Trammpling Vern Buchanan?
In the Republican primary to succeed Katherine Harris in Congressional District 13, Tramm Hudson is touting an internal poll showing him with a 12-point lead. The Tarrance Group, Hudson's pollster, surveyed 300 likely GOP primary voters Aug. 2-3. They found Hudson backed by 45 percent, Vern Buchanan backed by 23 percent, Nancy Detert by 10 percent, Mark Flanagan by 8 percent, Donna Clarke by 7 percent, and 18 percent undecided. The margin of error was plus or minus 5.8 percent.
Pollster Dave Sackett said in a memo that Hudson's favorability rating is six points higher than Buchanan's and that Hudson enjoys a favorable/unfavorable ratio of five to one, compared to two to one for Buchanan.

I got the feeling from people I talk to that Hudson is leading this thing. Plus, Buchanan has a shady past. Since this is Katie Hairdo's old district, it is no surprise Buchanan can't win.

Hey! Leave my old boss alone. I am sorry, I didn't mean that, rip her a new one! I could not even keep a straight face.
As for her old seat, Blather is right. I live down here and every Republican I know is voting for Hudson, mainly because he is known as a stand up guy and we have have Katherine Harris for the last 4 years. Buchanan strikes all of us as Katherine, only taller.
Plus, let's be honest, a used car salesman in Congress?

Anyone else get the feeling that you need to shower after you talk to Vern Buchanan? I'm sure glad Tramm Hudson is running strong. He's the best candidate I've seen run for Congress in years.
I think we will all shed one big crockodile tear when Vern Buchanan learns there is something he can't buy and people he can't bully

I'm really glad to see Tramm doing so well! I feel really bad for the people in Sarasota -- it's about time they got a congressman with integrity!
BTW - has anyone seen Hudson's commercials? Very "reganesque"
Posted by: politicalpuppy | August 08, 2006 at 04:15 PM
Tramm has the integrity to serve us well in Congress. I'm glad to hear of these poll results.

I stumbled upon this posting as I tried to look for all the stories I could on this Buchanan fella.
I've seen him at lots of Republican events promising to be the strongest on this or the most dedicated on that and it makes me think he's just flapping his lips with no substance behind them. Anyone else catch the news stories about his businesses in Michigan? Sounds like he'll step over anyone he needs to in order to win.
This Hudson guy looks like the real deal. I look at him and see the principles of Ronald Reagan. I look at Buchanan and see Duke Cunningham's ethics in the cheap suit of a car dealer.
I'm going to keep watching this one. But for now, I say full speed ahead Tramm Hudson.

Ater hearing a radio ad from someone out of the area condeming Buchanan for his shady business dealings, I'm happy that we have another choice. Good luck Mr. Hudson. You have my vote!

Is it just me or does this read "Aug 2-13". Today is Aug 8th.
Posted by: | August 08, 2006 at 04:42 PM
The results are on their website.
www.trammhudson.com. It says Aug 2nd thru the 3rd. Anyone know about the Tarrance Group? They seem pretty serious. Did you see their client list on their website? (www.tarrance.com)

Vern Buchanan thinks he can buy the election. He'll probably put millions more into the race. I think people are smart enoughto see through him. I've not met anyone who knows Tramm who doesn't think he's the best candidate. I've heard lots of negatives about Vern and I don't think he could beat the Dems in November.
Posted by: innocent observer | August 08, 2006 at 05:00 PM
I hear Hudson actually has more money on hand now than Buchanan. Looks like Hudson's hard work may overcome what was intitially a serious money disadvantage.

Tarrance Group is a very reputable firm...I would know!
As for Trammel and his campaign, well LOVE LOVE LOVE his campaign manager (he's a hottie) and hope all the best for them. I don't agree with a lot of things said about Vern though. Gotta disagree with the bully part and the buying the election. But thats just my humble opinion. I say "let the best man win"...
Posted by: honestabe | August 08, 2006 at 06:40 PM
And the best man is...
Hudson, who is, though a long time hard-working Republican, the anti-Katherine Harris, our most disgraceful Republican. Hudson will be a refreshing breath of fresh air.

how typical of mac and the tarrance group on the bogus polling gig! i can ask poll questions that make mother teresa look bad.
glad to see the hudson interns on here (all 4 of you). you kids crack me up!

Good to see another of Vern's paid lackeys on here lapping up the usual crap fed to them.
Enjoy your last few weeks of employment.

