Davis Ads Hit Airwaves Tuesday

Jim Davis has launched two new TV ads, paid for by the Florida Democratic Party. View "FCAT" here. And "Property Taxes" here.

The 15-second spots will be shown in Miami, Palm Beach, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Tallahassee and Panama City. They also feature Davis' running mate, Daryl Jones.

In a call with reporters, Davis denied he was too late to overcome Charlie Crist's advantage. "I think the folks who are going to decide this election are just starting to pay attention." He also played down the suggestion the short ads were a reflection of the party's fund raising challenges, saying they are "simple and direct" because the differences with Crist are simple and direct.

This is news? You have to be kidding. Who really cares?

Smart move. Jones is a great speaker and very telegenic. He is an asset to the Davis camp they cannot afford to waste.

Why doesnt Jim ever speak for himself?

hopefully Mr. Jones will add a bit of excitement and enthusiasm to the campaign.

Who cares !Jones is Rod on Steroids hes handsome honest thoughtful and a veteran .. not a chickenhawk republican..Hes the best thing this campaign has!

How do you spell p-a-n-d-e-r-i-n-g?

The general public does not vote for a candidate for Governor because of the LG nominee. That pick is usually solely for a targeted constituency, not the masses. Introducing "Col." Jones to the voters is fine, though, since the voters don't seem to keen on Jim Davis himself.
Given the recent polling, I will revise my prediction: Crist beats Davis by 15-20 points, and the GOP sweeps the Cabinet.

Jaguar,

I close to agree with you. I think Crist will win by 10-13 points, and the GOP will sweep the cabinet except the AG position. Im concerned about McCollum winning.

Mr. Jones and me, we're going to be big stars...

No news here. Davis ads always feature someone else

Are there ads? I had someone ask me if there was a Democrat on the ticket at all.

LOL wingnuts. I think thou dost protest too much. A tad worried are we?
Why don't you just slip those shorts off and put on a clean pair?

The problem has never been with Jim Davis (who is a great man) or Daryl jones (who was a great pick) -- it's never even been the issues - as the majority of floridians would agree with Davis on the FCAT, insurance etc. Jim's problem has been who he picked to run his campaign and the decisions they've made. As a result Florida might be the only state in the country that doesn't pick up Democratic seats. I hope they put that on their resumes when they leave the State on November 8th.
So Sorry Jim........

who cares.... Davis lost it by allowing Crist to be on television by himself for the past few weeks.

Davis will make up some ground and make this a 10% race but he will NOT win. This may help us in lower ballot races however.

I am so disappointed because as a Democrat, I thought we could pull it out. Now I am tempted to vote for Crist.

Not so fast this blog is BUZZING about Crist being ROOMates with Foley during their legislative years ..Crist must open an investigation now or cover his butt as this thing gets reseached..Hipocracy !

I know -- isn't it a shame. This guy really had a great chance to win. Everything from- who he is, what he stands for, what party he is in, the sentiment throughout the state and country- everything was on his side. Then he hired his campaign staff who has made these decisions. Again, they'll all just take their paychecks and leave the state on the 8th while we have to live with the mess.

I'm praying for them to find out that Crist was in the same chat rooms as Foley!

HMMM DID YOU ALL KNOW ABOUT CHALIE CRIST AND THE FACT THAT HE WAS A ROOMATE OF FOLEY!! CHARLIE THE DOOR IS OPEN"JUST COME OUT OF THE CLOSET"

Crist's DC fundraiser
Republican gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist made a brief visit to the nation's capital today for a fundraiser in his honor.

The $500-a-plate breakfast was hosted by a slew of lobbyists, prominent Republicans including former U.S. Sen. Connie Mack and the Florida GOP delegation.

House members in attendance included: U.S. Reps. C.W. "Bill" Young, Mark Foley, Katherine Harris, Jeff Miller, Mario and Lincoln Diaz-Balart. Sen. Mel Martinez was scheduled to appear but had to cancel at the last minute because of an appearance by President Bush at the Capitol.

The Buzz would love to tell you what actually happened inside the room on the 9th floor overlooking the Capitol but Crist does not allow reporters inside his fundraisers

Who is the crazy man in the ads?

Jim Davis on taxes...hahahahahahahahaha

Does Jim even have a tax cut plan?

NO!

Cristites have heard this before.

"I think the folks who are going to decide this election are just starting to pay attention."

this must be the same media adviser who dreamed up the helicopter ads.

Campaigns that can't afford normal 30 or 60 second ads buy 15 second shorties

Well here they are. See for yourself.

Short, sweet and to the point. Repetition, repetition, repetition. Every time you look up you'll be seeing Jim Davis and its Time for a Change.

The Issue: Does Davis have a clue?

The Answer: No

Dear Jim:

The issue is YOU--not FCAT, or Tax cuts.
But, on behalf of Repubs everywhere, thank you for running these two, 15 second spots. We thank you for taking the bait on tax cuts. We also look forward to hearing you explain to the voters your nuanced position of being in favor of FCAT for some purposes and against FCAT for others.

Whatever you do, please continue to refrain from introducing yourself to the 35% of likely dem voters who currently do not support you.

Those ads were nothing. People know Crist, even one of his ads he was railing that we had to use the FCAT to grade schools and kids. And no one is buying that Crist let peoples taxes go up so high.

If he wants the issue to be taxes, he will get CLOBBERED. These ads wont mean much.

For the 15 second spots, i bet they will be run together for one 30 second spot.

I saw that the ads will run in the markets of palm beach and miami among others. Do any of these markets stretch into Ft. Lauderdale?

i believe the miami markets touch broward

Zenator,

Excellent post! Careful not to hint too much, though! When your enemy is digging themselves a hole, hand them a bigger shovel!

The best advice Rod Smith gave Jim Davis and their "unity" meeting last week was to add helicopters in the background of his ads. Cool idea

How will two ads that are take offs on the Howard Dean-Rod Smither screamers make up for a deficit in awareness and support when no one knows you?
