Max Linn v Bill Young?
Millionaire former Reform Party gubernatorial candidate Max Linn called us today after the story about Democrats targetting Rep. CW Bill Young's Pinellas seat. "I have been getting barraged, probably over 100 phone calls, by people asking me to jump in against Bill Young,'' said the Treasure Island resident. "I might entertain that if the Democratic Party got behind me, and I may be willing to throw in some money of my own to get someone like Bill Young out of office."
BTW, we also chatted with Democratic County Commissioner Calvin Harris about the possibility of running: "I'm looking forward to Congressman Young representing me for many more years. If you were to rate the members of congress he would have to be in the top two or three.''

Don't look for harris to endorse linn

100 of people sure. Just like he had to have that emergency landing on I-4. Way to play into his hand Times of getting out the message that he would throw in lots of his own money if the Dems support him.

Of course Harris won’t support Linn, Linn is not a Republican.
And forget about the D Party getting behind you Max, you’re not “Pro Gay” enough for them.
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 01:17 PM
Wait a minute, I thought Max didn't belong to any party and parties were the root of all evil? Max is no better than any other power hungry politician.
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 01:25 PM
Max and Calvin are both jokes.
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 01:36 PM
No, actually the hypocritical joke is Rep Bill Young. The victims are our wounded troops.
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 01:52 PM
There is some history there with Young and Linn. Its in the paper, when Linn was usuing Youngs name without permission promising to raise cash for the vets, and Young told him to stop it. 2006 i think it was.

What did Max get in the Governor's race? Memo to Max: Take a hint.
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 02:15 PM
Calvin Harris would be a fine Member of Congress. I hope he will consider running when Young retires.
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 02:15 PM
show of hands, how many retards on this blog that are bashing bill young have ever gotten laid? anybody? going once, twice....sold, thats what i figured.
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 02:16 PM

Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 02:38 PM
Liz McCallum must need a job.
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 03:12 PM
Actually, Liz would make a good candidate for Young's seat.
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 03:46 PM
"Wow...Calvin sounds more republican than most of the elected republicans in this county...."
Harris is owned by the Republicans in this County
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 03:48 PM
your mom is owned by the republicans in this county
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 04:03 PM
3:46--- Seriously, how? I am really curious.
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 04:07 PM

Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 04:09 PM
“your mom is owned by the republicans in this county”
Are you serious, that’s what you came back with? Is that you, Calvin?
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 04:54 PM

