Sink Raises Democrat Hopes

It's been four years since someone with a "D" behind the name filled a Florida Cabinet seat. Since then, Democrats suffered another White House defeat - largely on Florida soil. Since then, Democrats watched the GOP redraw political districts to protect the party's 2-to-1 lead in the state House.

And several prominent local Democrats defected. Dark days, indeed. But lo, the star Asellus Borealis ("Northern Donkey") shines bright and word of a possible political savior is spreading across the land. Democrat Alex Sink is running for chief financial officer, or CFO. If she wins this Cabinet seat, she'll run a state department that's respectable in size but still smaller than the behemoth Bank of America she ran in Florida. Full story is here.

Sink is the d's best hope? once again, they will go down in flames.

Other than running a huge financial intitution successfully, what would be some other qualifications for State CFO? Hhmmmmmmm? I'm listening...

Sink is a nice lady. But what a bore. If she is the best hope of Democrats, that's good news for Republicans.

I've seen Sink on the stump. She speaks eloquently but doesn't say much. Just because she's a banker does not make her fit to be in politics. Because she's a nice lady does not mean she can take control in a political setting. I see her as a VERY weak candidate, but a very nice lady.

The fight to watch is RJ v TL. Those two are getting into it. Should be a very exciting primary.

Sink is by far the most qualified candidate for this job. Who better to be Chief Financial Officer than someone who has nearly thirty years of financial experience? And she is tough as nails. A woman doesn't rise to the top of the banking industry unless she knows how to lead. Those of you who underestimate her do so at your serious peril.

Sink supporter:
From what I've seen IN PERSON, she cannot hold her own against some men that are very tough.

Sink is no doubt the best qualified. The CFO position should be held by a business person and not a politican. However, Sink is in serious need of a political transformation. She is NOT politically savy which translates to - she does NOT know how to reach the voter. That campaign can be won by a series of mailers and commercials. She should not speak to groups. Regardless, I am an RJ supporter.

Best qualified? for what, running a bank? Please. Those who say that have never looked at the CFO job description.

Considering I worked in the office for 18 months, I think I know. Accounting & Auditing. These are business-related divisions. A BUSINESS PERSON would be the most qualified. TL is a selfish bastard with little business experience. RJ has very little business experience. Now I know you are an R and Lord knows I am too, but at some time, I have to face reality as to who the best person is to be in this position - even though I am voting RJ all the way.

Pirate, I have seen her in person as well. She doesn't speak in Tallahassee bromides like Tom Lee. Rather, she is folksy and honest -- two qualities we definitely need in our statewude elected officials.

2:20 or 2:21....

You should sign in or give yourself a name.

I'm glad she doesn't speak like Tom Lee. He's a deal breaker, liar and fake.

I'll admit she seems honest... And yes, she may have qualifications.... But she is NOT a politician! She would be eaten alive in the Capitol.

Alex Sink may be the D's best shot at the Cabinet. Lord knows Jim Davis will get clobbered by Charlie Crist, Bronson beats up on what's his name, and even McCollum edges out Campbell.
Trouble is, the CFO can't veto insurance bills, or banking bills, or spending bills. The GOP Governor does. A CFO Sink will still have to take a back seat to the Republicans.

Randy Johnson! he actually has a plan!

The MAN with the PLAN!

The MAN with the PLAN!

btw... I HATE what this blog looks like and how you have to post. There are TOOOOO many repeats and no on owns up to what they are saying.

"I am the only candidate with financial experience..."

Give me a break. There is SO MUCH MORE to being a cabinet member than that- anyone who doubts that doesn't have a clue. Sink is going to have a lot of explaining to do come general election...
