Schiavo politics, part 89

Michael Schiavo calls Charlie Crist "coward" who was basically awol during the Terri Schiavo debates, while Crist said his silence and lack of activity from his office spoke loudly of his opposition. Now Schiavo's attorney,  George Felos, has written an op-ed piece arguing that Crist  "played a critical role in Florida’s state-sponsored violation of Terri Schiavo’s constitutional rights."

this blog entry is a corrected version of an earlier entry that incorrectly suggested Jim Davis didn’t vote in the 2004 election:

Charlie Crist has been accusing Jim Davis of missing votes in Congress, and Davis has denied that he missed any where his vote would have made a difference.

But tonight, there are indications that Davis missed one vote important to Democrats—the 2000 presidential race.
In response to a question from the Tribune Wednesday night about his voting record, Davis, reached on his cell phone, didn’t answer, instead referring a reporter to his campaign press spokesman.

A few minutes later the campaign called reporters to inform them of a Davis campaign conference call to held at 9:30.

Voter records accessed by the Tribune Wednesday night indicated that Davis has voted regularly in elections except 2000.

We’ll update you as soon as the conference call is over.

Susan Fox is a highly regarded appellate attorney. She is former president of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, and the recipient of numerous pro bono awards. She is active in numerous organizations in our community and she has spent a great deal of her time trying to make it a better place for all people. No one who knows Susan can credibly assert that she must be lying when she remembers saying that she stood in line with Jim for 45 minutes on election day in 2000.

I personally remember my wait in the polling place that morning quite vividly - and if any of my state or federal representatives were standing in line, I am quite sure I would remember them too.

Today, Miami's Classic Rock station, Big 105.9 FM talked about the Charlie Crist-Bruce Jordan love saga for about 20 minutes during the morning drive time. Yesterday morning, Miami's NewsTalk 940 AM talked about the Charlie Crist-Bruce Jordan love saga for 35 minutes during the morning drive time. It's really disappointing that the major newspapers of this state are continuing to sit on this story. I thought a free press reporting the truth was supposed to be a main guardian of our democracy? You have chosen to keep a lid on this until after the election, because you fear it will "sway the results". Well if it does it does. Your job is to report the truth, not to keep quiet so not to "sway the results" of elections. C'mon SP Times, do your job.