Come on max, how bout you waste another million dollars that you stole on a failed campaign. What do you think you can actually get in a campaign against young-----6 %-----in the words of George W. Bush "Bring Em On"
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 05:45 PM
“…in the words of George W. Bush "Bring Em On"
That’s freaking great… try, in the words of George Bush… ummm, duhhhhhhh, what to I do Dickey?
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 06:10 PM
Alberto!, fire my mom and dad... they cry too much.
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 06:18 PM
3:46 -- Liz, is that you? If you haven't figured it out yet, Pinellas voters ain't buying what you're selling.
If you really want to get elected (as you so obviously do), then what you need to do is get off the blog and go meet with your Realtor. You know, the market is pretty slow right not and if you're going to establish residence in some other swing district in time for the 08 election, you need to get moving.
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 07:46 PM
If i have to read that gratuitous whiner on 1:17 blog again about being mad about blacks being too republican and the dems being too gay, I'm going to poke my eyes out. Broken record, dude. It just sounds like somebody offended you or slighted you, and now you're trying to base an ideology on it. It just don't ring true, and I'm tired of the latent racism and homophobia in your remarks.
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 08:17 PM
1:17/Norm-- Maybe you should run.
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 08:48 PM
Democrat's wanna win this seat....Peter Rudy Wallace!
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 10:18 PM
Wouldn't Norm have to win a precinct in order to win? He doesn't seem to be able to do that. Neither does brother Brian.
Posted by: | March 16, 2007 at 11:03 PM
Well, well, well… how many of you political geniuses of the Pinellas Democratic Party are going to follow the lead of our self-proclaimed “Real” Democrat (Harris) and publicly endorse the Republican CW?
Like him or not (and I happen to like him), apparently Norm wasn’t that far off the mark after all. I wonder what you’ll do should someone as popular as Charlie Justice or Ken Welch decides to challenge for CW’s seat with the full support of the State and National Parties. Will you all get behind your “Real” Democrat Harris and campaign for CW against them?
… anyone… anyone… Bueller… Carrie… Arlin… Harvey… Gene…Gerald with a “G”?
…oh, what tangled webs we weave…
Posted by: | March 17, 2007 at 11:37 AM
OK Norm/Ed/Liz, if it isn't someone like Kriseman, Welch, Heller, Justice, etc., then who do you all think should run?
Gerdes, McCallum, Jovan, Roche, Samm S, Killingsworth, Helm, Dramesi, Valentine? They are all proven commodities, right?
I am growing tired of the extremes on the left (i am sure the right has them too) who would rather point fingers then win elections.
Posted by: | March 17, 2007 at 12:03 PM
Jovan should run
Posted by: | March 17, 2007 at 05:05 PM
Good Day Folks,
Hope all is well. I was at the ballpark all day with my son. I caught wind of this discussion and thought I’d take a read. I get a kick out of reading this mess from time to time. The best part is reading how you people try to guess the authors, it’s a hoot.
Regardless of the VA problem, it will be hard to beat Bill Young, but I believe it can be done. To answer your question 12:03, I think Welch or Justice could do it. Harris could do it too, although given his comment in support of Young that might be a bit difficult. Then again, Bill Heller pulled it off. Bottom line; neither will take a shot at it. You see, what you haven’t figured out yet is that it makes no difference whether you’re R or D. That rouse is for the uninformed, bloggers, and the water cooler pundits. It’s all about incumbency and mutually agreed upon collective-preservation.
Take the BOCC for example; they get paid 90k a year of your tax dollars to play with 2-billion of you tax dollars each year. If you do a proper job at researching their campaign coffers, you’ll realize that the vast majority of the money comes from the same place, regardless of Party affiliation. It is the ugly reality of our political system that most people don’t get, nor take the time to understand.
The posting at 11:37 does pose an interesting question though.
Posted by: Norm Roche | March 17, 2007 at 05:22 PM
hey 12:03, i am getting tired of idiots like you who would rather win elections that put good people in office. and by the way, you are the left-wing extremists who have taken over the party and ruined it to its core. if you don’t’ mind, we’ll take it back now you sick freak.
Posted by: | March 17, 2007 at 05:47 PM
5:47-- OK, so who would you suggest we support for Congress? Names?
Posted by: | March 18, 2007 at 01:04 PM
1:04 - First, we have to see who steps to the plate. It has to be someone local, a carpetbagger won’t cut it. I tend to agree with Roche on this one. I don’t see any of these local yokels having the courage to do it.
Posted by: | March 18, 2007 at 02:24 PM
Read the new Tampa Bay Sun that comes out on 3-23-07. You can read the truth about Calvin Harris. Maybe Calvin should leave the country?
Posted by: | March 18, 2007 at 05:11 PM
what about young's son, billy?
Posted by: | March 18, 2007 at 11:14 PM
It wouldn’t surprise me if Billy went after it. It would be sad, but it wouldn’t surprise me. Heck, if that minion Gus B., and that opportunist Kathy C. can capitalize on their parents name… why not Billy. The voters are dumb enough to fall for it again and again…
Posted by: | March 19, 2007 at 08:34 AM
Norm Roche is bitter because a) he can't win or even be competitive in a local election, b)his envies successful Democrats like Cal Harris who can actually raise money and run competitive races, and c) he still can't believe his brother/campaign manager Brian went out and filed as a write-in (closing off the election to independents and republicans) without ever speaking to Norm about it.
Poor bitter Norm.

Get a new script sport, this one's as old as the crust in your underwear.

Max's presence in the Governor's Debate; which he had to sue his way into; and won twice; Was the only reason Dopey Davis found his balls for about 90 minutes in his ME Too assault on Crist once Max launched the first volley on Crsit in that same debate where a frustrated Charlie Crist only return was that he would make murder illegal because it is the only crime on the increase.
Posted by: outsider | March 19, 2007 at 10:23 AM
Max is not a partisan. He wants to promote citizen control over their own government.
He can gain the ballot on any line he wants.
He is likely to work on term limits for congress.
It makes total sense for him to run.
The D's and R's think they own all the votes.
They do not.
If the D's want to ever be seen as the party of the people again; They better back Max and not another Dope like Davis
His Third Party run would extinct the Democrats in that district for good.
People are highly disgusted with the D's AND R's
HIs campaign would bring out the HUGE anti-incumbent vote.
Posted by: outsider | March 19, 2007 at 10:36 AM
10:20, did you make that one up all by yourself?
Posted by: | March 19, 2007 at 10:36 AM
Dude, your fixation on the Roche brothers is getting a bit disturbing. Do they know they have a stalker?
Posted by: | March 19, 2007 at 10:38 AM
10:38 aka Norm - No one knows the Roaches exist, according to the last election. How could they have a stalker?
Posted by: | March 19, 2007 at 11:13 AM
11:13 from 10:38 (not Norm) but nice try...
You certainly seem to know they exist. Are you a nobody?
Posted by: | March 19, 2007 at 11:41 AM
10:36- How exactly? I really am curious here (as I was about Liz McCallum being a good candidate). They didn't show up for him in 2006, so what makes you think they will all the sudden show up for him in 2008.
I heard all the same rhetoric when people kept saying Ross Perot would be President.
Posted by: | March 19, 2007 at 12:59 PM
Perot/Linn '08!
I'm in...
