Campbell concedes in AG's race
The third time's a charm for Bill McCollum, who will replace Charlie Crist as attorney general. Democratic state Sen. Walter "Skip" Campbell has conceded, and McCollum, is about to go on stage at an Orlando victory party.

McCollum's going to bring sexy back to Tallahassee.

This was the only Republican win I was really upset with.
Didn't like Crist, but he's tolerable enough for me to bear with him for 4 years (and none more).
McCullom, on the other hand, will forever be tainted by that whole holier than thou horse and pony show known as the Clinton impeachment. It's a shame to see someone who has no respect for the law like that take the position of the chief legal officer in the state.
Whatever. In 2010, Sen. Dave Aronberg is going to tromple over McCullom and he'll take his rightful place in the forgotten dustbins of history.

Those "forgotten dustbins of history" have just enough space for your banal post and miserable personality.
Your eye, you might want to wash it out. There is a little spit in it.

Painful Truth--
Bad morning for you, isn't it?

Not at all. Very pretty from where I'm sitting. Too bad so many others are seething.

A blown opportunity by Campbell. He waited to long to go on TV, and could have gone just negative enough, to occupy the center. He was the more centrist candidate here, but the people(at least in the I-4 battleground) never had a chance to find out. Crist was pragmatic enough to figure out what worked for Butterworth as AG, and incorporated enough consumer advocacy into his agenda to etch his reputation for populism into stone. McCollum will be a very disappointing followup to both.

In my younger, more foolish, days, I worked for the D who opposed McCollum during his first run for office. Y'all remember that one? It was where he pledged to serve only three terms. The campaign slogan should be "Bill McCollum, after 20+ years in politics, still a two-faced liar."

11:39--I think you are right...McCollum will pale in comparison to past AGs. Butterworth built up the office as an excellent consumer advocate, and to his benefit Crist continued that theme (possibly to preen himself for governor, but honorable nonetheless). I don't see McCollum in those lines.
He'll probably focus more on the "crime and punishment" aspect of the job, with the emphasis on the punishment part. Which means he'll probably advocate for more "tough punishment" policies, which often sound great but actually are pretty ineffective when it comes to crime.