TH's poll is a "who would you vote for poll" of likely voters. Very credible.
VB has been parading around polls for months based only on name recognition and telling people he is leading in the polls. Very sneaky and disingenuous, it speaks a lot to his integrity. Also VB claims he is a fiscal conservative. How can that be when he squandered away his sizeable money lead in the campaign and now has to put in a million of his own dollars to finish the race? Tell me, if he does that in Congress will be hand over his own money to the US government to cover the difference? Also, that bankruptcy speaks a lot about his character and ability to budget.
Integrity and character will really matter in this race. TH will have him beat hands down.

tramm is weak...he always looks strong running, but when it comes time to pulling the lever, reality seems to set in. for those of you who forgot, while he was chairman of the party, he ran for state committee man and lost to a 70 year old man almost 4 to 1. everyone thought he'd win then and he had his ass handed to him.
vern has done so much for this community already, its a no brainer what he'll do when he gets to washington.
Get R Dun Vern!!

Anyone checking the timestamps on these comments? I wonder how many comments I could make in one hour if I created false e-mail addresses and posted over and over again. Looks like someone is trying to pump up Tramm

Ok I used to be a HUGE Tramm Hudson supporter, but after he started a negative campaign towards Vern Buchanan I can’t stand him! I hate politicans who cannot win solely on their issues. Besides, how can Vern Buchanan be so bad if he is endorsed by: U.S. Senator Mel Martinez, U.S. Representative Mark Foley, Florida Attorney General and soon Florida Governor Charlie Crist, Manatee Country Sheriff Charlie Wells, Sarasota County Sheriff Bill Balkwill and trust me the list goes on. It seems absolutely crazy how Tramm Hudson could attack Vern Buchanan if all of these people seem to trust him. ***BUT most importantly, I can’t believe I fell for Tramm Hudson’s bit on honesty and integrity! This guy is nuts. HE CLAIMS THAT BLACKS CAN’T SWIM OR THEY DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW TO SWIM! I know I don’t want a congressman representing me that is a racist. Tramm Hudson disgusts me, and he is a sick two faced man. He has no character or integrity like he preaches and I hope Vern Buchanan tramples him. Go Vern!
Check out TRAMM HUDSON on video saying “Blacks don’t know how to swim!” We cannot let this guy into Congress, he is just another politician! http://www.redstate.com/stories/elections/2006/tramm_hudson_destroys_himself#comment

Vern Buchanan, do a bit of research and see how he screwed a lot of people.
Look up Vern Buchanan and American Speedy Printing.
Then he went into car sales, great place for a guy like him to end up.
Sure he looks good and donates his money in all the right places, he's a player/user

Well I guess all of those senators, congressman, and sherriffs are wrong, right? Also, why does Tramm Hudson support him?? http://vernbuchanan.com/hudson/moreinfo01.pdf Maybe we should all just support a racist man like Tramm! Right? No way! I know one thing, I will never, ever, support a man who preaches integrity, character, and honesty and then goes off and runs a negative campaign. To make things worse, now we know he is racist towards African Americans. Maybe you should inform Tramm, that African Americans are what make this country great. I know one thing, if i could take one thing back, it would be never giving Tramm Hudson one cent!
By the way, the real VERN? What about the REAL TRAM??? http://www.redstate.com/stories/elections/2006/tramm_hudson_destroys_himself#comment
Does this look like a man of honesty and integrity? PLEASE...

Tram Hudson, you and your campaign team should be ashamed of yourselves!
I know you are the guys typing all of these lies about my mentor in business. Why don't you name yourselves? Because you don't have the integrity to admit your lies.
Let me tell you about the REAL VERN BUCHANAN! He started a little company named American Speedy Printing. It became the largest printing franchise in Michigan and possibly the entire midwest. He inspired everyone I know to become better people. He inspired me to start my business. Now, I own one of the largest advertising agencies in Michigan. You can learn about the company Vern inspired at danielbrian.com. In fact, I did a little website of my own for Vern, just because I owe him the life that I enjoy. Vern did not pay me to do this. In fact, he does not know. Check this out:

I am a real person. Don't believe the lies about Vern in this blog. Nobody in business is perfect, but Vern always does his best for the sake of the people he knows. He took risks, and he has inspired many. Allow him to inspire you as your next Congressman.

We say we want clean politics. We are sick of the accusations. Finally a candidate attempts to have a clean campaign, and we don't know what to do. Vern Buchanan is a is a good guy. Why should we believe this Tram character, if he only has ugly things to say about other candidates? How will Repulicans win the election if we cut each other down?
What do we believe? Who will we believe? Do cruel people tell the truth? You do the math! VOTE FOR VERN!
PS: Thanks Daniel for the website. It's COOL:

I've known Vern for twenty years, and I know what it is like to have your own business. You can never make everyone happy. Any business owner knows that you can always find disgruntled employees to testify against you. It's human nature to criticize successful people.
Vern gave a lot of people the opportunity to have their own business, and employed a lot of people who did not have jobs. They still have jobs thanks to Vern. If it was so bad, then why are they still in business and enjoying their jobs and earnings? What is so bad about that?
Think about it people! Speedy Printing earned $300,000 million dollars last year - there would be no Speedy with out Vern. Does he not deserve to take some of those earnings from what he started? No one is perfect. I think he is trying to run an honest campaign without slandering the other person.
Did you notice that the Tramm campaign created an entire website just to attack Vern? What is that about?
Enough of my blah, blah - just had to vent!

