In Pensacola, Davis lashes out at Crist
Jim Davis went after Charlie Crist in the heart of the latest controversy - Pensacola. Here's what he had to say tonight before nearly 200 people at a Allen Chapel AME Church.
"I heard you all had a guest here today (boos). I'm not the candidate who was invited to that event. Do you realize Charlie Crist has been campaigning standing up with George Bush this entire campaign? Next to the insurance industry, George Bush has probably raised more money for Charlie Crist than anybody else. But now that the president is so remarkably unpopular, once again Charlie Crist refuses to stand up. Friends, the reason I am here is next time if we suffer a hurricane in this state, we do not need a governor who moves in direction the wind blows. We need a governor who stands up for what he believes in every day.
"Charlie said he couldn't join the president in Pensacola because he needed to stay and campaign in Florida. (Loud laughter; Davis shakes hand to show he is serious). "I'm running against the former education commissioner who doesn't know when the FCAT was given. I'm running against a guy who doesn't know who his own member of congress is. And I'm running against a guy who doesn't think Pensacola is part of Florida.
"Charlie Crist should have been here today because there's only two people in the United States of America right now that want to stay the course: George Bush and Charlie Crist."

Ah Jim. If you had only found this voice a month ago. Might be too little too late, though I think it will be close.

and the little mouse said squeek squeek squeek but by now he had lost any hope of winning the cheese ...

If Charlie pissed off enough hard-core Republicans, they may just stay home tomorrow - and that could be the difference in what will likely be a very very close race.

While we all want Jim to win we won't wallow in despair if it doesn't happen legally. Sometimes you just gotta take one for the gipper.

Blah, Blah, Blah...... 200 people, wow, what a crowd.
He would be better off shoring up his base in Dade than wasting time in redneck country.

This is a very smart move by Jim Davis. This visit and his remarks will be covered in Pensacola--if not on the evening news, it will be in the paper tomorrow--the Pensacola News Journal, which has endorsed Jim Davis for Governor.

Are you stupid or just plain dumb.
Davis showing up is like Cindy Sheehan shwoing up at a Bush rally. Just filler. No real story there.
Posted by: | November 06, 2006 at 08:36 PM
wait I'm confused - CRIST DIDNT SHOW UP?
Posted by: | November 06, 2006 at 08:39 PM
Crist did not show up, that is why Davis did
Posted by: | November 06, 2006 at 08:42 PM
Once again, Charlie Crist refuses to stand up. Does this guy believe in anything other than getting elected to the next office?
Tomorrow the voters in Florida will decide if they want a man who will stand up for Florida's families or a guy who refuses to raise his head until he knows which way the wind is blowing.
I want to take this opportunity to say that I am personally very proud of the campaign that Jim Davis has run. He has stuck to the issues and his message. The message of change for the better versus stay the course is what is going to win this election for Jim Davis. Jim's vision that we can do better for Florida's families is the one that will resonate with the voters when they stand in front of the voting machine tomorrow.
The people of Florida know that there are real problems in this state. Jeb Bush remains personally popular but he has left us with:
1 - A property tax crisis.
2 - A property insurance crisis
3 - Despite his sincerely best intentions, he has left us with a failed education sytem.
These are the things the families in Florida want to see changed. Charlie Crist's message is to stay the course.
Jim Davis message is that we can do better. We will do better when we elect Jim Davis Governor tomorrow.

I agree that Bush has saddled us with an insurance and property tax mess. Neither gubenatorial candidate offers much.
Davis doesn't show up for work. He has missed many votes and ranks as the second worst voter in Congress. He claims he was campaigning. That is BULL SH**. There are 434 other members who were campaigning too.
Davis has a tendency not to show up for work, at least Crist will show up.

I MISS THAT FRIGGIN' CHAIR. WHAT HAPPENED TO IT? I HOPE IT SHOWS UP AT THE POLLS TOMORROW.
Posted by: | November 06, 2006 at 09:20 PM
I'm a hardcore conservative and I can't beleive the choices we've got. Pathetic! I remember 2 years ago, Crist was more than happy to share the dais with the President on the election trail...I don't care enough anymore, I'm flipping a coin...
Posted by: Reggie Claypoole | November 06, 2006 at 09:21 PM
Crist hasn't been in the AG tally office in a year and a half. He has shown up for Cabinet meetings... appeasing Jebby... Other than that bigger no show than Davis could ever be, why the Dems didn't hit on this??? amazing.....

WAS THERE AN EMPTY CHAIR FOR CHARLIE IN PENSACOLA?

A national Jewish Democratic group Monday called on Republican gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist's campaign to end its advertisements attacking Democrat Jim Davis for a 2002 meeting he held with Yasser Arafat.
The ad, which is running in South Florida, accuses Davis of having met "with terrorists and communists''
Posted by: | November 06, 2006 at 09:51 PM
The 527 ads hit their target with a thunderous boom. Many Evangelicals will not be voting for Crist in the Panhandle. Keep this in mind Crist staffers. Crist botched his last chance to win this election when he snubbed our COMMANDER IN CHIEF after inviting him. God has answered my prayers and devlivered strong thunderstorms to the Panhandle tonight and Tuesday to help seal the deal. So this is Davis' election to lose as far as I'm concerned. God bless you all.

Once again, Jim Davis is an idiot. D's, you could have done better. Us with half a brain know how lucky we are you didn't choose Rod Smith.
You've shot yourself in the foot with your liberal picks- Davis, Sink, Campbell. Are you kidding me? A guy that doesn't show up for work, a pro-abortion tax-raising liberal, and a broward county democrat?
Rain or shine, it's a clean sweep tomorrow...

was Arafat not a terrorist?
are the Cubans not communists?
did Jim not meet with both?
truth hurts
Posted by: | November 06, 2006 at 11:38 PM
Rumsfeld met with Saddam in the 80's when he was one of allies in the region and y'all don't think he's all that bad for some reason.
So Davis met with Arafat to urge him to do whatever he urged him and the same thing with Castro. How about Dick Greco meeting with Castro? Bill Richardson meeting with Kim Jung Il. Does that mean that Dick Greco is a communist collaborator? Is Bill Richardson an inch away from the nuclear button and hell-bent on destorying the Western world? What about John Bolton, the Ambassador to the UN. He sat in the same room as quite a few war criminals and we don't hear about him being evil.
The ad is stupid and does not accomplish anything but making an already nasty cycle even worse. Charlie Justice hates babies and wants mandatory pedophile day in your public schools. Charlie Crist once kicked a puppy. Kim Berfield is a Scientologist. Bill Heller plots day and night about how to raise taxes.

Kim Berfield IS A SCIENTOLIGIST. That is a fact.

One more poll before election day.
Crist 54%
Davis 42%
Not sure of the accuracy, but it says the same thing as every other pollster. Crist will win.

Politics as usual, blue dog, politics as usual... and your boys are just as guilty. You all are hypocrites and you all suck. None of them will do one-damn-thing to help anyone.

Rob, Maybe, but she’s a HOT scientologists!
KIM WINS!

Dick Greco meeting with Castro was travesty...as was his wife, who urged the Monsignor to 'bless the president'. Neither does Greco nor any other American have any business going over to Cuba and legitimizing that oppressive totalitarian regime. Terrible, deplorable, awful choices.
