Pruitt to Stay in Fla. Senate
It won't be Senate President-Designate Ken Pruitt, R-Port St. Lucie, replacing Foley. Pruitt's formal statement: “My thoughts are with Congressman Foley and his family during this difficult time – this is a tragic and sad situation on many levels. I join our community in thanking him for his years of dedicated public service.
“While it is an honor to be rumored as a potential candidate for the Congressional seat, I remain completely committed to serving my constituents in the Florida Senate.

he's sorry for his family?! wtf ... what about the children that he has been abusing and their families?

With Pruitt being a NO and ALL of agriculture not wanting Negron, folks are talking up Sen. Alexander. Their districts overlap and ag loves him. Boy would that make Dockery's day?
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 06:38 PM
Congressman Atwater would a winner.
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 06:43 PM
your right, atwater would be a GREAT pick. it would get his sorry butt out of tallahassee where he has done nothing but cause big problems within the gop. good luck jeffy, dc and palm beaches loss would be a big gain for the rest of the state.
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 06:48 PM
Atwater would be good. Alexander would be good. Negron would be laughable.
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 06:48 PM
Maybe Alex Villalobos can move and run for this seat, that would be great!
gopn1
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 06:50 PM
6:48, that was brilliant. Atwater is going to be Senate President so he's not going anywhere. Alexander is a very likely Senate President so he's staying put. Best shot is Negron.
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 06:50 PM
Ohhhh, Villalobos vs Alexander!!
2 men enter
1 man leave!
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 06:51 PM
Alexander? He doesn't live in the district and he ain't moving. Plus, who in their right mind would give up a golden shot at the brass ring to be a wussy little congressman?
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 06:53 PM
Well I see the buzz birds are out tonight. I wouldn't say Alexander is a shoe-in, but I agree he'd be crazy to give up a great chance to be President just to represent the farm boys in DC.
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 06:55 PM
Corrine delivers!
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 06:57 PM
Atwater would be the best choice. he has undeniable the strongest support base even over Negron, it would also provide a good solution to the Senate issues currently being faced and diffuse tension, even if Villaboso has to still challange someone else, it would reset the competition for presidency back to a fair fight without perceived or realized unfair outside intervention. Atwater is a great guy and would gurantee a win for the R if he got in.
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 06:57 PM
alexander lives in Polk county. where did you wackos learn your florida geography at? you expect jd to move either to palm beach or maybe you think thata the 500,000 cows that live in the middle of that district will be voting? jd would have a name id in the distrct of maybe 3%.
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 07:03 PM
Agenziano, Villalobos and Lynn for Congress!
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 07:05 PM
LOL, cows can vote for Alexander! With enough money, that 10% name id can get JACKED up. Atwater would be great but he's not going to do it. No way Alexander would do it either. Too much to lose.
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 07:22 PM
Foley's seat isn't the only thing you are rumored for Kenny-boy!
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 07:28 PM
I do personally like the idea of Gellerlobos vs Atwater, that would be sweet. But who takes Atwater's place? Alexander wants it for 2010 so who fills in?
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 07:31 PM
Let me give you 1 REALLY good reason it won't be Alexander:
If he goes to Congress, we get Troutman in the Senate. Even JD on his "most aggressive" of days couldn't do that to everyone.

