The chair has landed
Remember that eBay auction? The empty chair appears to have been bought by these Young Republicans, who waited outside a Cape Coral community center to heckle Jim Davis as he came and went.
Davis was unfazed, appearing before an enthusiastic crowd of at least 100. He continued his line of attack on Charlie Crist and outlined his own plans to lower property insurance premiums and cut property taxes by $1-billion. Former Gov. Bob Graham said Davis is clearly the man for the job but warned heavy turnout is a must. "Frankly friends, if we have 10 percent turnout (like the primary) Jim Davis is not going to be elected governor." He asked the audience to raise their right hands and commit to contacting 25 people, urging them to vote.

He had better not assume that position when Charlie is around.

Why do all the young people supporting crist look like frat guys and sorority girls.

I agree with Bob Graham:
"Jim Davis is not going to be elected governor."

did davis mention his billion-dollar tax increase?
Posted by: | November 05, 2006 at 04:24 PM
a low vote turnout? were they talking about the Democratic base or the voting/attendance record of Jim Davis?

FROM LIES.COM
And so today we got the third act. Haggard had the following read aloud to his former congregation at Sunday service: Statement by Ted Haggard.
The last four days have been so difficult for me, my family and all of you, and I have further confused the situation with some of the things I’ve said during interviews with reporters who would catch me coming or going from my home. But I alone am responsible for the confusion caused by my inconsistent statements. The fact is, I am guilty of sexual immorality, and I take responsibility for the entire problem.
I am a deceiver and a liar. There is a part of my life that is so repulsive and dark that I’ve been warring against it all of my adult life.
So, there you go. Think about that, people, the next time someone seems oh-so-trustworthy, oh-so-sympathetic. Surely Pastor Ted, of all people, couldn’t be lying to me.
C'MON CHARLIE!

I heard that a Davis hack attacked the Crist volunteer that had Jim's empty chair.
The Davis campaign should be ashamed!

Jim's people can't take a joke!
The joke... Jim's voting record.

this is hilarous! The empty Chair finally gets to see Jim with a little help.
Posted by: | November 05, 2006 at 05:10 PM
looks like the Davis people have asked their homophobic smear operatives to try to cover empty Chair Jim again. Wonder how much the Davis Dems getting paid by Jim to spread homophobic smear. The empty Chair sure got Jim running scared it will catch up and he will have to actually do something.

Davis empty chair strikes again!. This blog made me laugh out loud. I can see the kids and the empty chair chasing Jim down the street with Jim running and screaming his lungs out, leave me alone. This is hilarous.

Did Davis miss another vote?
Citing the same paperwork that questioned his participation in the 2000 presidential election, RPOF says Davis did not vote in person or via absentee in the 1986 general election. Among the candidates: Bob Graham for U.S. Senate.

This is very curious...as an avid ebayer, I went to check on the auction and it is nowhere to be found. Normally, you can view an ebay auction after it ends for several months...yet there is no trace of it now. In fact, it never even finished its auction time. It's as if the idiots who were selling it were forced to remove it from ebay.
And now this Young Republicans claim to have it? Well they must, or else they would be liars...and a Republican would never lie (ie: WMD's, didn't know there were people in the SuperDome, fighting the insurance companies, etc...).

Yesterday, in response to the 49-35 NYT poll, your lowly zenator offered his own opinion about the race between Davis and Crist. I suggested that the race was trending from a single digit Crist lead toward a double digit lead as the negative ads began pulling voters away from Davis. I offered my opinion that the Crist lead fell somewhere in the 8-11 point range with Davis in the low 40’s and Crist in the low 50’s.
Now, along comes the Sunday Miami Herald with an article about a Zogby poll, which surveyed over 800 voters from 10/31-11/02 with a 3.5 MOE.. It shows Crist with 48, Davis with 38, Lynn with 3% and 10% undecided, The Herald does not provide a link to the poll so I have not reviewed the cross-tabs, methodology etc
The Zogby poll pretty much supports what I suggested yesterday regarding the race in terms of dynamics and range. Yesterday, I offered the opinion that Crist’s lead was in the 8-11 range, but trending toward double digits. Zogby pegs his lead at 10 based upon the erosion of Davis support that was also reflected in the NYT poll, which put Crist’s lead at 14.
The Herald article also suggests that the Dems might be saved by voter turnout. This is just the usual press spin to make the election appear closer than it is. The truth is that there is no evidence in Florida that the Dems are going to turn out in historic numbers in this mid-term election to rescue Davis et al. None of the signs are present that presage a massive Dem turnout in Florida, certainly neither the early voting or absentee ballots suggest a large Dem turnout. Moreover, both the NYT and Zogby polls provide evidence of likely Dem apathy. The support for Davis, stands at a mere 35-38% and that support has been shrinking not growing over the past 5 days.. The polls both show that 15-20% of the former Davis likely voters have moved over into the undecided column in the last 5 days .
For those who read my prior posts, you can now see in real time the impact of Davis’failure to solidify his base as reflected in those fav/unfav numbers that I kept discussing . A candidate who fails to solidify his base is highly vulnerable to a late negative ad campaign launched by a better funded opponent, such as Crist. Davis’ soft support has been dissolving fairly rapidly over the past 5 days. There does not appear to be sufficient time left for Davis to reverse the process. It is now highly unlikely that Davis will break 45%.
BTW, one has to love the Palm Beach Post, which has published a typically biased article suggesting that the race is tightening, citing an internal Davis poll on Friday showing Crist’s lead at 8. The Post makes no mention of either the NYT or Zogby polls presumably b/c it is inconsistent with its effort to encourage the Dem base in Broward and Palm Beach to vote. The Post article does, however, contain a nugget of truth for those who read the article carefully. Team Davis is trying to spin an internal poll on Friday showing Crist’s lead at 8 as good news. What does that tell you?
But, wait,….here comes the 11/5 Survey USA poll showing the race at 2 with Crist at 49, Davis at 47 and 1%undecided. Survey USA describes itself as providing interactive, fast-turn, affordable public opinion polls. Translation : Survey USA utilizes an automated, telephone methodology, which even the SPT acknowledges “has many skeptics.” Count me among them. This poll is an obvious outrider.

Dear repubichair simpwits; Jim Davis does have the second worst record in Congress. It's his VOTING RECORD OVER THE PAST YEAR! Come on people, get your facts straight (overall, it's 97%). Makes me wonder: Does the WORST RECORD BELONG TO A REPUBLICAN? It'd be just like you ignorant pissants to use that canard to hide one of your own's sad record...you people are only slightly less funny than the democraps. You ignorant pissants still haven't figured out the difference between Jim Dvis' positions and Charlie Crist's isaboutthismuch.
Posted by: Cynical Idealist | November 05, 2006 at 09:05 PM
actually, 9:05, there are lots of difference between Jim Davis and the next governor, Crist.
Jim will raise your taxes.
Charlie will cut them.
Vote Davis for HIGHER taxes!
Posted by: | November 05, 2006 at 09:10 PM
Cynical idealist...get your facts right, overall it ain't anywhere near 97%. missed 300 votes this congress, 300 in the other congresses, and damn near 300 as a state rep. overall, that adds up to embarassing.
Posted by: | November 05, 2006 at 10:48 PM
Jim has missed a lot of votes in the last 18 years, no lie.
