Foley Is Gay and Was Molested
Former Congressman Mark Foley's attorney said in a press conference that Mark Foley was molested by a member of the clergy, when he was the between the ages of 13 and 15.
Also:
"Finally, Mark Foley wants you to know that he is a gay man," his attorney David Roth said.
Roth prefaced the confessions by saying they are "no excuse, whatsoever for his misconduct."

It took Betty Castor long enough to help Alex Sink:
Dear Friends,
I am urging you to help my friend Alex Sink, Democrat for Florida's
Chief Financial Officer.
Sixteen years have passed since I was elected statewide -- the last
time a Democratic woman won a statewide election. Alex needs to break
that record because she is clearly the best-qualified candidate for
CFO. For those of you not familiar with this important race, CFO is a
new position created in 2002 combining several cabinet positions into
one. Now there are only four members of the Florida cabinet --
another important reason to have Alex representing Florida taxpayers.

Foley has attorney disclose his molestation, but then says it is not his excuse.
then why in the hell is he telling us about it? and now he's going to tell us that he's gay? duh doofus.
Posted by: | October 03, 2006 at 06:22 PM
So foley is gay and it is the Churchs fault. Looks like these foley is trying every excuse in the book to see which one people buy, yesterday it was alcohols fault.

Soemthing to really think about - this guy was for the war.
Wonder how the families of the 13 killed in October - yes, the past three days - feel about this pervert sitting in DC and playing sexy iT games while voting on war issues?
Send the sick SOB to Iraq and let him fight his demons there!

""no excuse, whatsoever for his misconduct."
then why have we heard about your priestly (he went to catholic schools) problems? What does that have to do with YOUR SEXUAL PERVERSIONS? threatening the youth of this nation?
hey Republican voters - feel safer yet?
you not only vote in incompetents, but liars, cheats, thieves and now also known SEXUAL PREDATORS - and the leadership COVERED IT UP!!! Way to care about the the party before the country and WE THE PEOPLE.

Yesterday: Alcoholism.
Today: Molested by clergy.
Tomorrow: Alien abduction, or Severe Lactose Intolerance?
Get working on another good one, Mark.

what's next? oprah? or have a lifetime movie??

Mark Foley is a monster and should be in prison.. PERIOD
Posted by: | October 03, 2006 at 07:27 PM
Perhaps if the republican party and the catholic church were more tolerant of homosexuals, Mr. Foley wouldn't have to choose between his congressional seat and developing a relationship with a male closer to his age.
Posted by: | October 03, 2006 at 07:45 PM
First Alcoholism. Then homosexuality. Now sexual abuse by a clergyman. What next? His parents spanked him? Didn't love him enough? Television compelled him to do it? Foley is full of it and will continue with these ridiculous excuses when he is the only one to blame.
Posted by: | October 03, 2006 at 08:04 PM
don't buy Foley's excuses about alcoholism and being molested but at least he's fessed up and finally admitted he's gay. He should do at least a couple of years in the slammer.
However, on a positive note (for him) recognizing your problem is the first step to solving it.
I'm sure the guy went through hell and back trying to conceal the truth from the general public for years freaking out someone would find out and spill the beans.
Now his worst nightmare has turned into reality but at least the truth is known. Like Martin Luther King once said "free at last, thank God almightly, free at last".
I wonder if there are any other prominent Florida politicians in Foley's shoes??????
Posted by: terminator | October 03, 2006 at 08:23 PM
Mark Foley might actually enjoy prison now that its confirmed that he is gay...
Posted by: | October 03, 2006 at 08:25 PM
Termie,
You know better than to insinuate Crist. Do I have to mention it 1,000 times that Crist is a non-moral womanizer, and I have 2 women who dated him in the 1990's to prove it. Come on.
Posted by: | October 03, 2006 at 08:30 PM
fess up Charlie - now is the time for all secrets to come out in the open so we don't have to worry about state/national SECURITY from irritated exlovers.
didn't charlie and teh SEX PERVERT used to LIVE TOGETHER?

Now perhaps it is becoming more clear with how this group rewards its members for destroying the country: Pervert for underage boys - promotion to Chairman of watching out for underage boys, Environmental despoiler - promotion to Chairman of environmental protection, let 911 happen - promotion to Chairman of joints chief of staff, on and on and on...if you are a Republican and care about the country then now is the time to stop being manipulated and see how absolutely and totally corrupt this current group is and how they are rewarded for looking out for an agenda that does not include any of us. Vote them all out.

