Rod pandered to another paper.

Great endorsement for Crist, that area of southwest Florida is just full of Republicans who vote faithfully.

And would the Davis crybabies just quit bitchin. Jeez, Rod is more centrist than Davis, so Smith gets an endorsement from a right of center paper. How is this pandering?
Oh yeah, remember Fort Meade!

If TG has such a great plan for Florida why is every paper rejecting him? This has got to hurt. He got most of the ed boards when he ran last in 94.

It looks like all the Newspapers uderstand Rod Smith is the better candidate.

They see through the fact that Jim Davis is just a nice guy who's been a mediocre legislator and congressman.

Someone, quick, take away all the belts and shoelaces of the Davis Campaign staff. They are getting schooled.

Way to go Davis camp, I see your new add addresses and issue Smith has already addressed in his adds.

Will Davis' 3rd ad be on "Stem Cell Research"?

Oh wait, he probably won't have enough money for a 3rd ad buy.

1:30, We saw how good the ed boards did TG in '94. We don't want liberals in the media to like us.

When the media likes a Republican, we KNOW he is no such thing.

The papers always slant things in favor of the Ds. In this case, they endorse the worse R and the best D. Thet's their kind of matchup.

Its obvious - Rod Smith is the better candidate. His verbal skills, his intelligence, his straight talking and looking eye to eye with anyone asking questions. This is why Rod Smith is the nightmare of the Republican party. He doesn't back down and he not afraid to answer the questions asked.

Big Deal.

The perfect match up for the liberal state papers (in their dreams).

In one corner ladies and gentleman the ultra light weight, low in carbs & policy; and in the other corner, heavy weight specialist in left wing policy Rod Smith.

Any surprise here?

Go Tom Gallagher

A huge endorsement for Crist. Southwest Florida is the "bread and butter" of the Republican Party. The most Republican districts in the legislature are all in Southwest Florida. The Naples Daily News is considered a conservative paper (when compared to the Herald, Times, News-Press and Post). Another big win for Crist....with the clock winding down. Early voting starts in 5 days...

Orlando Sentinel called AG Crist Democrat lite yesterday.

hmm,... I wonder why?

Can anyone out there picture a debate between Rod Smith and Charlie Crist? Oh, that's right. Charlie is afraid of a debate where a moderator might press him to really answer questions.

Naples Daily News is considered a conservative paper? By whom? It is just as liberal and therefore s anti Republican as any other. That's why they endorse the weaker R. The one with no substance. The one who can't hold up his end in a debate. The one with "skeletons" in his "closet".

Come out, Charlie, come out, come out wherever you are!!!

Charlie will call in sick if he does not have the questions ahead of time
OR he might say this to the moderator "good question, what do you think?"

bonk!

Here's the theme song for the Crist team's response to the new ad for TG posted on his website..

"It's my party and I'll cry if I want to"

WAH WAH WAH, Boo hoo.

I notice they called it "negative & shameful," but did not refute his positions.

Oops, No hiding under the Ronald Reagan blanket anymore.

You can tune a piano, but you can't tuna a RINO.

"Sorry Charlie"- you're as liberal.

Read it and weep TGites...Crist endorsements:

SP Times
PB Post
Naples Daily News

2:19 you poor misguided soul...so blind, so ignorant, so misinformed. The RINO in the race is Gallagher. Look at his actions, not his words.

As for debates, bring them on. Crist is a superior candidate, a great speaker, and will stomp the man with the fake smile and stiff hair.

hehe he ... his name is 'rod' ... huhhuh huh.

Since relatively few people read the newspapers today, a newspaper endorsement by itself is not that meaningful. However, if a candidate has enough of them, they can be very effective in a TV ad, if used correctly.

In most elections, every candidate attempts to garner as many endorsements as possible from major newspapers, including TG. The only apparent exception is Katherine "Yes I Am A Serious Nutcake" Harris.

