Pioneering politician Mary Grizzle dies
Mary R. Grizzle, one of Pinellas County’s most successful politicians, died Thursday (Nov. 9, 2006) at her Redington Beach townhouse. She was 85.
Mrs. Grizzle, the first Republican woman elected to the Florida Legislature, had been ill recently and in failing health, according to her family.
.

Don Sullivan killed her. He was so mean.

Good country club Republican. A throwback to what the party was about before the religious right got a stranglehold on it. Rest in peace, Grizzle.

A fine woman regardless of Party affiliation. God Bless.

I also was fortunate to meet her many years ago. I'm very sad to hear of her passing.
A pioneer, truly.

It brings back memories of how well she and Jeanne Malchon used to work together.
I would hope that we can find some of that bipartisan, community leadership again.
Our sympathies to her family for their loss.

Mary Grizzle was the kind of Republican
who believed in protecting the environment and providing equal rights
to women. I don't understand how that went out of fashion. I miss old fashioned Republicans.
