is not gopn1? This is absurd, I want the password protection back.
Gallagher is not in real trouble and David and Terminator know I would not say that.
Lovely article on AG Crist in the SPT today by the way PHONY gopn1: that ought to really make the Republicans run and vote for Charlie.
You are are phony as the candidate you back, assume some other name than my screen name.
GO TOM!

OMG I agree with gop1 ... heck I'd probably agree with buzz if he/she was here too ... 1cat has it exactly right - our personalities were what made this fun and easy to use ...
Adam - please change it back to the old way - please or maybe we'll have to visit the trib's blog - no one's been there because thebuzz was so damn easy and fun, get it - fun! even if their columnists have been left behind and out of the "in the know"

Memo to Editors,
See why this is not working? (post 8:34PM)
I now have a gay impostor claiming to be me, 1catalyst.

Back when Buzz was on Blogger and allowing anonymous comments, it descended into a "you stink" "you suck" virtual shouting match and the powers that be decided to go to a registered-bloggers-only system. Evidently it was possible to remain essentially anonymous while establishing a Blogger identity, but it was a somewhat complex/burdensome process that required you to create a blog in order to create an online identity, even if you didn't want a blog. However, over the course of several months people bit the bullet and signed up and gradually the number of participants grew and a fairly lively dialog got going once again. So what does the Times do? Things are working fine, can't have that. Let's go back to anonymous comments--worse, even, because now people can fake identities and you can't tell who the hell is who.

I completely agree with how bad this new system is. But isn't it funny that you can still spot a CV post a mile away? Even without the incessant copying-and-pasting, his distinctive illiteracy and inanity remains unmistakable.

Why oh Why do you TG folks make it so easy :))))
The one and only CV :)

This is awful. I used to really like this blog. I'm leaving now. Count me as one of the unhappy customers who have left.
