Poll: Sink, Cambell leading
The new St. Petersburg Times poll finds Democratic chief financial officer candidate Alex Sink leading Tom Lee 41 percent to 35 percent, with 24 percent undecided. Democratic attorney general candidate Walter "Skip" Campbell leads Republican Bill McCollum 41 percent to 36 percent with 23 percent undecided. Story is here.

Wishful thinking. Go Tom!!!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 08:39 AM
Go Alex!!!!
Go Skip!!!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 08:55 AM
Once again......
THE TIMES contracted a democrat campaign firm to write a poll for them and had a republican pollster make calls to a specified sampling to obtain the desired results.
Is that the best ya'll can do?
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 09:07 AM
Put a straw hat and a pair of overall bibs on McCollum and you have a mean version Mr. Green Jeans. No on wants Mr. Green Jeans as the state's top lawyer.
Put a pair of high waters on Lee with a piece of straw in between his chicklets teeth and you have Jethro Clampett. No one wants Jethro Clampett negotiating with the insurance companies.

Do Eng and Cnang count as one vote or two?
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 09:43 AM
I am so sick and tired of democratic pollsters trying to sway the opinion of Floridians with these phony polls...the only "poll" that matters is the one on November 7th...Tom Lee, the most qualified man for the job, will be this great state's next CFO!!!!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 09:43 AM
To 9:19....if you have somthing interesting to say, say it.
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 09:44 AM
GO TOM LEE!
GO MCCOLLUM!
ONWARD TO VICTORY--BOTH OF YOU HAVE FOUGHT AN HONORABLE FIGHT...WITHOUT DECEPTION...UNLIKE YOUR OPPONENTS!!
SINK AND CAMPBELL WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HIDE FROM THEIR EXTREMELY LIBERAL PASTS FOREVER!! TRUTH ALWAYS PREVAILS!!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 09:46 AM
9:19-
You are pathetic! Get off these blogs...you are bringing down the intelligence level immensely!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 09:47 AM
believe what you want to...dream a little even but I hate to tell you Tom Lee will walk away with the win for sure!!!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 09:47 AM
Alex Sink is a wolf in sheep's clothing...how dare her clothe herself in conservative ideals...she is a PHONEY!!! Plain and simple! Smart Floridians should rise up against this liberal woman and see her for what she really is...a woman who has donated to this country's most LIBERAL Congressmen and Congresswoman(take a look at the reports of Hillary Clinton, Cynthia McKinney, John Kerry-the list goes on)...she takes her daughter to march on Capitol Hill in support of abortion rights and is NO FISCAL CONSERVATIVE!!! Please do not let this woman come to Tallahassee and permeate our state with her liberal ideology!!!
As a mother, I do not want this woman to be a role model for my girls!!!
Please take the time to research this woman, as I have, and vote your conscience.

Sorry for the double post just then...I am new to these blogs.
Have a great day!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 09:58 AM
why not just ignore 9:19. this is exactly the same reason that the dems have given negron a boost by fighting the polling sign issue. they should have just let it go and no one would have noticed it. sutpid stupid stupid.
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 09:59 AM
Bank of America charges the little guy big time under the leadership of Sink!! BOA known for supporting fees for you to have the privledge of putting your money in their bank???? Is that what you want for the citizens of Florida?? Read the small print..... a vote for Sink is a vote for you to pay fees for EVERYTHING!!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 09:59 AM
Do you want the Bank of America running your insurance in Florida? Sink will add fee after fee on your insurance just like BOA does when you bank with them. That is the Sink mentality. The number one dog at BOA when they initiated the fee to use the ATM!!

and as a mother I do not want this lady in office either at all, the public really needs to see her for what she is and know that a if she won she has her foot in the door for other possible positions in the future..wise up Florida

