This says so much more about Mandy Dawson than about Rod, Jim, or Charlie. She is job hunting for two years from now, pure and simple.

More Florida Baptist crap from Harris
HARRIS GOING TO HEAVEN
Some day all of us have to give an account before God for what we have done. Are you certain in your own heart that when you come to that point of accounting that you'll spend eternity with God in Heaven? Yes.
HARRIS DISSES BLACKS AND OTHER MINORITY GROUPS
Do you support civil rights protections on the basis of sexual preference? No. Civil rights protections should be based upon individual rights not group rights.

PRESS RELEASE FROM JIM DAVIS
I remember all my life
Raining down as cold as ice,
shadows of a man
A face through a window
Crying in the night
The night goes into
Morning, just another day
Happy people pass my way
Looking in their eyes
I see a memory
I never realized
how happy you made me oh Mandy
Well you came and you gave without taking
but I sent you away, oh Mandy
well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today, oh Mandy
I'm standing on the edge of time
I´ve Walked away when love was mine
Caught up in a world of uphill climbing
The tears are in my mind
And nothing is rhyming, oh Mandy
Well you came and you gave without taking
but I sent you away, oh Mandy
well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today, oh Mandy
Yesterday's a dream I face the morning
Crying on a breeze
the pain is calling, oh Mandy
Well you came and you gave without taking
but I sent you away, oh Mandy
well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today, oh Mandy
You came and you gave without taking
but I sent you away, oh Mandy
You kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you
Oh Mandy won't you listen to what I've got to say
Oh Mandy don't you let me throw it all away
Oh Mandy won't you listen to what I've got to say
and I need you today, oh Mandy

Im sure the liberals will just say that she like all the other well known democrats supporting crist, is nothing but a repug faking being a democrat, but is actually not.
If every democrat politician that supports Crist is not really a democrat, there are hardly any democrat legislators in Florida at all.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 10:08 AM
I woman with Crist? That's not right.

Uncle Tomette
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 10:24 AM
Isn't her endorsement really helping Davis?
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 10:25 AM
I am disappointed in Rod Smith's leadership. If he can't influence his former supporters to be loyal to Democratic values and to helping our party regain equality in government, then he isn't the kind of candidate I would ever support in the future.
I heard people who were more familiar with state politics than me question Rod Smith's commitment to the Democrats. I'm afraid we are now seeing his true colors. Last winter, he pledged to work for party unity. If he can't influence his supporters to remain loyal to the party then I will never be able to trust his leadership.
And I'm sick of talk about bipartisanship. I don't want Democrats working with Republicans on policies that are damaging to me and my family. I'd rather see Democrats stand up and fight for us than capitulate for the sake of "getting along."
Posted by: Susan S | October 26, 2006 at 10:26 AM
It is going to be a long few years for a few of these folks when Jim pulls this out.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 10:28 AM
Susan you can't really put the blame on Rod Smith. This is a grown woman making up her own mind. period.
The question to ask is "why is SHE supporting a Repub rather than a Dem"? What does she think that Charlie will do more democratically than she thinks Jim would?
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 10:33 AM
10:33am,
Yes, I certainly can put this on Rod Smith. It's about his leadership and his ability to influence people. Since the primary, his support of Davis has been lukewarm at best and that sent a powerful message to his supporters (and staff!) The behind the scenes grumbling has also been perpetuated by those close to Smith. He could have and should have put a stop to it.