Here's the real question- Will Charlie Crist, Florida's self-proclaimed top cop and protector of children from sexual predators, fully prosecute his good friend and endorser Mark Foley? The ABC transcript has Foley saying he's in Pensacola when he talking to the underage minor, so it would seem that Florida has jurisdiction.
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 08:01 PM
What a joke..Why would the REP waste money on a seat they will lose with Foley on the ticket? His name will be the one people vote for or against...Not anyone else. The REP would be fools to waste this money when there are 3 other hotly contested Congressional seats in Florida that they need to retain.
Conceed, denounce the behavior and quickly move on. If they draw more attention, they prolong the damage.
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 08:13 PM
What will Crist do? hmmmm .... let it be a warning Charlie - we're expecting you to protect and fight for our kids!
Hope Charlie doesn't have anything hiding in his closet either.
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 08:31 PM
Give up the seat? Put down the crack pipe.
Grab Atwater or Alexander or whoever and take it to the liberal bastards!
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 08:36 PM
Why not consider Tom Gallagher? Would he move into the district? What about Will McBride? He made a good showing for short race. I bet he would move. Any others?
Posted by: possible candidates | September 29, 2006 at 08:43 PM
Those are good ideas.
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 08:45 PM
You guys crack me up. Atwater's days as Senate President are over - done, it will never happen. Likely the same for JD - loose cannon, hot potato.
Pruitt would be smart to do it - he's having to compromise his power already and it could get worse if Justice & Jennings win. Plus he's staring at term limits. That would clear the way for a true peace, with Alex taking President now, the Bolanos Boys being neutered, and moderation in the Crist model reigning.
BTW, why was Jeb on the call. He is now irrelevant.

foley and fasono are old news....wait until they drop the next story on harridopolos. his involves students that he taught in class! thats why his name was so quickly droped from the lg race. come clean mike and save the party from more bad news cycles!!!
btw st pete times soviet tass editors, you can randomly take down postings and leave others up but I really want to know why you are protecting mikey boy? everytime someone posts about him you quickly remove them but leave the ones accusing TG of having sex with a woman on the hood of his car and that foley and crist took trips to key west together. stop acting like the soviet tass editors and start upholding your obligation to inform the public!!! (kinda like holding the foley email stories until 5 weeks before the election)

Pruitt would be wise to take this seat.
His Senate Presidency could be the most ignominious in history.
With Villalobos re-election, his GOP renegades and 14 Dems, Pruitt could be in for a rocky ride the next two years.
He would be the most logical candidate.
Take it and run Kenny, cuz you're toast in Tally! Jeb's $6 mill and support for Bolanos couldn't dislodge Alex V.
Now, Villalobos and crew are out for blood. Run while you can!
Posted by: terminator | September 29, 2006 at 09:44 PM
terminator i couldnt agree more!!! i guess i am going to have to start calling everyone in the hallways in the capital terminator and see if i can figure out who you are during session!!! LOL!
Posted by: | September 29, 2006 at 09:49 PM
Terminator, you're entertaining but wrong. Pruitt's presidency will go significantly better than Villalobos'.
Then Atwater, and then Bennett or Alexander.

come on spt (socialist party times) it has been 24 hours since people here started asking why you held the foley storey from november 05 until now, 5 weeks before the election. if you were asking questions of a politican and he didnt answer you for over 24 hours you would blast them in your paper!! what do you have to hide? Are your communist party censors that you commonly call "editors" afraid to tell us the truth? Or are they all laughing this morning because they once again their political agenda is served at all cost?
Don't misunderstand me, what foley did was terrible. He deserves what he gets. But the actions of the spt (socialist party times) are ethically bankrupt. Stop with the yellow journalism and begin to uphold your responsibility to the public trust!!!!! Stop trying to be the arbitrator that deciedes whom to attack for political gain along with when and how!!! This behavior on the part of the spt (socialist party times) must stop!!!! You have a responsibility to report the news not to hold stories until they can cause maximum damage!!
The people of florida deserve an explination!! We are waiting
Posted by: | September 30, 2006 at 07:44 AM
Mark Foley was a sicko who deserves what he gets. Get over yourselves in tying this to republicans and Crist.
Governor Crist will be great for our state. He is up 10 points avg, and the longer people gripe and moan about this sick freak Foley, the longer Crist holds his lead.
All the better for us GOP's, especially since the cabinet races have the GOP leading as well, but by less points.

Thanks. Would love to know you but I'm afraid there's too many folks who (well), would like to see me "terminated"!
10:00
Are you sure about that? Can't wait for November's organizational session. It will probably be more frigid than February in Buffalo.

As long as Mark Foley is out of the picture, Joe Negron will be a natural shoe in just as long as Ralph Hughes continues to write him checks.