Give it up!!!
This is a POLITICAL race..I want someone who will NOT raise taxes, who is PRO LIFE, who is PRO BUSINESS and someone with a CONSERVATIVE ideology to be the CFO of our state-and that candidate is CLEARLY TOM LEE...not ALEX SINK who is decieving this state with her false persona!!! Get your head out of the clouds and focus on the political issues, istead of gossiping about someone's personal life...you and 9:19 should hang out...you are both pathetic!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 10:05 AM
9:57
I AGREE!!! WISE UP FLORIDA and do not let this woman into office! You should be ashamed of yourself Alex Sink...you are a phoney! You are not a fiscal conservative!! Never have been and never will!
I also agree that people need to see the big picture...Sink does not just aspire to be our CFO, she has bigger plans...do not let her get a foot in the door!!! It would be a major step in the WRONG direction for Florida!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 10:07 AM
10:05
thats all they can blog about is gossip with no real knowledge of anything they are very very stupid!!!!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 10:08 AM
Alex Sink, a rich Dem who will tax and spend and who has a history in business of adding fees to everything.
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 10:09 AM
who cares about pro-life. i want my taxes and insurance reduced.
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 10:09 AM
I CARE ABOUT PRO LIFE--the same way most conservative republicans do!!!!!!!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 10:11 AM
screw prolife. choice gives it to you anyway. i want my taxes and insurance to go down. women should control their bodies, not the republicans. Jesus was not a republican.
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 10:13 AM
drop the personal insult and stick to the real issues. Who will be the better CFO?
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 10:17 AM
10:12 and 10:13 is the same person...and I feel sorry for you...quit casting judgement and making statements you dont know to be true!!!
I can assure you that Sink is not in favor of lower taxes..she will RAISE them, make no mistake about that!!!!! She is pro tax!!!!!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 10:17 AM
10:14 boy that is grasping at thin air. you should be ashamed of yourself for making up stuff.
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 10:20 AM
10:13
I do care, and I see the big picture if she should win(which I doubt) it is a spring board for her and there is no way I would ever want her representing me with her disgusting values!!!
TO Me the taxes I dont want raised but the moral issues do matter and Tom is pro life , dont be stupid and think women dont care about that if so you are fooling yourself. Dem and Rep women care get that through your think skull.
GO Tom enough said:)
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 10:22 AM
DROP THE PERSONAL STUFF ALREADY!!!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 10:26 AM
You are all going to Hell for your scurilous attacks.
Lee and Sink are both good people who want to serve. The CFO can't raise taxes. A look at qualifications, and it's obvious who is the best candidate.
This poll was done by a rebublican and a democrat. If you don't like the poll result, go work for the candidate you want to support.
Posted by: God | October 28, 2006 at 10:34 AM
The hurdle for going to hell is a lot steeper than posting rantings ona blog.

Both candidates are ethically sketchy.

CFO Tom Lee Nov. 8th!!!!!!!!!!!
AG Bill MCCollum Nov. 8th!!!!!!!!!!
good try SPT.

Where are you people living? Try to list the elected politicians in Tallahassee who are not adulterers. Start with the Gov. Very short list indeed.

also remember BELIVEING IN JEAUS CHRIST DOES NOT MAKE YOU PERFECT BUT FORGIVEN!!! you all cant wait to pounce on someone who believes in Jesus and screws up, we are all human get that ..human the difference is there is forgivness in HIM..but you dont get it you are not the JUDGE of Tom Lee, and he is the better candidate by far.
GO TOM LEE I can not wait for you to win, becuase I cannot take these blogs a whole lot longer with such hateful judgemental people on them
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 02:27 PM
There are more quacks on this blog than I would have thought possible. I have a suggestion for some of you. Spellcheck!!!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 02:29 PM
I would never want Alex Sink representing me ever, for the reason being of her beliefs are far left and that my friend will not fly and that is the truth!!! Once in the door look out for her... I hope and pray that will not happen and that Tom Lee wins.
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 02:30 PM
This got way too personal way too quickly.
I don't see conservatives turning out for this election like they have in years past, for there doesn't seem to be a candidate or issue that will push them to the polls. Crist is winning the Governor's race through independent voters, not conservatives. There is not any evidence out there showing independents leaning towards Lee or McCollum in large numbers, which makes me think these races will be close. I say McCollum wins the AG race because of name recognition and Sink becomes CFO because her ads are pretty good and she has appeal to female voters.
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 02:36 PM
2:36
all I can say is I hope you are wrong as far as the CFO race, becasue she truly is misleading the public with her ads coming off as a conservative which we all know she is not, I hope the Tom Lee campaign is counter acting those ads because they are pretty convincing I saw my first one yesterday, what a pack of lies.

.......
Good news for us. However I really like Tom Lee too - but at least one Democrat on the Cabinet is needed to provide for more challenging debate on the issues and to allow for more accountability, like good quotes when some on the Cabinet do stupid, unwise or unethical things.

