How long til the Vice President Crist speculation?
Charlie Crist on Tuesday emerged as the newest, bright light of a beleaguered national Republican Party. Now the freshly elected political powerhouse in America’s biggest battleground state must put to rest a mystery.
Who is Governor-elect Crist? He's a national figure without any real identity, a winner with no clear agenda or ideology. More here.

Does this mean Charlie's already auditioning for VP with McCain?
One news article pointed out "if" he completes his four year term, it would be the longest stretch for GOP governor's in Florida history (twelve years).
Do they know something we don't know???

Bush/Crist '12.

Crist will not bite at that apple. the chances of the republicans winning in '08 are miserable. he would have to resign to run, I beleive.
By 2012, Crist will be the Presidential candidate himself.

Thank god for the Democratic Sweep in the US House.
Maybe some Constitutional Checks & Balances can be restored…
The last few months of the Republican controlled Congress brought us a Constructional Crisis.
Yes those fumy Republicans eliminated Habeas Corpus!
You know that funny little Latin word that protects us from being “Disappeared” &
Sent off to be “legally tortured” in secret prisons without access to an attorney!
Thank GOD some people in America have woke up!

Habeas Corpus, R.I.P. (1215 - 2006)
With a smug stroke of his pen, President Bush is set to wipe out a safeguard against illegal imprisonment that has endured as a cornerstone of legal justice since the Magna Carta.
The above was joyfully
brought to you by the 2006 Republican controlled congress!!
Thank GOD for the Democratic Sweep that took place yesterday!!!

Governor-elect Crist is instantly a national player!

Minions, all of you. You actually think something changed yesterday. No wonder this country is so screwed up.
Ok, it’s been fun. Now get back to work, you have bills to pay, and they’re not going to get any smaller. And by the way, your paycheck isn’t going to get any bigger.

9:26 -- The 12th amendment to the U.S. constitution provides that presidential electors shall meet and vote by ballot for president and vice-president, "one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves."

Republicans don't care about the US Constitution!
Even George W Bush called it, and I quote, "Just a G*d Damned piece of paper"

Bush/Crist is unconstitutional. The Presidential & Vice Presidential nominees must be from different states... this is why Cheney moved back to Wyoming when he was selected in 2000. He had been living in Dallas while working for Halliburton.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss...

As if the Constitution was ever a consideration for the Bush's. Get real. If a Bush/Crist ticket is what they want, a Bush/Crist ticket is what they'll get... by God. For Christ’s sake we elected Bilirakis, and allowed Habeas Corpus to go away.
Oh yeah, we’ll stop them.
BTW, absolutely hilarious politispec, absolutely hilarious… and so damn true.

Crist as President could happen, we have had a gay President before.... Remember James Buchannan?

9:29, the Florida resign to run law doesn't apply to running for federal office, and while I know CC has a track record of not serving serving the maximum possible time in any of the offices he's won I'd be surprised if a VP run developed IN '08. I believe the R's might put a full court press on Jeb(as a candidate and administrator he's always been more credible than W), if Florida is in play for the D's. Also consider Juliani for Veep, as a way of putting NY in play for the R's. This either delivers that state, if Hillary is not the nominee, or otherwise substantially consumes Dem. resources. As regards CC, all bets are off beyond '08 for either Pres. or V.Pres. He really needs a successful term as Governor to properly position himself to run; the way he did to get to this point.

I wish Charley the best. He is really hard to dislike and has the same quality of his hero, Ronald Reagan. Having said that, I would call attention to the fact that Florida is to national poltics what Maine is to College Football, we do not, have never and will not certainly with the likes of Charley produce national figures. It is just the reality.
Florida voters are all sort of mildly retarded, the culture down here is mordant and opaque.
The press down here -I would call them intelligentsia but this is Florida- may have given Governor-Elect Crist a free ride but the single, likely gay renter will never survive the white heat of national press scrutiny which would accompany any prospective ascension of his star to the national stage.
Look, what is Florida. It is a state of retirees, angry Cubans, and displaced emigres from more competetive parts of the nation who want to be left alone, party, suntan, make easy money, scam, wife-swap, avoid church, watch college football and go to the Mons Venus. We do not have one top flight university and we are in every appreciablee aspcet s u b s t a n d a r d except for fishing and drinking. We live contentedly with horrible public education, malignant crime and non existent social services. Arkansas and South Carolina can get away with a third world level of society, but we are the fourth largest
state. We cannot touch New York, California or even hell Texas (at least them cowboys can spell).
We are a joke and our selection for Governor sadly confirms that.

are you 100% sure of the resign to run law?
Posted by: | November 08, 2006 at 11:25 AM
Crist must have at least one very productive term, forget '08. 2012 is a real possibility though.

It's the return of the Nixon Republicans.
Nixon said veer as far to the right as you have to in the primary and then own the center for the general.
Reagan said the GOP wins when they emphasize their conservative principles. Gingrich followed that, as did Jeb.
It appears that this election is a marked reversion to the Nixon Republican political methodology.

11:25-- Yes, I'm certain.

Crist has promises to keep that we will be watching.
1. Lower property taxes
2. Lower cost insurance
3. Locking up probation violators
He promised to do all of these without raising taxes. Good luck, Charlie.

WHAAAH WHAAAH. For those of you idiots that are glad that the liberals won, I gurantee 2 things. Taxes will rise. We will be in recession within one year. Then I guess the media will tell you how great the economy is. Start saving your money now!!!
Posted by: Tony Culpepper | November 08, 2006 at 12:36 PM
Then again, if the Repugnants had won… Taxes would continue to lower for the rich, white people, and the poor people would be put to death in Iran. Start saving your body bags now!

If Crist becomes President, who will be the First Dude?
Posted by: | November 08, 2006 at 01:27 PM
he's a gay - speculation over
Posted by: | November 08, 2006 at 01:36 PM
Charlie Crist is gay? Damnit, why wasn't I told about this...
Posted by: | November 08, 2006 at 01:54 PM
Well I'm rich. Due the fact that I worked hard & dont have to rely on the goverment to pay my bills. I'm the one who pays most of the taxes that get turned into wellfare checks so that you can pay your internet bill in order to continue to rant on these blogs.

Ummmmmmm, yeah, ok. If that helps you compensate for your short comings, then I guess I can live with that.

RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman outed as gay on CNN's Larry King Live.