It is just a matter of "sour grapes" for TG's supporters now to say that TG really didn't want an endorsement from this or that liberal rag.

Anyone else agree that the Repub primary has turned into a real yawner? You know it is boring when everyone gets worked up over a contrast ad.

The Dem primary is far more interesting with the Rodsquad versus the party establishment and its candidate.

1:26- When Rod's endorsed by the Trial Lawyers, he pandered to them. When the Unions endorsed him, he pandered to them. When Sugar endorsed him, he pandered to them. So basically what you're saying is that anyone who endorses Rod Smith are people to whom Rod panders. My goodness, with all the endorsements coming in, I'm amazed he has time for anything besides pandering. Or perhaps you just couldn't defend another paper from which your candidate failed to get an endorsement.

How can people vote for Collins? He's pro-choice!!!

As opposed to Katherine Harris, who is by all accounts the personification of evil?

I'll take someone I can respectfully disagree with on one issue over the neighborhood not so friendly psychopath.

1:32, 1:36, 1:39, 1:48
mega dittos

The Naples News? Pleazzzzzeeeeee!

2:31
The guy with the fake smile and stiff hair will beat the anorexic looking tan guy with the dyed hair any day of the week!

1:30 you comments are ignorant and Xenophobic. Please, don't tell anyone you are a Republican. Real Republicans are intellignet and educated and know that there are very conservative meadia also. learn to read and stop sounding like you live under a rock parroting what you hear other idiots say.

This is actually directed to 1:32

Harris Makes Very, Very, Very, Believable, and Very, Very, Very Good Points As To Why She Missed The Meeting.

(Somewhere in Florida -- or so Katherine told me) -- The Katherine Harris for U.S. Senate campaign today said the candidate missed the Hillsborough REC meeting because of Bill Gates.

"Bill Gates is a spoiled little brat who was born with a silver-spoon in his a** -- er, uh, mouth. His program, Microsoft Outlook is flawed. I told him when he loaded it on my computer and he just smiled that toothy grin of his. He should consider getting braces, and he's so skinny he makes Olive-oil look like Jabba the Hut," Harris said.

"These outrageous attacks on my computer will not be tolerated. I will fire anyone who puts malicious viruses on my office program, Lotus Notes. These unethical lapses will not be tolerated until people quit. Then I will blame them relentlessly without acutally naming them," Harris added.

"My new team of dedicated morons --er, I mean Mormons, yes, that's what I mean. They are very religious. I mean VERY religious. They make my Spiritual Advisor Dr. Dale Burroughs look like, well, a normal person," Harris added.

"I know Al Gore did not invent the Internet, because I did. Oh, and just because there was only one idiot at the entire meeting wearing one of my stickers, doesn't mean I am going to lose," Harris concluded.

###
Media reports later noted that Bill Gates was not born rich, that Harris doesn't know how to operate Outlook -- much less Lotus Notes, and that neither she nor Al Gore invented the internet. Accounts also questioned Harris as to whether she has EVER fired anyone. After promising to check on that for five days, she failed to produce the name of a single person she ever fired (not even Eddie!). The media basically agreed that her current staff are morons and that a fish rots from the head down so it's Harris' own damned fault.

It appears McBride is getting scared of Collins. I guess since he can't explain his role in the illegal immigration rally (the national one on May 1, 2006 when all the illegals did a workstoppage), he and his supporters will start to attack Collins with lies and half-truths lawyers are known for.

From Collins' website:

http://www.leroycollins.org/theissues.html

Abortion:
As a United States Senator, I would vote to ban the horrific procedure known as partial-birth abortion. Additionally, I would support common-sense legislation requiring parental consent, a 24-hour waiting period, and spousal notification, among others.

That's hardly pro-choice.

The Palm Beach Post has an article on McBride's pro-illegal immigration problem (and photo of him holding a banner of a group opposed to immigration reform) at a rally in Tampa on May 1, 2006.