Skip Campbell is a courtroom lawywe not a hack!I will make a deal..Lets do a mock trial on a complex legal issue and each side gets a lawyer.GOP gets Mc Collum..Dems get Skip//The jury is the average middle class ...I pledge 10000 to the Jeb bush pres campaign fund if Mc Cullum wins ..Its like geo forman vs a feather weight...NOT even close on qualificatin.Skip made has fortune representing FLORIDAS FARMERS who were devastated by Dupont..Ill vote for that guy any day
Posted by: Imadashell | October 28, 2006 at 02:53 PM
Alex Sink is conservative in finance and budget. There is a difference between conservative fiscally and conservative in other realms of political thinking.
I want someone in office who is conservative with my hard earned money. Alex will win.
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 02:53 PM
Sink Swims!!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 03:03 PM
Alex McBride will have fun in Tampa with her husband Bill Sink while Tom is the new CFO
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 04:05 PM
Sink will be sunk...GO TOM LEE!!!!!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 04:59 PM
You are being fooled if you actally think Sink is a fiscal conservative...check her record, it speaks for itself!!!
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 05:01 PM
Why is Alex Sink so afraid of her past???
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 05:02 PM
Yeah, McCollum has more name recognition. But that name recognition comes with the realization that he's an empty suit and a hand puppet for the same jokers who thought Tom Gallagher would win the primary.
McCollum came across as a grand inquisitor in impeaching Clinton for his lecherous behavior in office... never mind that presidents of both parties have done the nasty in the White House.
Bush deserves impeachment more than Clinton ever did, lying us into invading Iraq and removing the one thing besides Israel that was keeping Iran occupied.
The voters knew that impeaching Clinton for screwing an intern was over the top, which is why the GOP lost seats in Congress in the 1998 midterms. And McCollum is the most visible local face of that impeachment.
Posted by: Chris W | October 28, 2006 at 05:03 PM
Chris W, Just a thought, Maybe Gallagher should have won the primary, Because Charlie stands a good chance at loosing this thing... considering he's single, and I am sure you know the rest of the rhetoric on Charlie so I won't bother writing it?????
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 05:07 PM
I'm so sick of conservative pollsters (see AIF) trying to sway the election. Thank you for conducting a balanced survey of Floridians conducted by pollsters from across the political spectrum.
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 05:15 PM
Sink is a fiscal conservative. Her record is just that. You will spin it the way you want, because that is your job. You are the only fool if you believe anyone is buying it.
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 05:27 PM
Here is the choice. You vote for someone who looks like Jethro Clampett or you vote for competence and experience.
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 05:40 PM
McCollum looks like Mr. Green Jeans.
He is also the most arrogatn, self-absorbed and mean spirited person running for state office. Campbell will win.
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 05:44 PM
It was Jethro Beaudine, not Clampett. Jed was his uncle.
Posted by: Zhombre | October 28, 2006 at 06:33 PM
Charlie Crist is more like Barney Frank than Jeb Bush. The only difference is that Barney Frank is honest enough to have come out of the closet, while Crist is still hiding. Don't be fooled by the (R) next to Crist's name on the ballot. Fellow Evangelicals, we much elect a good Christian man, Jim Davis, to be our Governor, not a phoney, liberal Charlatan named Crist. God bless.
Posted by: James | October 28, 2006 at 06:50 PM
I just saw Crist's negative ad criticizing Davis' "empty chair" for the 179th time. What about Crist's empty chair in the Attorney General's Office up in Tallahassee? Crist has missed more work the past 18 months than Davis, while both have been on the campaign trail.
Posted by: James | October 28, 2006 at 07:30 PM
Hey James-
This discussion is about the CFO race, not the Governors.
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 07:50 PM
James is not a real person --- he is a computer program, like the Agents from the Matrix movies, who is programmed to post this crap on the internet. He is leaving his trail of slime like one of the aliens from Men in Black all over the St Pete Times Buzz.
Posted by: Zhombre | October 28, 2006 at 08:38 PM
Alex Sink will be our next CFO because people can trust her ethics and commitment to FINANCE. It just so happens she is running against the most disliked Talahassee insider, making the win all the more sweet. You GOP bloggers are feeling particularly fierce today... getting nervous?
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 09:13 PM
The most disliked Tallahassee insider?? Why would Lee be that?
Posted by: | October 28, 2006 at 09:45 PM
Don't be fooled by the (R) next to Crist's name on the ballot. Crist is 50 years old, was married once back in 1979 for 6 months, has no children, and he has never owned his own home. So Charlie Crist has never paid property taxes or home owner's insurance premiums. Talk about family values, Crist has no idea what family values are. Crist is a career trial lawyer, who flunked the Florida Bar Exam twice. Crist's running mate Jeff Kottkamp is also a career trial lawyer. In fact he currently works for "Morgan and Morgan", the largest ambulance chaser law firm in Florida. These are all facts that are verifiable, and I encourage you to research them yourselves before you vote. Crist's campaign has spent $30 million, financed by special interests, to distort Jim Davis' record with negative attack ads, while fictitiously portraying Crist as being a "for the people" Ronald Reagan Republican. Fellow Evangelicals, and all other wonderful people of Florida, we must elect a good Christian man- Jim Davis, to be our Governor; not a phony, liberal Charlatan named Crist. I hope you all will carefully consider everything before you vote in the race for Governor, and not just vote along party lines. Some things are more important than partisan lines, such as the future of our beautiful state. God bless.
Posted by: James | October 29, 2006 at 12:55 AM
IF THE TIMES IS TRYING TO SWAY AN ELECTION TO THE DEMOCRATS...THAN WHY DO THEY ALWAYS SHOW CRIST AHEAD?
GO ALEX, SKIP, AND JIM!!!!!!
Posted by: kev | October 29, 2006 at 10:07 AM
Go Alex, Tom "Jethro Clampett" Lee is toast. Divorcees never win.
Posted by: | October 29, 2006 at 02:49 PM
All you "choice" women declaring a right to do what you want with "your body"- get this - Your fault is that you refuse to admit (for obvious rasons) that the dead baby is not YOUR BODY. You can slaughter the innocent and defenseless, but your justifications are a hallow sham. Abortion is that greatest disgrace of this country. Too bad you can't abort yourself and leave your baby alone. Life and death is more important than taxes.
Posted by: | October 29, 2006 at 08:18 PM
I'm voting for Tom Lee. He is the one qualified for this office. He deserves to win. He will be our next CFO. GO TOM LEE!!!!!