I believe you. I've heard he may go both ways. Having worked in Tally with TG and CC, I know all too well the rumors.
He certainly is a riddle wrapped in an enigma. Are you saying he did father a love child with O'Dell-Townsend?

Actually, I'm average size. It's not the size of the stick my friend, it's the magic of the wand!
Posted by: terminator | October 03, 2006 at 08:53 PM
nice try michael. The DC republicans have only done fair at best, but I vote for the lesser of 2 evils, and the dems would be a nightmare. We dont need to become Europe, high tax high social program terrorist appeasers.
The FL republicans (not Foley) I give at least a B+. We have a great economy, graduation rates rising, tax cuts for 8 years with a surplus.
Posted by: | October 03, 2006 at 08:53 PM
According to Foley's lawyer at the press confrence - guess what?!!!
Law enforcement HAS NOT contacted Foley or his lawyer AND
Law enforcement HAS NOT seized his computers.
Wait - I thought the FBI was investigating? I thought Florida was checking into this? Where is Charlie Crist? Isn't he still the AG?
Posted by: | October 03, 2006 at 08:54 PM
Termie,
Oh lord, do we have to go there. Please no. And no, I am not saying he fathered that child. I have no idea on that one, but he does fancy his women very much so.

graduation rates rising but our kids our graduating with almost the LOWEST national scores on teh SAT .... graduation without being able to qualify for college or having to take lots of qualifying classes before going for actual credit.
do your homework please - this state is out of control - housing too high, homeowners being raped by insurance companies, our schools are failing, the number of bankruptcies and foreclosures are astronomical, and the jobs are leaving the state.

Imadashell You sound like you think being gay is the same as being a sexual predator. Are you really that bigoted, prejudiced and ignorant?
Posted by: | October 04, 2006 at 08:02 AM
Imadashell & Mills:
According to my Florida sources, it is defamation to knowingly republish false sexual accusations. Shame on you. Your ends do not justify your means.
Unless I am mistaken, you hold yourselves out as Democrats, the party that supports "gay rights" in its national platform. Yet, you are willing to stoop so low as to seek to gain political advantage by falsely accusing someone of engaging in conduct that your party supports.
Please go look at your selves in a mirror and see who is staring back at you...

Sorry. I am not that zealous. This is just a blog, although one that is read by political insiders, SPT reporters and others. I only took umbrage because the material was clothed in the false mantle of a news article. Beyond expressing my opinion regarding the practice, I have no desire to take or suggest further action.
Besides,I generally enjoy reading Imadashell's posts, because they represent an expression of a legitimate perspective.
I also found humor not long ago in Termie's ranting that "Charlie is gay" because the author was just having fun baiting the Cristie's as opposed to asserting a supposed fact.
Posted by: zenator | October 04, 2006 at 09:17 AM
Did anyone else see Scarbough last night? They mentioned that the Miami Heraldless and the St. Pete Slimes both knew about the story months ago. Hmmmmmmmm
Posted by: | October 04, 2006 at 09:22 AM
The only people who did not know he was gay were the voters who are not involved in Tallahassee politics and closely tied to Federal politics. The average shopper at Publix on a Saturday morning had no idea!
Posted by: | October 04, 2006 at 09:24 AM

Hog wash on Foley being molested by the Churh excuse.. He could have come forward, collected some law suit money and sought help when the sexual abuse stuff hit the fan years ago. He kept quiet because he liked what he was doing and only is now sorry because he got caught...Shame on any politician who knew and covered for whatever reason.. Foley should have let the pain cross through his head before wanting the pass it on to other kids- kids like our politicians once were. It makes me sick to think that our children mean so little to our elected officials. Foley could have been stopped quietly, if that's what our cowardly officials needed to do and then WATCH him, threaten him and make him shape up. The only ones I am sorry for is his family. Could he not have at least thought of them? Go away Foley and go away any other official that has a secret life. I hope any others are sought out and exposed and our kids can Page and be safe and experience the thrill of public service!
A mom

9:25, Troxler was set to write that story in anticipation of the revelation. The SP Slimes is as dirty as Foley himself. Most of their editorial board drink red wine, and spit it out all over their pages… (NPI)
Posted by: | October 04, 2006 at 10:06 AM
Check out where and who Foley has been contributing to.
His secret was well known and it was used against him - he "paid" aka contributed to keep his secret out of the press and his back (pun intended) protected by other Republican leadership figures.

