Democrats: Negron Insurance King
That's what the Florida Democratic Party is calling Joe Negron, newly-minted Republican replacement for Mark Foley on the congressional ballot.
The party's press release notes a Ft. Myers News-Press story from August that showed Negron's short-lived bid for the Republican attorney general job was the biggest benefactor of insurance industry money among state House representatives at $82,800. The release also took a swipe at the five congressional members now embroiled in the Foley scandal.
"Just as the Foley Five put politics ahead of their responsibility to children under their supervision, Joe Negron has chosen campaign money over his responsibility to Florida’s homeowners," said spokesman Mark Bubriski. "For the Republican Party, common sense and the security of Floridians are too often trumped by politics."

"Last night, the U.S. House of Representatives voted on H.R.5637, the 'Non-Admitted and Reinsurance Reform Act of 2006,' a bill sponsored by Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite (R-Brooksville) and co-sponsored by Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-Pembroke Pines), that aims to improve the regulation of the surplus lines and reinsurance market. Jim Davis missed the vote to attend fundraisers in Florida." RPOF spokesman Jeff Sadosky adds: "This was one of Jim Davis’ first opportunities to help Florida’s small businesses gain an advantage in the insurance crisis, but he put campaign fundraising ahead of voting on his constituents’ behalf."

some great shoes to fill, joie!!
ABC: Foley sought in person dates with children he was cruising
So now the other shoe drops. Not only did the GOP cover-up of a child predator since at least 2001 lead to the serial sexual harassment of numerous children, but now we find out that Foley tried to arrange what were clearly in-person sex-dates with children. (And from the sounds of the communications below, he may have already consummated one such rendezous.)
I want to hear Denny Hastert and the other members of the Republican leadership say that they had NO IDEA that Foley had a problem with being too close to the pages. I want to hear it. Because they knew.
From ABC News:
In addition to explicit sexual language, former Congressman Mark Foley's Internet messages also include repeated efforts to get the underage recipient to rendezvous with him at night.
"I would drive a few miles for a hot stud like you," Foley said in one message obtained by ABC News....

....."Consider at least one Democratic voter turned off by the growing rancor between Jim Davis and Rod Smith: Freddie Pitts.
Pitts is one of the two Miami men who years ago was convicted of a murder they didn't commit in a racially charged case in the Panhandle. As a former state lawmaker, Davis once opposed compensating Pitts -- who was ultimately pardoned -- "...
Reached at home, Pitts said he still doesn't buy Davis' explanation that there wasn't enough evidence that he and Wilbert Lee had been deliberately wronged by the judicial system."....

Smith, Davis trade barbs for TV

Good. The more they call him SOMETHING, the more they bring attention to him. That's what wins elections.

Mahoney will be the all-time loser. Losing to a deviant he helped to out to bolster his otherwise non-existent chances of getting elected AFTER the guy has resigned and pulled out and AFTER maligning his successor...
GO JOE NEGRON!

COMMENTARY - Jim Davis, Social Darwinism
By June Maxam
August 31, 2006
It's unclear why the San Jose Mercury News in California is endorsing a Florida gubernatorial candidate, especially one who has the second worst voting record in Congress since running for Governor.
It appears that campaigning is more important to Jim Davis than representing his constituents.
He's a hollow man, too scripted, wavering whichever he perceived the wind is blowing,

I did not recall seeing Mahoney in any of the messages
what does he have to do with trolling for boys
the R's are really sick
putting Party over Childern, GOd, and County
On Nov. 8th we can put these thugs in prison

The FDP made a big mistake even recognizing that there is a candidate to replace Foley. They should not even dignify Negron's presence in the race.

So Charlie has been in the AG office every day for the last two years tending to AG business. Get a grip. He's out there campaigning too. I bet that Davis showed up more in DC than Charlie was in Tally tending to Ag business.

7:41 I disagree with you. Negron is for real. I actually think voters will quickly figure out that Foley is not on the ballot and not running. They will get a certain number of anti-Foley protest votes, but they will still have to beat Negron.

Mahoney is the skunk who sought the boy in the original "overly friend;y" e-mails. By so doing he created a news story and that shook loose other information in the form of the boy with the very incriminating IMs.
He will get his when NEGROM beats him like a drum.

As long as Mark Foley is out of the picture, Joe Negron will be a natural shoe in just as long as Ralph Hughes continues to write him checks.

Latest Rasmussen poll (last one had Crist up 5 points)
Crist 54%
Davis 38%
Undecided 8%
This poll was taken after the Foley incident, and did not affect Crist as I predicted. Davis is all but finished. Read it and weep liberals.

what does the insurance industry in florida and joe have in common?
they are both screwing with the people of florida and causing turmoil.

republicans so desperately want to elect another business-as-usual corporate toadie. they blather on about stem-cell research bans and flag-burning, while our insurance rates are sky-high. we need governmental leaders, not sunday-school teachers.