D versus R, Red versus Blue… it’s a load of crap. There isn’t a dimes worth of difference between them once they’re in office. They’re nothing more than self-serving, egotistical, unethical, corporate and special interests owned punks.
We play around with the whole us versus them baloney, not them. That’s exactly what they want us to do and think. For Christ’s sake, we haven’t elected anyone into office since the inception of the computerized voting systems. How freaking moronic and malleable are you people.
We shoot men into space and back, we build bombs the size of a suitcase that can level ten city blocks, we put a Tonka toy on Mars to drive around and take pictures… and you actually believe that we (the people) have any control over who gets elected?
Our “elected” officials are nothing more than corporate appointments via a computer code. Wake up people, and stop being so damn gullible.
Posted by: Reality | October 26, 2006 at 10:44 AM
Susan,
I am disappointed in Jim's leadership! He was very petty in his victory speech and offended Rod, and most of Rod's supporters.Davis doesn't deserve our support, but because he is the Democratic candidate, we'll be holding our collective nose to vote for him.
Calling Rod and his supporters 'betrayers of the Democratic Party', is a crock. You sound like W when he calls people nonpatriots for questioning the war.
Get over it. You're lucky so many of us are supporting Davis at all.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 10:45 AM
Mandy has two years left in Senatorial career before she terms out, all she is doing is thinking about her life after politics.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 10:48 AM
Hello sunshine! Having a bad day are we?
If you think we have such an awful state, move to Mexico.
Posted by: ConservaGal | October 26, 2006 at 10:49 AM
Susan,
Why not ask yourself why a democratic state senator would endorse the republican over Davis - maybe she has serious concerns about his civil rights record.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 10:49 AM
10:28
Keep smoking the crack pipe, we will talk on november 8th.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 10:51 AM
As a Broward Democrat in District 29, Mandy has been a WASTE as a "Do-Nothing" Senator. She has no power or "pull" in the community and her endorsement won't mean in thing in Broward County. We havene't seen her do anything or even show up, but when she does, she supports someone from another party.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 10:52 AM
Rod Smith is the one who decided to dance with the devil. When it didnt work out, he took his ball and went home.
Susan, you keep fighting the good fight. With people like you out there working your butt off, we will take our state back!
I cant wait to see Dawson come crawling back after Jim wins this.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 10:59 AM
These term-limited state legislators are looking to jump on the bandwagon to line up fat state jobs in the executive branch. Five years and they can double their pensions plus have health insurance for life. Crist will need a couple of token agency heads. Mandy Dawson, Sec of DCF, sounds good, no??
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 11:00 AM
10:52, if she's a do-nothing Senator who never shows up, then she should relate well to Jim Davis. Two peas in a pod.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 11:01 AM
Mandy is probably supporting Crist because she believes he is gay and a liberal.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 11:01 AM
"Petty in his victory speech and offended Rod and most of his supporters" ???
Please! Get over your ego and figure out what's important here. You're living in a Democratic state (by party registration) with no Democratic representation in government. Any Democrat who doesn't see the big picture needs to go back and read "Crashing the Gate" again.
Posted by: Susan S | October 26, 2006 at 11:02 AM
Turn coat RAT..she is GaY
Posted by: Imadashell | October 26, 2006 at 11:05 AM
Susan, at least acknowledge that while democrat registrations outnumber republicans by 3%, 39% to 36%, about 10% of those democrats have not voted democrat in over 20 years, and are very conservative. That makes this a republican leaning state. Slightly of course though.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 11:06 AM
crist is gay and a social progressive.
that's okay with me.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 11:07 AM
I rest my case.
Posted by: Reality | October 26, 2006 at 11:08 AM
Reality, i can see you wandering in the desert ready to drink the koolaid after michael moore in a few years.

