Freshman joins House Democratic leadership

Rep. Keith Fitzgerald of Sarasota has been named deputy policy chairman for the House Democratic Caucus, making him the only freshman member of the Democratic leadership team.

“Rep. Keith Fitzgerald, a college professor, has a tremendous appetite for policy and will be an asset to both the Florida House and to the Democratic Caucus," minority leader Dan Gelber said in a statement.

I recently met this guy. He is very impressive. I am also glad to see Gelber including members from moderate parts of the state on his leadership team.

Fitzgerald is a sharp guy. I saw him at a candidate event last summer and came away impressed.

Just out of curiousity, who is the Democrats policy chair?

Keith Fitzgerald is a policy wonk - good pick.

What other legislators have tremendous appetites?

Sarasota is "moderate?"
