OK now is the time for all those afflicted with Bush Derangement Syndrome to post their bilious and venomous comments. Have at it, moonbats.

Zhombre,
They will now complain that its the Reserves. Nothing will make them happy short of all the Bush children being KIA.
Thats just how the libs think.

Glad to see he recognizes the valor of Pat Tillman (and not the chickenhawkery of Jeb or Uncle Junior).
======
The very private Tillmans have revealed a picture of Pat profoundly at odds with the GI Joe image created by Pentagon spinmeisters and their media stenographers. As the Chronicle put it, family and friends are now unveiling "a side of Pat Tillman not widely known--a fiercely independent thinker who enlisted, fought and died in service to his country yet was critical of President Bush and opposed the war in Iraq, where he served a tour of duty.

In the Navy, you can sail the 7 seas

My nephew joined the navy to avoid being sent to Iraq. Sorry to say, he's on a ship and can't tell us where he's at. Gee, guess he's either off the middle east coast (Iran) or stationed over by North Korea.
He's totally pi%%ed and mad as heck. Our thoughts and prayers are with him daily - and with the hope that the goofballs in this Admin don't start a war with either.

the bush family has justifiably taken a lot of heat for not having anyone serving in the military. this is a small start, and a very safe one. he will never see action. contrast this situation with prince harry, grandson of queen elizabeth II, who will be serving in iraq.
Posted by: | March 21, 2007 at 11:00 PM
10:52 - if your nephew didn't want to serve he shouldn't have signed up, this isn't WWII or Vietnam; there isn't a draft.
Posted by: | March 21, 2007 at 11:15 PM
This is George P. polishing his political resume for a future run for Congress. Smart move and his part. Lets see: grandson of former president, uncle of current president, son of former Florida governor, former teacher, attorney, veteran, married to a hot wife.
Yep -- he's running for something.

That’s a new one… risking your own sons/nephews life for political points. Pathetic and desperate at the same time… sweeeeeet!

11:15 my nephew wanted to do just that SERVE HIS COUNTRY. Just like his father, three uncles, grandfather, etc. The water is in the blood.
But as a young man, he too knew that this invasion was illegal and ill planed, and would do nothing to better his nation. He wated to protect our shores, and the shores of our allies. remember when we protected countries and promoted peace, instead now we are a nation of terror and war.
and before you bring up 911, there was NO NATION THAT ATTACKED US. It was a group of zealots - very similar to the zealots in the administration of this country. Those zealots attacked us for personal reasons, very much the way this adinistration and its "good fellas" have attacked another country for their personal reasons ~their purses.

6:53. I think that you are missing the point. When you choose to join the armed forces, you are not choosing your battles. You cant say "I am against this war so I dont want to go." It is your job and duty and you swore an oath to go and country to protect this country.
I think that it is ridiculous that people join the armed forces and expect to get stationed in some nice cooshy job doing nothing, and then find out that they might have to go and face a dangerous situation.
Posted by: | March 22, 2007 at 08:47 AM
Pat Tillman signed up for combat duty in Afghanistan and died serving his country. I'm assuming the same option was available George P. in Iraq.
Posted by: | March 22, 2007 at 08:55 AM
It's sad to think that he may have joined the military only because he wants to run for political office. It only proves that he has nothing else to offer other then his namesake - Bush.
Posted by: | March 22, 2007 at 08:58 AM
Winston - your nephew is a fool if he really is "pi%%ed" off at being deployed. he enlisted at his own volition. if he truly did it to serve his country, there are other means he could've accomplished this without enlisting. Nonetheless, my prayers and thoughts are with him.
8:58am - it really is a catch-22 with the Bush family, isn't it? I mean, if they enlist, they are merely doing so for political expediency...but if they don't, they're all cowards...I agree with maverick in that it would appear that these antiwar folks won't be happy until every last Bush scion is KIA and they're bodies are flayed and hung on the gates of Baghdad.

When he runs for office he'll have to explain having to leave Florida for being a stalking peeping tom prowler.
Look it up.

agree with 11:30
simply a ploy to give him street cred with the neo-cons.
will he be stationed in Alabama like his famous Uncle?
doubt seriously he'll ever see the anything close to combat.
Also, the guy taught one year at Homestead High in Miami-Dade then wrote a sappy article in the Miami Herald about how he couldn't take it and couldn't relate to young people (he was 23 at the time).
The guy was never a teacher.

I just can't wait for the day that we don't have to hear about any other members of the Bush family. They have been a disgrace to Florida and to our country. They care only about themselves and how they can make themselves richer. I wish they would fade away in to obscurity already. Our state and our country would be better off, not to mention the world.

Has the thought crossed anyone's mind that maybe George P. justs wants to serve his country or maybe he wants to give a little back? Are all naval reservists cowards? Do we even need a naval reserve if they are worthless and will never see combat?
Posted by: | March 22, 2007 at 10:07 AM
10:07,
And I bet you weren't one of the right-wingers who made fun of Al Gore when he served in Vietnam as a military journalist. Uh-huh. How does it feel to get a taste of your own medicine now that one of your own has joined the "Champagne Brigade"?
8:47,
When one chooses to join the armed forces, it's true that they can't choose their battles; but they also entrust their Commander-in-Chief with sending them to battle in _honest, just_ wars that really ARE meant to protect this country--rather than Halliburton's stock options or the Bush Family's Saudi Arabian buddies' oil monarchy.
It is not surprising to me that many in the Armed Forces are justifiably disgusted at their leadership, who have sent them into a dishonest, immoral war that not only has nothing to do with 9/11, but that also has NOTHING to do with protecting our country.

this is a lame attempt by the bushies to insure a future presidential prospect for their little stud. put his butt in iraq. let's see what he is really made of. it don't surprise me that all this blogging republican trash lines up to support the war-evading trash of their party leadership. they value party over nation.
Posted by: | March 22, 2007 at 10:51 AM
for all those liberal during election time who shout why dont you join the military and make a fool out of themselves it looks like a bush went ahead and did that, o wait let me guess your next arguement will be it was only the reserves

10:52, ask anyone in the military which is more difficult service: in combat or not in combat. ask any family about the type of service that allows them to breathe easier. this isn't rocket science. Tammy Duckworth left two legs in Iraq and still had her motives for service questioned by the right. My guess is when you've served where the bullets are flying, like Democrat Jim Webb's son, you've put your life on the line for this country and we all owe you a huge debt. Reservists are fighting the war in Iraq right now, but that doesn't mean you can't make a calculated decision and decrease the likelihood of ever seeing combat. It has happened during every single war, including this one. George W. Bush WANTED to be stateside during Vietnam and magically it worked out for him and he didn't have to fire a gun in the war he supported. If you want to be on the front lines of this (civil) war, I don't think anyone is going to stand in your way.