ConservaGal
If the Democrats had their way, there would be no need to move to Mexico.
They'd just bring Mexico to us, one illegal at a time.
But then, we'd just be called California.
Posted by: moderate | October 26, 2006 at 11:11 AM
Is Mandy off probation yet? Has she read Charlie's plans to crack down on probationers?
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 11:12 AM
Obviously, Mandy is not over her addiction to pain pills.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 11:16 AM
Susan,
Some of us dedicated Democrats have standards. You and other nasty Davis supporters are one good reason we have failed to elect a representative government in the state of Florida, the last 8 years.
Grow up and keep your bee-atchy little comments to yourself. We have enough challenges without you pointing fingers at Rod and his supporters, because some senator decides to support the opposition.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 11:17 AM
11:06am,
What I'll acknowledge is that due to gerrymandering, many Democrats haven't had any chance at representation for the past few election cycles. If they've voted Republican, it's because there wasn't a Democratic candidate in the race.
Posted by: Susan S | October 26, 2006 at 11:20 AM
Would anyone even want Mandy Dawson's endorsement????
The woman's a pill popping former welfare queen who got elected by ghetto constituents down on Sistrunk Blvd. in Ft. Lauderdale.
She's never accomplished a thing during her run as "state senator" and is totally clueless.
Not to mention all the days and votes she has missed in the Florida Senate due to her "illnesses".
Posted by: terminator | October 26, 2006 at 11:23 AM
Termie,
You mean her neck surgery?
You sound a bit racist. Is this the kind of leadership we have in the teacher's union?
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 11:25 AM
11:10, you’re right, sorry. Hey, did you hear that 4 out of 5 dentists recommend Crest? Lets line up for a tube!
I’m not at all fond of Moore. I am fond of reality rather than perception. After the November elections, I want you to do a little something for me.
1. Clear your mind of all partisan emotions.
2. Read a book on computer science and logarithms.
3. Ask yourself this question after reflecting on the past year of “exposed” corruption, payoffs, scandals, lies, cover-ups, ect… How in the hell did the incumbent win, and how could we endorse by vote “business as usual”?
Don’t allow you mind to be manipulated by the framing of “conspiracy theorist”. Indeed, there are many, but don’t use a broad brush in you analytical thought process. Just focus on common sense deduction… think about it.
Posted by: Reality | October 26, 2006 at 11:29 AM
This endorsement comes down to one thing $$$$$$. Mandy sold out to Crist because he was the highest bidder.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 11:32 AM
BANG-O-RANG, 11:32!
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 11:38 AM
Nonsense, Mandy will make a great Secretary of ACHA!
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 11:38 AM
If Crist is going to call Davis on him "not being at work" then I would not brag about Mandy Dawson. Her record is horrible. Session is only 60 days and many of years she can barely muster enough dignity to attend 3 committee meetings.
When you expect her not to be at work she is, when her brother died a few years ago, I expected she would be in her district, but no, she was out in Tallahassee shopping and eating at what was then Manna.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 11:38 AM
Reality, each person is an individual, not a signal of the whole party. When people take bribes, throw them out and charge them, when people sexually harass pages, throw them out and charge them.
Scandals are only if people are proven to know the absolute extent of a problem, and knowingly cover it up, that is barely happening, but if it is proven throw that person out.
Charlie Crist has nothing to do with any of these things.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 11:39 AM
11:25
I call it "reality"
Everyone knows Dawson is a complete joke.
Someone like her getting elected to office goes to show that single member districts aren't the best way to get the most qualified candidates.
It all boils down to racial politics. "We'll vote for someone like us" even if they're as pathetic as Dawson.
Can you honestly tell me one thing she's accomplished during her time in Tallahassee?
Posted by: terminator | October 26, 2006 at 11:40 AM
terminator,
Be honest with all of us and tell us who you are voting for. I am guessing you are so pissed that your boy Gallagher did not win that you are voting for Davis.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 11:43 AM
Let's all move to Mexico and send money back to the United States! Oh wait, there isn't any money in Mexico.
moderate - Recently, I was watching Pat Robertson (by the way, he has a great comedy show on at around 11 pm on the Family Channel) and he was saying that we need the Mexicans in this country to take all those jobs that Americans don't want. I had no idea Pat Robertson was a Democrat. Thanks for clearing that up.
Posted by: politicalspectator | October 26, 2006 at 11:46 AM
11:39, what is your point?
Posted by: Reality | October 26, 2006 at 12:02 PM
Count them Dems: 11 days to go til your defeat.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 12:19 PM
still mulling things over
I do like Charlie personally (even after all the grief I've dished out).
Keep in mind part of that was just campaigning, part was good humor and maybe a little nastiness due to BREC's hatchet job on TG.
I like Davis more on public education but not the rest of his platform.
Will have to continue to consider all the ramifications.
Posted by: terminator | October 26, 2006 at 12:25 PM
charlie crist desperately needs a "beard" wife right now. any of you republican ladies ready for a sexless political marriage? charlie needs you ladies, but not for the icky thing.
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 12:43 PM
Isn't that what Hillary did for Bill? Did Monica have a brother?
Posted by: | October 26, 2006 at 12:53 PM
Get ready, lunchtime is almost over! The cubicle-jockey bloggers will soon return from Taco Bell to attack all of you on behalf of their respective candidates!
God I love American Democracy… I’m enlisting so I can go to the middle east and force it on them right now.