Ron,
I didnt listen to that posting, nor did i care, just like the stupid postings on Crist too. As long as you admit that your posting and the article on that web site is a complete lie, then I have no outrage.
Democrats are getting really desperate since Crist is winning so big, that they are now lying about anything to try to get Crist to lose.

to my credit I don't think I ever actually said he was gay.
more just subtle humor to liven the debate up.
I guess it worked, as I'm revered or reviled by many on this blog.

Mac, one of the fab 3, is a jerk and most of tally would agree. If Charlie wins, Mac will be at the helm of this state. Very scary?
Posted by: | October 04, 2006 at 12:00 PM
Hey Terminator the twit: Mac and Zenator are one and the same. By now Mac has probably triangulated who you are, but I doubt if he really gives a damn about such an insignificant douch as you. Your rantings define your persona, and there are not many people around Tallahassee with your abundance of arrogance and ignorance. You would be easy to find, probably at Clyde's, sucking up to anyone and anything you can. But who really cares who you are, little Mr. Bigshot? You are obviously not a player.

Can Republicans get anymore repugnant?
A blogger is vowing to reveal the identity of one of the boys Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) communicated with, we have learned.
William Kerr of Passionate America has pledged to divulge the information at 4 pm Central Time today, October 4. He also plans on discussing the boy's identity on his radio show.
A press release issued by Kerr seems to quietly argue that the boy is not a private person, twice indicating that the information was discovered among publicly-available material.
other news organizations have been aware of the identities of some boys involved in the scandal since first receiving the now-famous emails. Some even failed to redact one boy's email address from the messages published. None have, as of yet, deliberately identified any of the boys involved.
Posted by: Ron Mills | October 04, 2006 at 12:35 PM
I do not care if Charlie does win
he really is not as bad as most Republicans
I would just not be happy with all the extremist he would bring with him.
his first choice as in Lt. Governor was a example
Posted by: Ron Mills | October 04, 2006 at 12:39 PM
Being gay is one thing, being a child molester is another. I do not support either but there is a difference
Posted by: | October 04, 2006 at 01:23 PM
OK Foley acted wrong. He was a predator. Now he has rsigned. The authorities are investigating and justice will be done. What possible excuse is there for keeping this nonsense alive further?
Posted by: | October 04, 2006 at 01:30 PM
This entire issue serves to prove that we cannot rely on politicians, registries, government agencies, religious leaders, or anyone else to legislate morality and safeguard our children. That responsibility should sit squarely on the shoulders of us,as parents. We should, at all times, know where and with whom our children are. I, personally would never let my teenaged son or daughter work with Washington politicians on a daily basis. The Foley incident, I firmly believe, is only one of many inappropriate incidents of varying sorts to which pages risk being exposed. As for Foley, let him now experience the criminal justice system "up close and personal"!

As in Mac's words "that was a bonafide bug eyed rant".
Man you must really hate me. You must be Charlie or one of his "boys".
Relax chap, the election's over and you guys won. So why all the vitriol?
I must really be yanking your chain hard. That is good.
Yeah, I do suck up at Clyde's alot and Paradise and Cafe Cabernet and Paradigm. You'll see me there come session.
Don't think Mac is Zenator though. Zenator seems like a really nice guy. Thought Mac was Shadow.
Mac is smart and knows his stuff but he didn't seem that nice on the blog.
Maybe he likes me now. I know he hates TG, so guess he hated me cause I worked for TG but that's over now so can't we just be friends?
No, I don't think he could care less who I am but don't think he's a big union hater since his old boss (Martinez) used to run the Hillsborough teachers union.

Ron:
I did not take offense at the Pitts payment rumor any more than I toolk offense to the rumor that Charlie roomed with Foley etc, since they were identified as being rumors as opposed to being presented as news stories.
I, perhaps, foolishly believe that we should all accept certain basic ground rules and then blog away to our hearts content...
