Will Crist pass over legislators for jobs?
We've heard some Buzz lately about Charlie Crist not wanting to pick any legislators for positions in his administration, in part because he doesn't want to see special elections to fill those positions. So we asked the gov-elect about that.
"Inaccurate,'' he said. "That's not a fact. you may or may not (see lawmakers named), but it's certainly not because of any predilection as to not wanting to have special elections. i just want the best and the brightest that we can recruit to help the people. Whether they're from the legislature or Fort Myers or Jacksonville or wherever they're from doesn't overly concern me as long as they come there with integrity and a public-minded spirit. I don't care what their party is, I don't care if they've served in the legislative branch or not, just that they're good people."

Who is in the running for anything? The legislature is full of a bunch of idiots

Why do so many assume that being an elected official in the LEGISLATIVE BRANCH somehow uniquely qualifies them to be prominent in the EXECUTIVE BRANCH? It's the same people who were confused as to why Jeb Bush didn't run for U.S. Senate.

Crist should absolutely appoint GUS BARREIRO as Secretary of the Dept. of Juvenile Justice. Barreiro was the legislator who stood strong and consistent against abuse of youth in DJJ care/custody.

Barreiro would be a good appointment, but all other legislators, "need not apply" - but they will and will end up in these jobs. Sad.

why doesn't he just hire some lobbyists and get it over with? the lobbyists run this state.

apparently the person blogging about kim berfield does not know her and has never lived in her district. she would make an excellent secretary. she's accomplished more in her 6 years in the legislature than most career politicians.

Go get 'em, Kim! Tampa Bay's loss will be Florida's gain!
Posted by: | December 02, 2006 at 04:47 PM
I do know Kim and I think he is a total waste of space. She is queen of the walk- her "service" has been to the highest bidder. We are much better with Charlie in the Senate.
p.s. Besides, she should learn how to wear a slip.

Berfield has been getting pounded by a hot young lawyer muscle stud who works for Bernie McCabe named john zachem.
Their families are close.
He's tall dark handsome and built like a fortress, and what a package if i do say so.
Thats why she is still smiling after her loss, she is one happy lady.

Charlie is going to bite the dust in the senate. I wonder if the voters in South Pinellas realize with all the Dem representation they have, they won't be getting any state funding. We need Berfield if we want anything out of the legislature.

i'd take zachem. he's hot.

Charlie would be a fool to put Barrier inn DJJ. He has no credentials and crap in his background.
Charlie's team is not looking at the best and brightest. They are not even looking in deatil in peoples backgrounds, as far as legislators, Charlies transition team doesn't even look at the legislators legislative histories. The senate is the only place where members actually have real experience, not just a cupole of years. Most senators previously served in the House and they truly have the best experience. But Charlies team does not lokk in to the whole history, including their House experience. Soemone needs to tell Charlie that his team needs to do a better job at reaearching .

Just heard that Denver Stutler up and quit as secretary of FDOT. Who might be in line for that position, and where is Denver going?

1:24, are you certain? I'd heard that the transition would probably be through the session. Based on your post, it sounds kind of sudden. Any idea why?
