Alex Sink, Newest Democratic Star

Alex Sink emerged Tuesday as the newest star in the Florida Democratic Party.

The chief financial officer-elect not only broke the Republican monopoly on the Cabinet. She ran well ahead of Jim Davis in many important places, which is not easy to do in a down-ballot race. She also beat Republican Tom Lee in a string of conservative rural counties across the state's northern tier -- places that usually vote Republican in statewide elections.

Sink got 6,000 more votes than Davis in Miami-Dade, 7,000 more in Broward and 13,000 more in Palm Beach. (Of course, another way to view the numbers is that these are Democrats who chose Charlie Crist for governor over Davis). Sink outpolled Davis by 25,000 votes in Pinellas and 10,000 votes in Hillsborough. (It's worth pondering: What would have happened if Sink ran against Crist?)

Sink also captured these counties: Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Jackson, Levy, Liberty, Madison, Putnam, Suwannee and Taylor.

Everyone loves a parade, and apparently everyone loves the circus too.

She is a fake and she knows it..the thing is the people are about to find out and they deserve what they get!!!

Sink had a great pitch for the anti-partisan crowd: vote for someone who knows finance, rather than a party hack, to keep an eye on the state's finances. Tom Lee tried to sell "experience in government" but what people saw was "Tallahassee insider."

She would have never beat Crist. She won mostly from her financial background, which is superior to Tom Lee's.

Gene, come out come out from wherever you are.... Are you assisting Davis in his unemployment application?

someone get Tom a metric size beer to cry in....

She really does seem to be a natural, and while I agree she wouldn't have beaten Crist IN THIS CYCLE(virtually no one could have), I wouldn't dismiss her as a viable gubernatoral candidate in the next four to eight years.

I told you all, all along that she was hot!

McCollum as AG scares me a lot more than Sink as CFO. Alex will do a great job for Florida. With McCollum, we have just elected our own John Ashcroft!!!

What Republicans right now are licking their chops getting ready for their own CFO runs? Rubio? Negron? Victor Crist?

For he who had a Hand in the campaign, congratulations on a job well done! I'm really looking forward to the good things I know Alex will do here in Tallahassee for us. We're lucky to have her here at DFS.

Yay Alex! :)

'Ye insurance lobbyists beware: you were with the wrong guy....you had your companies pump all that they could to Tom Lee, but even all that soft money could not save you from what you are about to experience.

Yeah... now you'll have to give all you money to Sink. She'll take it too because she's a politician... so there, take that!

I think she is James Carville's long lost sister and you think she's hot???

Pruitt should run against Sink in 4 years

McCollum will thing he is governor.

Is Tom Lee Asian? He looks Asian. He has chicklets for teeth.

Thank God for Florida.

RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman outed as gay on CNN's Larry King Live.

Tally Lassie:
I second that. Accolades to Hand...both for a great victory and for putting up with the candidate for all those months.

Alex should have been the Dem candidate some may think, but I think she is exactly where she needs to be - watching over Charlie and the Jeb gang of crooks left behind. Alex knows how to manage. I'm sure there are great things ahead for her at a national level if she so chooses. The GOP domination in Florida and in Hillsborough especially is akin to the mafia - however even that will fall apart. PS - o my word...who has the courage to admit they voted for Rhonda Storms? Were you born before the Civil War?
