Cross-over endorsements in HD 52
In what may be Florida's most competitive swing state House District, 52 now represented by Frank Farkas, both Democrat Bill Heller and Republican Angelo Cappelli are touting support from the opposing party. Cappelli has a new mailer including glowing comments from Pinellas teacher Sally Baynard, a "lifelong registered Democrat" whose father Bob Pfeiffer was "Mr. Green Devil at St. Pete High."
Heller's mailing includes endorsements from some prominent Pinellas Republicans: County Commissioners Ronnie Duncan and Susan Latvala, Pinellas Park Mayor Bill Mischler, and St Pete council members John Bryan and Leslie Curran.

Guys you are killing me. Lets get something that people care about. Have you called TG like everyone has asked you too? Come on Editors of the SP Times. You guys are suppose to be the best and answer the questions we have. after reading the blogs it seems like their is an overwhelming majority who want TG to run a write in campaign. Just call and ask him.

Charlie Crist will be our next Governor. Most don't understand that this debate was not for the decided Ds and Rs partisans, that post on this blog, it was for the undecided I's and crossovers that saw a clear and friendly leader and communicator in Crist and saw a complainer and as one respondent put it "whiner without his own ideas" in Davis who kept following charlie's lead and started ever statement with "and Charlie Crist". The independent feedback from the non political partisans was that they liked Crist. Now those people dont post on blogs and are not usaully contacted by the media so you dont get their feedback. For those that track these post debate responses that talk to a cross section as I do it was very surprising that those that fall into the undecided or Independent block so strongly favored Crist post the debate. Many I'm sure will spin away, and many of these folks are likely responding purely on partisan emotion, but from my analyses, Crist will maintain or open his lead and will win.

Sally Baynard is Angelo Capelli's campaign manager's mother. Give me a break!

I think I'd take Heller's list over Cappelli.
I wonder how Crist is going to vote here?
Posted by: | November 01, 2006 at 07:00 PM
Cappelli is imploding. He was already in trouble before he decided to go to the nutty professor card. Now he is toast. Heller by 10, maybe even more.

I haven't necessarily loved all the Heller ads (seem a little low-budget), but it seems to be a well-run campaign. Plus, it is nice to see the state democratic party come in and really enough money behind a candidate to help them win, rather than giving them just enough to lose by less. Despite what all the Helm people say about her, Karen Thurman has done a nice job in this seat. Winning this one and the Justice seat would give her a good starting point towards building a democratic base in Pinellas.

Are you kidding me - Heller has Republican County Commissioners and City Councilmembers, while Capelli only has his campaign manager's mother?!
Posted by: | November 01, 2006 at 07:45 PM
His campaign manager's mother. Angelo, thanks for the only laugh I've had today. But don't worry, it's almost over. In just a couple of days your political career will be over before it started.
If you had it to do over again, would you? I guess not. Certainly not against Bill Heller.
Posted by: | November 01, 2006 at 07:54 PM
That's what Capelli gets for being so dishonest. :)
Posted by: | November 01, 2006 at 07:55 PM
To Angelo: Where's that tough talk. Remember the: "If Heller wants to get in against me, I'm going to bring everything." Did we just see "everything?" Your campaign manager's mother.
You should have stayed out of this, Angelo.
Bill Heller has taken you to school. Learn your lesson.

Go here and listen to the "New Times Outs Crist" audio link from South Florida's Newstalk 940 AM this morning. It's a 50,000 watt station, reaches Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Melborne, Vero Beach, Naples, Ft. Myers, etc.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the Cappelli campaign is always about three steps behind Heller's? I mean, sometimes it seems like Muggsy Bogues trying to dunk over Shaq.
Cappelli "I'm a moderate"...Heller "Read your own Christian Coalition survey"
Cappelli: "You are a taxer"...Heller: "so you opposed something passed by 70% of area voters"
Cappelli: "I have two Democrats who support me"...Heller: "Yeah, and I have every Democrat that matters---as well as pretty much every Republican that matters too."
Try again, Angelo???

Angelo is mailing a piece with his campaign manager's mother? Seriously. So, let me get this straight. The only endorsements he can get, he has to pay for?
Nice campaign, Angelo.

Wasn't Angelo Cappelli talking about being Speaker?
Posted by: | November 01, 2006 at 08:54 PM
Isn't Heller like 75 years old? Regardless, he's sure better than that Cappelli hut case. Just wondering how old the guy is.
Posted by: | November 01, 2006 at 09:20 PM
I think he is 69 or 70.
Posted by: | November 01, 2006 at 09:32 PM
If Capelli could barely beat Ross Johnson without attacking with lies and distortions how can he even begin to think he can beat Heller?
Posted by: | November 01, 2006 at 09:49 PM
Speaker Angelo?
Hardly.
Angelo was only looking for another job. Doesn't he get a new one every couple of years?
But that next job won't be in the state house.
Going to have to look elsewhere for that new job, Angelo.

Hey 9:49 -Barely beating Johnson? Almost 30% is barely.

Did Davis Miss One Important Vote?
Posted Nov 01, 2006 at 09:07 PM
Updated Nov 01, 2006 at 09:24 PM
Charlie Crist has been accusing Jim Davis of missing votes in Congress, and Davis has denied that he missed any where his vote would have made a difference.
But tonight, there are indications that Davis missed one vote important to Democrats—the 2000 presidential race.
In response to a question from the Tribune Wednesday night about his voting record, Davis, reached on his cell phone, didn’t answer, instead referring a reporter to his campaign press spokesman.
A few minutes later—in fact about 10 minutes ago—the campaign called reporters to inform them of a Davis campaign conference call to held at 9:30.

Angelo- How's it feel to have fewer Republican endorsements than Bill Heller?
Heller really is the real deal. A leader that crosses partisan boundaries and builds bridges.
Admit it, Angelo, that's not you. Your Christian Coalition questionnaire showed us all who you really are.
Try as you can, you can't run from it.

Here's an op-ed column from the website of The Florida Times-Union newspaper in Jacksonvile (Jacksonville.com). I think alot of Consevative Christians will find this quite revealing about Charlie Crist. I must say I was shocked by the bluntness of this article, but it pretty much lays it all out. I encourage everyone to read this.

Chairman Dimatteo needs to punish these folks. They are agianst his hand picked guy, Angelo. This is another slap in his face, after his other chosen candidates lost like Bo Michael and George Brown.
The Pinellas Republicans are becoming irrelevant and we will soon be in the majority here also.
Go Davis/ Heller!
Posted by: | November 02, 2006 at 09:47 AM
Angelo Cappelli loses my vote. He is dishonest in business and an arrogant twirp. He deserves to lose and can't hold a candle to Bill Heller.
Wheres all that bravado now Angelo?
Posted by: LOYAL GOP VOTER | November 02, 2006 at 09:50 AM
Heller is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. You bonehead Dems only think you’ve got someone on your side. The GOP doesn’t really care which one wins; we have our guy either way.
GO HELLER, GO CAPELLI… GO REPUBLICANS!
Posted by: | November 02, 2006 at 09:59 AM
9:59 - Since you say it doesn't matter. You might as well vote for the winner, Bill Heller.
Posted by: | November 02, 2006 at 03:57 PM
9:59/Norm/Liz/Ed-- Isn't it time to get over it? Heller was the better candidate on Primary Day and won; and he is proving to be the better candidate against Cappeli. Go Heller!