What kind of person takes the time and spends the money to create a website just to destroy another person's life? I'm not voting for Tramm.
Posted by: Just Thinking | August 22, 2006 at 10:11 PM
A person of integrity and character is not one who attacks his opponent in attempt to gain support, he gains support because of who he is and what he stands for. What I know of Vern is not based simply on gossip or hearsay, but on personal knowlege of who he is.
Vern is a man of faith, he is a proven and successful leader, he is a wonderful husband and a good father, he cares about people and wants to make a difference in society. Vern is successful, not because he bought his way to the top, he earned his way to the top. I consider one of the reasons for his continued success to be the result of his choice to "give back," like he has done with me and my family.
No man is without flaw, but I do know that a man's true character is always revealed over time. Tramm has already shown us his by his choice to attack. Don't rely on gossip, get to know the REAL Vern by electing him as your next Congressman.
This from a person who also has a name.

"To whom much is given, much is required". How many of us fortunate Americans are willing to honor that scripture? Vern Buchanan did not need to put himself and his family through this negative campaign against him. He could have simply enjoyed the fruit of his labors...which are many...a strong marriage and loving family, material success, and spiritual character molded by both success and trial. Many in his financial situation move to Florida and play...while Vern is willing to go from Florida to work! He is willing to work for all of us in Washington. Isn't it about time we put men there who have actually accomplished great things, rather than just promise them? I met Vern when he was bagging groceries...one of his 2 jobs while he was paying for his own college. I saw him rise to the top of his sales force in his first corporate job, and then realize that some are called to be entrepreneurs...leaders, not followers. He then..while still in his 20's...started building businesses, and today thousands are employed or own their businesses...in some measure because of Vern. These unique men...the high achievers... are often misunderstood, or critisized by many of us who simply can't keep pace...or lack the boldness to even try. Ronald Reagan could have made more millions in Hollywood, George W. Bush could have stayed at the ranch, and Vern Buchanan could lounge in Longboat Key. I shudder to think where this country would be if men like these don't follow their call. Much more so than the rest of us, from such men..."much is required".
But there is another common thread when this call comes...like Abraham, they know WHO is calling...and they are willing to obey! Thanks Vern!

Tramm's boat has sunk. We cannot elect someone that makes stupid comments about blacks, the dems will chew him up and spit him out. His apologies are weak and his so-called supporters are weaker. A clear sign that Tramm's campaign is posting those comments is the fact that they say Fred Piccolo is a "hottie". I bet that is Fred posting that comment about himself. Does anyone even know Tramm's issues? If he spoke more about the issues than insulting minorities and other candidates, the Republicans as a whole would be better off. Tramm has single handedly brought down the Repbulican party in this district. What a sad commentary.
Posted by: fedup | August 25, 2006 at 12:02 PM
I have received tons of political ads in the mail. Tramm Hudson has sent me 1001 reasons not to vote for Vern Buchanan but very little to say about why I should vote for him. Hmmmm, I'm guessing because there are none. That has to be why Hudson's campaign is "Don't vote for that guy" instead of vote for me.

Vern will lose in November. And There will be thousands who will laugh with joy!
Posted by: | October 19, 2006 at 11:27 PM
I feel sorry for the people who will laugh for joy if Vern loses because they will truly be the losers.
In 1984 my husband and I were struggling to make ends meet and wanted to take a chance and venture into the printing business. We were short on finances to complete the deal but thanks to Vern who saw the burning desire my husband had to succeed hooked us up with a couple of individuals that took the chance that we would succeed. We paid them back in record time with interest. Our business was very successful and provided us the opportunity to achieve many successes.
Vern has helped MANY people achieve their goals because he truly cares about other people. Who better to understand the small person that wants to better themselves than Vern who started there himself. He is a self made man who has worked extremely hard to accomplish what he has without help.
We haven't seen Vern since he exited the company but
we will always be grateful to him for the opportunities
he gave us.
Don't believe everything you read in newspapers.

Hey, I promise I know this Vern guy very well. He is one of my very close frinds. I know his accountant very well and mr. vern is so rich and he doesn't run any scandles and he's a good, honest christian man and has two kids, a wife and many friends. The PRESIDENT even backs him up. the president came to one of mr. verns little part things. I Was there. Mr. vern is all real, don't beleive someone else who tells bad stuff about another politician. If you say something bad about somebody, it's usually to cover up your own mistakes. Talking about another politician is for me, a red flag. Mr. Vern won! actually, they're doing a recount, but I believe he already won. (**)
