Murphy stepping down as DEC chair
Janee Murphy, chair of the Hillsborough County Democratic Executive Committee, says she will step down after three years when her term expires in December. “I’ve accomplished what I set out to do,” Murphy said, which was helping reestablish the “Democratic machine.”
Murphy, the state party secretary and a member of the Democratic National Committee, said she now hopes to establish a statewide political organization aimed at getting Democratic women elected, similar to the national group Emily’s List. She said she also intends to work on other efforts to support and mentor minority women interested in politics, and to create a statewide caucus for young Democratic professionals

Should be: Murphy quits HDEC again.

Mike Murphy has been mailing it in for years.
He must've quit because the press had stopped covering his role or another big loss is just around the corner.

she is a loser who has compromised our dem elected officials! so the county had to suffer with her as chair, she knows the game. ..so lets out them here...and shame them for being so stupid...and hope she can find something else to do...besides move to tampa and destroy the party.
chris smith....how you doin?
maddox? you killed yourself off!
miller? your wife should clean your clock!
sanchez? how dissappointing!
why would they put you up for posting on the buzz? to see who would have the courage? just go to the courthouse and look up the divorce. she sure knows the game...thanks janee for showing us how stupid our dem leaders are...oh and first thank the buzz..for inviting the "typelashing"

hahahahahahahahahaha.........what machine has she built?...hahahahahaha.

Leave her alone, you conservobots. The Hillsborough Dems' organization is far from perfect; but she gave it her all and tried her best to build a better party at the grassroots level.
So what have you conservobots done for the Hillsborough Republican Party lately? Oh, I forgot--nothing except post on a useless political blog.

11:43, Might I suggest Windex as a cleaner for that glass house you live in?
I hear Murphy and Helm are going to start a regional Party of thier own.

yeah, but has she already selected her successor?

There are a couple of names floating around. The names look like the party could go with the old guard and alienate the younger members, or turn stride and go with a younger board.
Just watch the back stabbing start after the election.

To bad Scott Ferrel won't run for DEC chair. He has the vision and know how to turn the party around.

Ferrell for DEC chair

Manaboutit
Thank you bob keenan for posting on the blog. Are you still upset that your power grab did not work and now you are trying to rebuild all of the bridges you burned.
We all know you want the DEC chair position.

11:54,
Ummm, I'm an active volunteer and card-carrying member with the HCDEC; so I don't need no stinkin' Windex.
:)

Regardless of what is said, Les Miller would be the best for DEC Chair.

I don't think so:
Go from Minority Leader in the Senate to DEC chair; here is my list of possibles:
Sally Phillips
Tom Squires
Monroe Mack
Kirk Sander
Bob Keenan
Susan Smith
Al Giraud

Kirk Sander for DEC Chair!
Posted by: | October 13, 2006 at 02:56 PM
Maybe MIchael Steinberg should run
Posted by: | October 13, 2006 at 02:57 PM
Joe Redner would be the best pick for the D's in Hills...
Posted by: | October 13, 2006 at 03:07 PM
Susan Smith has got my vote! Oh wait, I don't live in Hillsborough!
Posted by: Gene Smith | October 13, 2006 at 03:27 PM
Adam Smith has my vote!

Susan Smith would be an excellent chair. Bob Keenan? No way. He's the weasel who got talked into filing the complaint by the faction who never got over losing the DEC chair election the first time.
The old guard never really knew how to campaign hard to win elections, because they've been coasting on the habit of voting Democratic and buoyed by South Tampa DINO money.
Janee could have been more draconian in enforcing discipline. But nobody has worked harder than she has, and nobody has had to put up with as much griping, complaining, backstabbing, and sheer bad faith as she has.

Janee Murphy had one goal: Doing what was best for Janee Murphy. For all her talk, when push came to shove, it was all about Janee and her drama queen antics and not so much about actually, you know, winning elections.
IF she actually follows through and quits, it'll be the best thing to happen to Hillsborough Democrats in years.

Anon 4:42, spoken like a true sour grapes loser. How many times did you stand up in a DEC meeting and actually, you know, offer to lend a hand for the greater Democratic good? Or are you just content to become a factory for producing excuses about why we don't win?
We Democrats will never win until we all want to beat Republicans more than we hate each other.

You have my full support Janee Murphy even though I am way down in the "Magic City" that is Miami, Fl. If there is anything I can do to help I will.

When my wife and I first joined the DEC we were very supportive of Ms. Murphy. Unfortunately, as many people learned, she turned out to be unimaginative, self-centered, and vindictive. Monroe Mack's and Tom Squires' dedication and commitment to the Party should have been shining examples for her.
